You gotta be almost entirely ignorant of the current social trends if you ever thought this wasn't going to be pozzed to hell and back. I've been saying this one every post about this series, it will be a total shitshow. I fully expect every trash SJW trope, from obnoxious gays to ham fisted racial metaphors. They're going to try and twist the story so some wonderful woman/nonbinary vaguely brown people set everything up and the fellowship just took the credit. Fuck, I fully expect them to have it so their new characters (I'm not even going to pretend they have any respect for the actual lore, it's all going to be new characters, some will just have names taken from Tolkien) have it perfectly set up to stop Sauron for good and some white guy messes it up. I only have negative expectations for this series.
My only hope is that having such a huge cultural franchise being so obviously politically molested will force a few more normies to realize what's happening, if only a little

I can't wait for a women so lightweight I could backpack her like Yoda for a day and only get slightly winded beat up 2 dozen orcs and out-maneuver 3 dozen goblins that are twice her size. I can't wait for the fat lady to be some important princess who sasses the main "hero" and puts him in his place with her superior knowledge and wisdom of heroism. I can't wait for the racism episode, and the sexism episode, and gay episode to preach and soapbox about modern politics and ignore traditional concepts of bravery and self-sacrifice that brought us stories like Lord of the Rings to begin with. I envy the dead, who know peace from such evils and blasphemy.
Let me guess the characters with just this screenshot. Gandalf is the whale in the top middle, Sauron is the white dude top right, Frodo and Sam are the muslim and the fat chick with glasses, Gollum is pick any other random white dude. I'm off to a pretty accurate start aren't I?

The Wheel of Time is going to be an absolute disaster as well. Same kind of casting problems and the showrunner has actually made threats to turn more characters gay if people complain.
Showrunner is also on record saying that worst girl (Egwene) is his favorite character.
There's a hell of a lot that makes her one of the worst characters in the books, but in summary she has overinflated self-worth and refuses to learn from her mistakes. Just like the modern woke
I foolishly held out hope. I plan on finishing the trilogy of books and simarillion. I am also on the last Wheel of Time book and I seriously doubt I’ll watch that show.
I keep wanting to get into it, but it just feels "off". Like they deliberately do (or don't do) certain things to keep from being sued by the BBC for being too derivative of Top Gear. But I kinda stopped watching it mid-way through the second season, so maybe it's improved.
Disagree. Backs Sails is one of the best series of the last 10 years. Justified and Bosch are also good. If you're talking strictly about Amazon originals, then I can't disagree.

Lord of the Rings was great because it was a wholesome Christian story acted by beautiful, talented people in amazing open sets.
It cannot be repeated with such ugly actors. Both their body and their soul are warped and twisted.
