After that fucking long ass traffic jam, I’m ready to send a years supply of viagra and fairy dust to Ethiopia.
It's amazing what liberals will say when they think no one cares.
EDIT: I mean really; who sits in a traffic jam and then thinks to himself "I should send rape packages to a foreign civil war on the other side of the planet because I want people tangentially related to the protesters to be raped to death"?
EDIT: I mean really; who sits in a traffic jam and then thinks to himself "I should send rape packages to a foreign civil war on the other side of the planet because I want people tangentially related to the protesters to be raped to death"?
The same kind of person who takes sides in long-festering conflicts on the other side of the globe, in a country he cannot find on the map, based on what the TV man told him.
I agree. If you block freeways you deserve to get run over. It was true when BLM did it, and it is true now that a dumbfuck ethiopian tribe does it. Not sure why this sub would take the contrary position unless it's just "haha get fucked Seattle".
I know all about the Tigrays. They ran Ethiopia for like 30 years because they're the most militant tribe and basically bullied everyone else. Then a few years ago, the tigrays finally lost control of government through elections and refused to abide by the result, so they held their own elections and the rest of the country ganged up on them in what was expected to be a short war.
Thing is, the Tigrays ARE better fighters than the rest of the country, so despite the war going on for 2 years, the Tigrays haven't lost.
A few months ago Eritrea got in on the action and launched a joint offensive into Tigray along with the Ethiopian govt. This is pretty fucked up since Eritrea and Ethiopia are traditional enemies and Eritrea is know for being ruthless motherfuckers similar to Tigray, so the fact that the Ethiopian government would ally with a foreign country to invade "itself" just shows that the rest of ethopia doesn't even see Tigray as truly ethiopian and just wants to destroy them.
Eritrea MOBILIZED to attack Tigray, that's how bad these motherfuckers want to kill the Tigrays.
estimates put the number of Ethiopian casualties at over 90,000 in a single month, while Tigrayan casualties were also deemed incredibly high.[247] According to peace researcher Kjetil Tronvoll, it is likely that 100,000 people had been killed over the preceding few weeks, and alleged that Eritrea and Ethiopia were using human wave attacks to overwhelm Tigrayan defenses.
Think about how much all these black people hate each other to human wave each other like this. lol fucking degenerates.
Then a few years ago, the tigrays finally lost control of government through elections

