I honestly don't know how the people who did it live with themselves. I consider them to be criminals, whether or not there's a law to describe it. What they did (and continue to do) to him would have left him in a mental hospital, if there was anyone left who cared about him enough to realize it's where he needed to be.

Not to dump on the speedrunning community, but you need to have a certain level of autism in order to be a member. You just do. You devote your live to shaving tiny amounts of time off playing a game in a very specific way over and over and over. It just doesn't sound fun. I don't care how much I love playing games, I just couldn't do that to a game I enjoyed, or it would kill it for me. I'd stop playing and start gaming the game. At that point it's more work that game. And for what? You get your name on a website as the fastest time, until someone beats it. So it's no wonder that it attracts societal outcasts.
No offense to any speed runners here, but speed runners were always spazes. You have to have something a little wrong with you to put up with the sheer amount of dedication it takes to do what they do. Like, it's impressive shit. Don't take it the wrong way. It's just... so much time spent doing the same thing over and over and over. If you weren't crazy before getting into it, it sure as shit will change you.
The poor guy was good at speedrunning, then trooned out to endlessly whine about opreshun instead of doing the performance that used to draw a crowd to watch.
Provided he wasen't faking the following : the debilitating wrist pain preventing him from speedrunning took his job and obsession away, so his brain went on to obsess over "transitioning".
I can relate to constant pain taking away your favorite hobby and most activities can make you go insane. Lots of pain while awake + never getting proper sleep because even asleep the pain keeps the brain in higher than normal alertness and shallow less reparative sleep, that can make anyone insane.
The thing is too, the quality of the speedruns have really gone down too since it changed. It used to be semi-seriously taken [but still lighthearted fun] of running through the games as fast as they can... now when you see a GDQ run it is basically people just advertising their twitch stream and hardly caring if they really get a good time just goofing off.
Look, I never expect for someone to get a world record in a GDQ, but when you are going to perform, and this is supposed to be the top of the top for speedrunning, at least act like you are trying to get good score lol
