Oh good. Yet more vaperware hyperprojects like that 200 mile long city.

Oh, you mean, did you mean "Spec-Ops: The Line"

Because that's totally what's going to happen.

Probably not wrong on multiple fronts.

The Line was probably still one of my favorite of their projects though, just for how hilariously over the top it was on the non-credible front.

I downloaded spec ops recently and the map design is so linear and the shooting so devoid of feel that I couldn't give it enough time to get into the story. Is it actually good?

"You, the player, are evil for doing this thing required to advance the plot."

That's it. That's the game.

I never understood how everyone and their grandmother sucked themselves into a frenzy over this game. Like, hey look at us, we are so deep and put themes and shit in our game. And commentary. Same thing with bioshock. I never got how any of this is clever when you're forced to do what the designers want you to do. Disclaimer: I haven't played it, nor do I ever want to. I have played Bioshok, though. Stopped after the twist.

I actually read somewhere that the only reason for The Line to have these story-beats is that they ran out of money to make the game they actually wanted.

The second half certainly is a wild ride that can be called good in its own way, though it requires being unspoiled for it to work. The way you feel about the gameplay and maps is intentional as well, so don't worry about that.

Just imagine the amount of cocaine that surreptitiously went into that pipe dream…

Just imagine!

They sure love their cubes.

Do they say when this is supposed to be finished? Right after building their 3000 black fighter jets I'm sure. Sounds like one of those "we sure hope technology will actually be able to do that when we're done" projects.

The fact that the war in Yemen is still going on is why the government is distracting retarded westerners with mega-projects that will never finish: that money is going to be "re-allocated" to blowing up villages.

Yes. Yes that actually does make sense, I agree…

I quite enjoy these flights of fancy from Arabian princes, and only wish they would actually come to fruition instead of being mere fantasy proposals. I remember in the early 2000s one prince was funding a project to seed rain in the desert. I guess Nature said no.

These flights of fancy are commercials that are just going to use the invested funds to attack Yemen.

"These westerners are so fucking stupid, they'll buy anything."

Why the hell does Saudia Arabia love dystopia modernization

The princes like being the guy on top of the building.

Also, as Gizortnik pointed out, it's a great way to distract and pay for a war.

All those SF settings and all I can think off is that I prefer my little neighborhood with green trees and small to medium size houses.

Yeah, everybody wants to visit Saudi Arabia, the home of fun. Say something about Allah or Muhammad and get your head chopped off.

Allah was just a small-time demon cosplaying on a dare with god but then people took him super cereal. Good thing they've both grown out of their chuunibyou complexes and are now productive members of society.

I don't think the money in AR, VR, or anything like that was aimed at poor or even middle class people.

Didn't expect The Cube to get a real-life sequel. Who's going to design the murder-traps?

Still not visiting the ultra-oppressive Islamic heartland. You can trust devout Islamic followers about as far as you could throw them. And since most of them are obese from their poor Islamic diets, that isn't far.

It’s like, the shithole to end all shitholes…

Just with lots of money (in the hands of a few)…

I know people who lived there, at various points in their lives…

They’re… Interesting.

Obviously won't be made, but what motivates this I think is a desire for modern pyramids.

They see the future without oil and want to leave monuments to be remembered by.

What they should be doing is making nuclear powered desalination plants and piping fresh water to make a massive oasis. Seeing a 200 square mile of green plants in a desert would be way more awe inspiring than a building. Of course they aren't allowed to have nuclear and the amount of black solar panels it would take would raise their temperature even more.

Of all the “countries” in the world that currently exist, this lot may be the most completely unhinged…

Blow up all the actual holy/historical sites in the desert (oh, and all the existing infrastructure), and build shit like this, amirite??

Fucking towelhead clowns…
