I’m getting the Xbox game pass on my laptop and since I’ve heard it described as Skyrim in space I’ll give it a chance since Skyrim is my favorite. I am worried due to the direction gaming has gone what will be injected in it

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Oh wait, you're serious. Let me laugh harder.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
I appreciate the Bender reference
will pirate at launch to test, then if it doesn't totally suck maybe buy on sale a few years later after all the content comes out and the community has fixed the gameplay
Agreed. We will need to wait for the modding community do their usual community patches if Beths track record is any indicator.
This is the vey.
Fuck no ha ha ha ha ha. Bethsoft has a long way to go before they get any credibility back. Fallout 76 was the single worst video game release I have ever encountered in my life.
What about elder scrolls 6?
Same thing. Assume no, wait for reviews. Ar this point I'd be surprised if they release a finished game, I have no hope that both won't contain woke bullshit.
Skyrim, Fallout 4 and 76 are terrible games so given their track record..
Nope. I grew bored of Bethesda's games a while ago (Skyrim being the first one I never finished or replayed), and now that open world games are a dime a dozen, there's nothing special about them anymore. Take away the open world and what do you have in their titles? Lame, boring floaty combat, damage sponge enemies everywhere, awful storytelling, inconsistent worldbuilding, copy-paste levels galore, and of course, annoying bugs.
I still play Skyrim but thanks to mods it’s like an ever expanding game
lmao this nigger here describing literally every japanese rpg, especially from FromSoftware
Is it a singleplayer game or do they force you to go online to play it?
If it's a purely singleplayer game I might give it a try ... 2 years after release. By then it should be mostly bug-free, completely released and it should be clear if it's woke or not. By then the GOTY is probably 80-90% off or I'll just ...uh ... borrow it from a friend.
I hear it’s single player. At least I think that’s what they said
They might still force players online as some kind of DRM-scheme under the pretense of "community features" like the new Hitman games did. Or maybe they'll do it to finally get their paid mod store.
Never day 1 or preorder. Since this is a Bethesda game, bugs will be everywhere. Wait at least 6 months for big fixes from the community.
Lmao hell no, I lost faith with Skyrim, let alone Fallout 4 onwards.
Bethesda couldn't develop a game if they had over seven years and AAA levels of budget.
...Oh wait.
Pirate first. Then maybe, if it's not totally shit with mods, In a deep sale. A game should be worthwhile without community mods fixing a dumpster fire.
If I do buy it, it will be two bucks at a used game store.
Sometimes I’m tempted to buy a PS2 again and find someone online wiling to sell a bulk load of games
Emulation has come a long way, the only thing you need is a decent controller
You can buy a modified fat PS2 with a hard drive containing the ROMs of any game you want to play. I plan on doing that myself.
Check pawn shops and Goodwills. They tend to have games for a few bucks each. I have spent $10 and bought an entire game series quite often.
It's Bethesda right? That shit will be broken for months till modders get into it
Ha! But thank goodness for modders. I’ve been playing Skyrim since it came out and thanks to mods I’ve been playing in new territories for the past 2 years
I actually hate the relationship between Bethesda games and the modding community. There are hardly any mods for other games because Elder Scrolls and Fallout dominate the attention of all the modders. It’s at a point where I don’t consider mods to be a core feature of PC gaming anymore because they only really apply to a handful of games from one company.
I've stopped considering mods a selling point myself. More often than not, I turn to them to fix problems I have with a game, and if I have to use mods to make a game even halfway decent, is it really that good of a game? Never mind how long it can take to make all sorts of mods actually work together, as is shown to be the case with Bethsda's games, and I just don't have that kind of time anymore. Furthermore, as games become more resource-intensive, mods that add actual meaningful content become fewer and farther between, to the point where they come out years after the original game, and by that time, I've already moved on to other stuff (that's usually better right out of the box).
That I didn’t know. I play Skyrim so much that I never considered that.
Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas (yes I know this one wasn't made by Bethesda), Skyrim, and Fallout 4 are all my most played games, hell I played and enjoyed Fallout 76 for awhile, at least until the constant balance changes and nerfs to fun builds killed that one for me. So I guess I am cautiously waiting to see how bad the woke bs is, and if it can be modded out.
I think it’s funny that you think you might not buy it lol
If the game offers a decent world/setting and exploration, with the ability to still be modded, I probably will still get it eventually.
