He's probably referring to the myth of two-spirit people among native Americans. And he is right that it was applied to ancient civilizations, but only starting in 1990 when LGBT natives wanted to have a way of distinguishing their LGBT-ness from everyone else's. Because they had to be the specialist of snowflakes (yes, that's not a term that was around in the 90's, but if they can apply a new term to their past then I'll do the same to them.)
I think the AAA game developers need to stop wishing they were Hollywood. They spend way too much money on making their product cinematic (thousands of hours of dialogue voiced by famous actors!) which requires obscene sales requirements to break even. Then they say a title under performed despite selling a million+ copies. Not that Hollywood doesn't have the same problem of spending way too much on actors and ... I'm not even sure what they waste so much on. Yet story, the easiest and cheapest thing to get right from the start, they skimp on.
"The statue, named "NOW", is a female figure emerging from a pink lotus. It has braids shaped as horns with a judicial lace apron. It is meant to pay homage to Ruth Bader Ginsberg and her fight for abortion." Shit, man, it's been explained to me and I STILL don't get it!
Lara Croft was beloved. Granted, she was pure coombait, but still. I feel like there is a place for female protagonists so long as they’re well written. Frey would be an annoying cunt even if she was a man. Terra! People liked Terra in Final Fantasy 3.
I used to read the Sci Fi Writing subreddit. When the historic sci fi bookstore, Uncle Hugo's in Minneapolis, burned down during the peaceful St. Floyd's protests they considered it a noble sacrifice for the cause.
The sci fi fandom isn't worth interacting with.
