She Stems? Woman leaves Engineering program to be influencer (archive.ph)

This is the difference between merit based and a qouta. With a qouta, you end up with women like this who'd probably be happier being a model or stripper than any kind of engineer.

Merit based you weed out those who had a passing interest early or just can't keep up. Rough but that's life.

Equity quotas hurt the most qualified women or minorities in fact, because the companies who care about hitting those checkboxes are going to stop at the first minimally competent warm body that meets the criteria. They won't keep looking through the resumes to find a better candidate.

Plus, anyone with half a brain and the ability to pattern-recognize now has to approach any woman/minority hire as if they're minimally competent, at best.

More than likely, they're instead absolutely worthless and impossible to fire because they're a woman/minority. Ask me how I know.

I watched a female engineer give the most embarrassingly ignorant presentation in front of an old work group, where guys who I don't think even had an associate questioned her.

I wonder if giving the most incompetent employees presentations semi-regularly for them to humiliate themselves is an effective way to get many to quit.

Ah the Japanese strategy, torture your employees, make their lives a living hell till they quit...

God, I fucking wish it was rhetorical.

I've seen 3 auditors turn what was at the time a fifteen minute process into over a hour and fifteen minutes. Then only to blurt out an excuse that the electronic system they were messing around with(their own system, at that!) must have been updated and changed.

If you're like me, and ever done IT work, I know the exact expression that's on your face right now.

In another job, we had a technician that was so bad I got pulled in as a favor after I had left the job just to tell them what was wrong and what needed to be fixed.

And right now I'm dealing with a regional governmental bureaucratic takeover of a certain set that's basically ruined all the automated supplies request I need to do for my job. And because my company doesn't have the money to basically bribe people for said supplies, it really, really sucks to be me.

What's worse is that I have to be really, really careful whom I even breath this aggravation to. Cause the moment I point all this out... well. You can imagine.

They won't keep looking through the resumes to find a better candidate.

They won't keep looking because those better candidates were already hired by companies like Google or Facebook that have mountains of cash to throw at diversity candidates. They also snapped up the next 3 tiers of diversity candidates.

So all that's left for the rest of the industry is the dregs, and then that's used as evidence that "more must be done!" to get the correct diversity numbers, which reinforces the desire of the Googles and Facebooks of the world to hoover up even more of the marginal talent.

That’s a sort of anti-competition strategy as well. If there are only a thousand truly qualified women in programming, and they force every company to have a quota, then the biggest companies will have qualified women and the smaller companies will be saddled with incompetents.

When the startup I worked at grew too big we split into two companies and employees got stock in both. Once you get to 50 employees you start getting into the really bad regulations.

Was better to waste money accounting for services back and forth than be forced to hire equal opportunity retards.

She says she now rakes in about £30,000 ($34,400) per year thanks to lucrative endorsement deals.

Not enough.

She would've made more as an engineer. And she has a vagina and a foreign name, so she would've been hired immediately for diversity points.

I felt too pretty to not be in front of a camera.

She's not obese and she knows how to apply makeup. Other than that she looks like a plank - figureless, titless. Nothing plastic surgery can't fix, I suppose, but still.

She'd better hope she can improve on that income quick, or she'll barely be able to cover the cost of hiding her aging in ten years.

I would just despise anyone who said this with a straight face, even if it was objectively true.

Just about any non-obese girl under 30 is pretty in makeup. She's nothing special. On a sunny day, I can walk through the park and pass multiple girls who look as good as or better than she does - and in far less makeup.

I don't see her being able to compete with younger women for long, not without investing almost every penny she's making into gym memberships and cosmetic treatments/surgery.

She thinks she's a knockout just because she knows how to paint her face, but she has no grasp of how fucking temporary and brief her prime years are, and no fucking grasp of where she truly sits on the pecking order of female beauty. It won't even be five years before she opens instagram and sees some girl younger than her, probably 17-21 years old, who just signed up a month ago and already has double her follower count without even trying or having any professional equipment on hand.

Maybe she can prove me wrong and be one of those women who ages like a fine wine, but that's fucking rare, and typically assisted by liberal injections of money that she doesn't have.

This is the result of the raw commodification of female beauty via the internet. Every “free” woman in the world now weighs her potential as a mother or worker against her potential earnings through online sex work.

If a woman has a cute face and a thin body, or an average face and a nice body, she can expect to earn a large sum of money over her prime years of 18-28. If she has both a nice face and a nice body, she can expect to earn a mint over that same time period. Keep in mind: she can augment both her face and body with makeup and surgery. And this is money she makes sitting on her ass in her room, simply existing.

This is a serious calculus for every girl now. If you have a baby daughter in 2022, know that she is counting down the days until she hits 18, weighing her objective beauty against a career in sex work. That calculation will take place regardless of how you raise her.

That is 30k after taxes but is still not that much. That is less then 3k a month. A good engineer makes a lot more but it is also a lot harder to be a good engineer.

Kind of fun fact, there were 2 girls brought on a project, the project was support for a financing app on the same floor as me. Neither of them had any background in tech but had some experience in financing.

Do you know what happened? Both of them quit in a year.

This is yet another reason women don't deserve shit.

They join a high paying corp, they get pregnant/leave for whore shit.

They join the Military, they get pregnant and leave/act like whores.

There's literally no reason to hire women in any role that isnt menial bullshit. More than half of them will immediately work towards getting knocked up so they can take a year off, multiple times sometimes, or they leave eventually anyways to be a skank for social media.

Fuck the stupid broads.

Prescient reminder that the Damore Memo revealed that Google created fake, menial jobs to fill with diversity quota hires, while all the real work was done by White men and Asian men. Everyone's been glossing over this for years.

But the brunette soon became bored with academics and began experimenting with make-up looks instead of writing her essays. “I never wanted to be there in the first place,” Llorente told The Sun about her decision to drop out of her course. “I was spending all my student loans on different [cosmetic] palettes and would lose myself in make-up.”

Imagine if women had to spend a whole month a year with no makeup, life would change dramatically for these “e-girls” who are just acne riddled and bland in reality.

Are these the same loans they want us to “forgive”?

My parents have friends who have a daughter. She is currently finishing her MSc in (astro)physics and has the change to do a PhD (prof already made her an offer).
She is instead considering pursuing her "twitch" career. She currently streams on the side and is making a whole of ~100€ per month and "already got invited to some twitch events for networking" (who were telling her she will be big).
She thinks if she focuses on that she will be more successful. Problem though is - she isn't great looking. She looks okay (6-7), but nothing like successful streamers.

Will be interesting to see how this develops (I don't really know her, so I don't really care).

What an interesting way for her to say she wasn't smart enough.

Going through engineering there were a ton of people, men and women that were weeded out because they didn't belong. Only about 20% made it all the way thorough