Everyone lambasts Fallout 76, but I still had fun exploring the world and screwing around in it. Would probably still play it if I could setup my own server and mod it.
Biggest concern is how "current year" Starfield will be, sometimes that can be modded out, sometimes it can't. Sims 4 is a good example of that, EA/Sims studio adds woke stuff, and I either remove it, ignore it, or pervert it into something that would trigger the hell out of the progs.
Really all I want is a decent foundation to set the game up how I want it.
Maybe but probably not. Beth has been on a downward spiral ever since Skyrim, which is probably why they keep releasing it, they know its the last time they actually gave a fuck.
Sure.
After 6 months and a trip to the steam summer/winter sale.
Enough time for it to reduce in price nicely and get some bug fixes.
I snagged a few years of Game Pass for the price of Live when the one for one transition was going on. I doubt I'll renew Game Pass once it expires, but if it's still active when Starfield comes out, I'll definitely play it.
Whether I buy it after that depends on how much fun I'm having leading my Red Legions to the stars in space Skyrim.
I’ll definitely get gamepass because since Starfield and ES6 are the main games I’m waiting for and they are exclusively Xbox I’d rather just play on my Microsoft gaming laptop than buy a new console
I have no interest in it because of the tranny pandering.
took a look; noticed rainbow bars all over the official starfield website...
It's unlikely. What I've seen of the gameplay looked too much like an interstellar version of fallout 4, with a greater emphasis on settlement building.
Gamepass on Xbox first. Then I'll know how I'll want to mod it on PC if I like it. I probably will.
No, when was the last time they made a good game? lol
I still play Skyrim. Heavily modded but still play
why would you subject yourself to that shit, play a proper CRPG.
Modding Skyrim does not fix the issues it has.
What is a CRPG? What games do you suggest?
It just means Computer Role-Playing Game. As opposed to a tabletop role-playing game that CRPGs are inspired by.
Thanks!
To add to FromTheShadows's comment, CRPGs usually emphasize building unique characters through stats points allocation and skill development over time. Your unique build defines how you "roleplay" in the game. (or inversely, you decide how you want to roleplay and build the character around that) Some people just min-max and try to find the most optimal build for combat.
Technically Skyrim is still a CRPG but it streamlines to the point that it drastically veers away from that original idea and becomes more like a first-person adventure game. (or even an FPS with spells) You don't have to worry about stats building at all.
The CRPG Addict has a blog series where the author is trying to play every CRPG made and review them. If you like those kinds of games it's a good way to find new ones to play.
Thanks! I’ll check the link out
Any of the old "gold box" D&D games, all of the Ultima games, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Fallout 1 and 2, and the Wasteland games come to mind.
Arena, Daggerfall, and Morrowind could be considered crpgs as well I guess.
what a fucking retard
Looks pretty good. No doubt it'll have its share of woke bullshit, but in this day and age, there's pretty much no escaping. Unless it's too blatant, I'm grabbing it pretty soon after launch. On a different note, the absolute retards shrieking in this thread straight out of r/truegaymers hating on Bethesda games, that were until very recently all considered masterpieces of the genre. Absolute fucking hive minded retards .
No.
Yes, I'm actually a little excited for it. I wonder if it will launch buggy as fuck like most of Microsoft's last slate of exclusives - FM7 and Halo Infinite come immediately to mind.
The fuck? Sounds like a guy I remember on c/gaming who was ranting the same thing. OK I know there's a few people like that but that's an SJW strawman and not remotely true for most of us. We just want to enjoy our media in peace without the wokeness.
Naturally, most gamers are men, and to sell more games they will make females attractive to the audience. That could be giving them giant tits or other feminine features. It's pure capitalism. When developers aren't doing that - and it's not a game by some indie dev with an uncompromising vision - it's because of woke.
Give us an example.
20 years ago things like that would have been ignored or thought of as novel. Now they're a declaration. A lot of people use "woke" as an easy synonym for crap since anything modern and crap will almost always have elements of it due to obvious reasons (like the hiring policies of development studios, ESG, etc.) It's also good counter propaganda to call things that, admittedly.
I haven't heard much about Forspoken but it has a black female New Yorker as a lead character, irritating dialogue, writers associated with Disney and Marvel, and the Square Enix stamp of shit. Those 4 things alone signify danger and do not approach, and I'll be very surprised if it turns out to be playable.
Obviously a female or minority character isn’t bad but I do think it’s annoying when a game is overhyped simply because it meets the diversity checklist