Thing is, the Tigrays ARE better fighters than the rest of the country, so despite the war going on for 2 years, the Tigrays haven't lost.
You don't need to be better fighters in order to not lose in your home territory.
so the fact that the Ethiopian government would ally with a foreign country to invade "itself" just shows that the rest of ethopia doesn't even see Tigray as truly ethiopian and just wants to destroy them.
Knowing nothing of the conflict, this suggests that the Tigrays are in the right.
If you block freeways you deserve to get run over.
I don't necessarily agree.
It's an incredibly dramatic form of civil disobedience that is pretty severe, can really hurt your public perception, but if the cause is just: it might be worth it.
The Canadian Truckers actually started shutting down highways, but that was because of Canada's incredible oppression over lockdowns. What sparked the whole thing was the PM's push to have not only mandated injections for all truckers, regardless of religious/moral/medical exemption, the right to have immediate termination for anyone who opposed it, fines and penalties on top of that, and the construction of **intra-**state checkpoints and closures in Canada so that freedom of movement between provinces would be ended and met with mandated inspections of driver's internal covid passports.
I mean, Jesus Christ, that's a reason. And the truckers and their trucks are the ones being directly effected. The truckers didn't just convoy over to Ottawa, they also shut down one of the major bridges that lead to the US. That was a national security threat. You're endangering the the entire economy of Canada by slowing and restricting global trade with the US.
Now, do I agree with them in doing it? Yeah, absolutely, 100%. Trudeau violated the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and should have been forced to abdicate (because resign isn't the right word when he basically acts as the God-King of Canada). Should they have been run over if they were outside their trucks (as a few instances did happen), no absolutely not. Now... being that it's civil disobedience, is there any real legal recourse for them? No, and the police wouldn't have wanted to help them with recourse anyways.
They claimed to be bringing attention to the issue, from the replies it looks like all the wrong attention. There are a lot of Ethiopians around here, and these jerks just severed plenty of goodwill they might have had.
The last three years have been brutal for Seattle and people want it to stop now. Citizens are pissed.
There was a proposal initiative on the Seattle ballot in this election for a shift to ranked choice voting. The lefties will re-engineer voting so they stay in charge no matter what the citizens want or vote. Plus voting is already mail-in ballot only in Washington state.
The lefties are rigging elections from the back end in.
Seattle is always going to vote for the Left, the only question is whether they will vote for an open communist who wears a Mao dress, or just a "regular" tree fucking, homeless worshipping Democrat.
Yeah, I actually don't disagree entirely with blocking traffic as civil disobedience. But you've got to know how likely it is to push people against you.
If it worked for Ukraine maybe it will work for Ethiopia. What is the reason why one receives huge amounts of money and the others don't?
I also have no idea what is happening in Ethiopia but if it is a war I assume that another wave of immigrants from there will march in to Europe demanding stuff.
What is the reason why one receives huge amounts of money and the others don't?
The EU is concerned about Russian aggression.
The US cares about promoting democracy and pro-West countries over authoritarian ones.
Nobody gives a shit about black people killing black people, not even when it happens in the US, so why would they care when it happens in a place nearly everyone couldn't point out on a map?
The US cares about promoting democracy and pro-West countries over authoritarian ones.
I do not know enough about Ethiopia to know if this is the case or not.
Most people in the US could not point to Ukraine on the map either.
If the US cared so much about Russian aggression then why are they not pushing for peace talks?
However, I was not trying to make a point about Ukraine but I was speaking from the point of view of the Ethiopians, if one country can milk money out of the US despite the US not being directly involved then why can't other countries? At the very least you are going to try.
If it wasn’t already clear by now - if liberals didn’t have hypocrisy and selective empathy, they would have nothing at all…
There’s all manner of reasons why they “cared” about BLM, and they don’t care about Tigray. Not a single one amounted to actually caring about the “plight” of black people…
Yep. I saw through blm from the very beginning. I had a cousin who supported those clowns and I asked her why they don’t go to the inner cities and go after the drug lords and gangs. Her response was it’s too dangerous and police brutality is more important.
If the US cared so much about Russian aggression then why are they not pushing for peace talks?
Russia is losing, so "peace talks" benefit Russia since any "peace talks" could only result in Russia keeping its gains. If Ukraine was losing and peace talks were beneficial to Ukraine, then the US would support them.
Stopping Russian aggression means inflicting the greatest punishments and losses on Russia in order to teach them a lesson they won't forget.
if one country can milk money out of the US despite the US not being directly involved then why can't other countries?
Because no US interests are at stake in Ethiopia, unlike Ukraine. Ethiopia is a civil war.
If you want to argue that the US doesn't promote democracy at all, you've been living under a rock and know nothing of geopolitical history of the past 70 years.
2022 - 70 = 1952, which is exactly 1 year before Operation Ajax. How ironic. You should have waited until January to say that.
Obviously I didn't calculate down the days like an autist, and you come across as an autist with your "You should have waited until January".
Operation Ajax was the US being duped by the aggressor UK. Iran was going to nationalize its UK-controlled oil industry. The UK went balls-out with political destabilization operations, subversion, a RN blockade, and heavy sanctions.
The UK constantly lobbied the US to help it overthrow Iran's government. The US consistently refused, and tried to mediate. It wasn't until after Eisenhower came into office that the UK was able to trick the US into thinking the communists were taking over in Iran (because of the UK's own destabilization efforts).
Mosaddegh allied with the communists, and seized absolute power for himself in 1953, which was critical to finally tilting the reluctant US (and the Shah himself) to agree to side against him.
Not only that, but the US extracted compromises from the UK as a price of US approval, breaking the british monopoly on Iran's oil & massively benefiting Iran financially.
The Suez Crisis in 1956, where the US took Egypt's side against the UK, France, and Israel, 100% proves my point. The US was acting out of idiotic State Department idealism and an obsession with "being on the right side of history", not Realist realpolitik which you wrongly accuse the US of.
Obviously I didn't calculate down the days like an autist, and you come across as an autist with your "You should have waited until January".
It's called a joke. Obviously, the US did not suddenly switch to promoting demokwacy the day after 31 December 1952. It should have started at home if that was the intent, or in Western Europe for that matter.

