I have a relative that used to be an airline pilot before he returned in the mid-2010s. He advises those he knows to avoid flying because they're letting the diversity hires fly. He also had to tell his son (who got his pilot license and has tons of hours flying small craft) to give up even thinking of flying as a career because he's a white male. The son is probably going back to college for something else since that route's closed to him but he's in a holding pattern for the moment.
