I’m getting the Xbox game pass on my laptop and since I’ve heard it described as Skyrim in space I’ll give it a chance since Skyrim is my favorite. I am worried due to the direction gaming has gone what will be injected in it

I still play Skyrim. Heavily modded but still play
why would you subject yourself to that shit, play a proper CRPG.
Modding Skyrim does not fix the issues it has.
What is a CRPG? What games do you suggest?
It just means Computer Role-Playing Game. As opposed to a tabletop role-playing game that CRPGs are inspired by.
Thanks!
To add to FromTheShadows's comment, CRPGs usually emphasize building unique characters through stats points allocation and skill development over time. Your unique build defines how you "roleplay" in the game. (or inversely, you decide how you want to roleplay and build the character around that) Some people just min-max and try to find the most optimal build for combat.
Technically Skyrim is still a CRPG but it streamlines to the point that it drastically veers away from that original idea and becomes more like a first-person adventure game. (or even an FPS with spells) You don't have to worry about stats building at all.
The CRPG Addict has a blog series where the author is trying to play every CRPG made and review them. If you like those kinds of games it's a good way to find new ones to play.
Thanks! I’ll check the link out
Any of the old "gold box" D&D games, all of the Ultima games, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Fallout 1 and 2, and the Wasteland games come to mind.
Arena, Daggerfall, and Morrowind could be considered crpgs as well I guess.