Huh, you managed to get quite accurate information from Wikipedia for once.
Mosaddegh allied with the communists, and seized absolute power for himself in 1953, which was critical to finally tilting the reluctant US (and the Shah himself) to agree to side against him.
This is vastly exaggerated on both counts.
Not only that, but the US extracted compromises from the UK as a price of US approval, breaking the british monopoly on Iran's oil & massively benefiting Iran financially.
As opposed to nationalization?
Anyway, even if it did benefit Iran compared to the status quo ante, it was not support for "democracy".
The Suez Crisis in 1956, where the US took Egypt's side against the UK, France, and Israel, 100% proves my point. The US was acting out of idiotic State Department idealism and an obsession with "being on the right side of history", not Realist realpolitik which you wrongly accuse the US of.
Nasser was not a Democrat, possibly even less so than the Western Europeans if that is even possible, so this hardly proves that the US was supporting "democracy". And there were plenty of Realpolitik reasons for supporting Nasser.
First of all, nationalization with compensation is a sovereign right, according to the argument of the US - and which the British themselves had done to many industries in the aftermath of 1945. Secondly, the US feared - again - that a humiliation of Nasser would lead to closer ties with the USSR. Thirdly, the US opposes any sort of empire, as that will lead to more powerful countries that can then challenge the US.
Reminds me of when some stupid cunts shut down I-5 in the middle of the night during the BLM riots in 2020 and one was hit and killed by an African migrant. r/SeattleWA called him a white supremacist.
Seattle protesters blocking traffic used to be so common in Seattle that traffic reports would include them on radio stations.
The problem here is it's backed up so far they couldn't find an alternative route, or the protest happened closer to the city. This is a turn entering the city proper.
Blocking traffic as a protest tactic should work for about 20 minutes- just as long as it takes a massive police unit to descend on you, crack your skulls, and throw you in the back of a paddy wagon. If you bring cars or other barricades they should just bulldoze that shit into the shoulder. Then charge everyone with one count of kidnapping for every car that they trapped on the freeway doing this shit.
Whatever your cause is, if you start fucking with me you've made me your enemy.
It's amazing what liberals will say when they think no one cares.
EDIT: I mean really; who sits in a traffic jam and then thinks to himself "I should send rape packages to a foreign civil war on the other side of the planet because I want people tangentially related to the protesters to be raped to death"?
Death to everyone who blocks traffic.
Oh I agree. I just thought the comment I quoted was an odd tangent from, you know, the people actually blocking the road.
I admire the desire to go after the source.
Seriously,
I could agree with your cause 100000%, but if you pull this bullshit, I will fucking wish bodily harm onto you .
Blocking roads is the most retarded way to try to get attention or goodwill towards your cause.
The same kind of person who takes sides in long-festering conflicts on the other side of the globe, in a country he cannot find on the map, based on what the TV man told him.
The average liberal is a rape enthusiast.
I don't like traffic jams either, but if you were gonna block traffic, this would at least be a reason: an actual genocide.
Thing is, it's not a genocide in Seattle, now is it?
That's the less liberal sub
I agree. If you block freeways you deserve to get run over. It was true when BLM did it, and it is true now that a dumbfuck ethiopian tribe does it. Not sure why this sub would take the contrary position unless it's just "haha get fucked Seattle".

There is a difference. They were blocking roads to block trade, not to inconvenience random people.
True.
what, exactly, do they want the citizens of seattle to do?
They claimed to be bringing attention to the issue, from the replies it looks like all the wrong attention. There are a lot of Ethiopians around here, and these jerks just severed plenty of goodwill they might have had.

It isn't mail-in ballot only. But ballots are mailed to all registered voters iirc.
Fair enough, but universal mail-in voting is basically a guarantee for voter fraud.
Yeah that's true
Yeah, I actually don't disagree entirely with blocking traffic as civil disobedience. But you've got to know how likely it is to push people against you.
Send money like the US is doing with Ukraine
But don’t they care about all of their fellow black people they’ll be making late for wor- oh…
If it worked for Ukraine maybe it will work for Ethiopia. What is the reason why one receives huge amounts of money and the others don't?

Bet they had very different opinions in 2020 when it was BLM doing it.
