It’s so crazy to think that there’s a decade’s worth of Star Trek product that I haven’t seen and never will. Meanwhile, in 2001 I was at a Star Trek convention in Las Vegas and getting drunk at Quark’s bar because the big screens there were showing a preview of the upcoming Star Trek Enterprise show that couldn’t be seen elsewhere. But then the first two reboot movies happened and they were so stupid I just walked away.
They never cared about accountability. It was always funny how dems insisted that “kids in cages” was the most horrific human rights violation imaginable and Trump needed to be taken to task for it. When you pointed out that it was a practice started under Obama you immediately got “that’s whataboutism” or “that’s in the past.” Apparently, if you committed a horrific violation of human rights a year ago it’s OK.
It’s stunt casting. Shockingly (or not), audiences did not show up to watch a black, mincing, man in a dress as the Doctor. So even though there’s currently no future for the series in place, they brought in an actress who hasn’t been a part of the show for some ten years, but was a part of it when it was very popular. The problem is that they did this same shtick about year or so ago when they brought back David Tennant for a couple of specials. The ones where he got lectured about not being a proper Timelord, because he was male presenting, by a tranny.
To each his own. I think it actually is interesting that they went through the effort of getting vintage jeans that makes sense for the setting, rather then just buying modern stuff with an attitude of “who’s going to notice jeans when we have an important lesbians during the post apocalypse story to tell?”
This situation is hilariously hypocritical. For years we’ve had liberals insisting that we Americans have a duty to let in all refugees. They’ve ignored others’ concerns about abusing the system, not bothering to integrate into society, etc. by labeling anyone with those concerns as racist. Now this afrikaner thing comes up and suddenly being a refugee isn’t enough. Meanwhile, the “racist” people haven’t had to reverse their position at all. Hell, even if they were just racists they’d be consistent in accepting the afrikaners. What a weird self own the liberals engaged in, where they positioned themselves such that the “evil racist bigots” come off with infinitely more integrity.
Good DEFEATING evil? You bigot! Do you think the lesbian space witches were evil when the Jedi inadvertently murdered them? Do you think Jedi Korean was good when he invoked the oppressive patriarchy to give his adoptive daughter figure permission to kill him in revenge for saving her life, thus denying her the satisfaction of a proper revenge lady boner? YOU’RE A MONSTER!!
You know, my gut instinct was to say that sounds stupid and why would someone turn on their family for wrongthink. Then I remembered that whole thing with Alec Holowka and his sister siding with the woke mob. The Pope’s brother is going to be excommunicated and condemned to burn in hell. All the liberals on Bluesky have to do is ask.
They didn’t simply roll over. They embraced it. They informed on people who dared to gather in numbers without properly social distancing, or didn’t go down supermarket aisles in the right direction, or failed to wear a mask in their presence. Then they ignored all those supposedly vital, life saving protocols in the name of protesting on behalf of St. Floyd without questioning how odd it was that the world’s most deadliest virus was apparently socially aware. Then when the vaccines rolled out they swallowed the experts’ bullshit about natural immunity—which had literally helped humanity survive for all of human history—simply wasn’t good enough.
Anybody who didn’t come out of 2020 - 2022 without realizing how hopeless humankind is didn’t pay attention.
I loved how the terror alert would always go up on holidays and the anniversaries of other terrorist events. Even though neither 9/11 nor the Oklahoma City bombing occurred on holidays or the anniversaries of any relevant events.
