Interesting sidenote: I'm writing a science fiction book about a society where affirmative action eventually destroys life on Earth from weak female and minority leaders taking over and turning themselves into dictators.

Just this very concept has caused multiple editors to refuse to work with me, not because of anything I've done but the very idea that women and minorities could fail is so offensive to them that they don't want to be involved.

It is so bizarre how people refuse to acknowledge the concept that affirmative action could lead to shitty, incompetent people holding power. That's literally how it is designed, to push the worst up simply because of their skin color.

If we can't even criticize it in FICTION what the fuck does that say about the entire concept?

This reminds me of an incident I experienced in college. A friend was talking about the Orion Scott Card book Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Columbus. That book presents an alternate timeline where Columbus never went to the Americas, so the natives grew I disturbed and eventually invaded Europe. The person he was talking to was visibly agitated at the suggestion, even in fiction, of Native Americans being anything other than victims. He kept interrupting my friend to say “but that’s wrong! Europe invaded America!” My friend kept trying to explain that this book was positing a fictional alternate timeline but the other guy simply wouldn’t acknowledge that. It’s terrifying how many people can’t even allow the idea of a a worldview different from theirs to even exist.

I know what you’re getting at. That thing about low intelligence people being unable to understand hypotheticals. However the person my friend was talking to was a writer. Granted, he was a gay writer, in that he was gay and wrote only gay stories about gay people doing gay things. Still, you’d think a writer can wrap his head around the concept of an imagined scenario. I think it was more that he just couldn’t tolerate presenting Native Americans as anything other than peace loving treehuggers who were beaten down by the white man.

I guess it's something Disparu mentions repeatedly in the last couple of months. The 'writer' most certainly cannot imagine things that don't align with his 'lived experience', so everything has to bend to his worldview. He probably couldn't write a normal sex-scene right after watching porn of it.

His lived experience is that native americans are poor victims (actual reality might disagree with that but it's what has been hammered into his brain for ages), so there is no way they cannot be victims.

Can you let me know where I can read it when it’s done? I’ve written a short story that’s on Kindle but definitely not what you are writing about. You ever read Farnham’s Freehold by Heinlein?

Sure, and thank you for recommending Farnham's Freehold I love old sci fi and haven't run across that before.

How was your experience self publishing through Amazon?

Very easy actually. To this day I get 33 cents for every purchase

You're going against one of the tenants of the new religion so it is to be expected. Doubly so given how subverted the publishing industry is. You will probably have to self-publish and/or network with other dissident writers and publishing houses. Think Zero HP Lovecraft, Passage Press, and the like.

This is a long and difficult path but that's the dissident's lot. Definitely get that twitter game on point! Network network network

I agree but I can't even get to publishing, I either have to self edit or find a bunch of beta readers to help. Not so excited about trying to self edit, the Epistolary style of my book makes it a fucking nightmare to edit.

Styxxhexenhammer has self published many books to success. I think Amazon of all places has the tools to make this possible but I might be wrong.

Don't let it discourage you, king

The self publishing bit I'm not so concerned about, it is finding a willing and professional editor who won't waste my time and money.

After that I need to find a decent artist to design a cover, which I probably should have done months ago. Between the editor and cover this is going to get expensive quickly.

There's always MidJourney for your cover art.

That's actually an excellent idea, I hadn't considered using an AI program.

Damn they are going to drive artists out of business quick with that.

And authors and editors too. ;)

Seriously though, your job is going to be so much easier because it will get to the point where all you do is summarize your bullet points like tweets... point a, point b, therefore c... and the tool will write perfect prose. Maybe you'll just pass some style flags and qualifiers to make it your own. Only truly unique analyses and experiences will be worth anything.

I read about a slide in a leftist presentation that said the following: any attempt to attribute disparities of outcome to anything other than discrimination is itself an act of discrimination.

If you believe that any disparity between people is earned or otherwise correct, then you are literally a racist. Under this rubric, work ethic and talent are magically and perfectly distributed evenly across every identity demographic. Therefore, every disparity in success between identity groups is automatically classified as stolen via systemic discrimination. Sound familiar?

Diversity quotas are the policy manifestation of this neo-communism. If identity becomes your most important criteria for assigning roles and responsibilities, and the distribution of merit between groups is not equal, then your organization will necessarily suffer a collapse in competency.

Idiocracy was mostly just blood libel against Appalachian whites. In reality, our “stupid future” will be the direct result of mass immigration of low IQ non-whites.

On the one hand, it is an obvious critique of 2000sAmerica and its conspicuous consumption. On the other, give it a rewatch and look at how.... diverse and debased the population of 2500s America is.

It's ripe for a reactionary reading. Free idea up for grabs for anyone

It was only accidentally based, and that Appalachian bit is one of the early SJW compromises. They weren't about to show America get dumber by the proliferation of Tyrones. The predictive part was just, well, predictive. You don't have to subscribe to any particular ideology to poke fun at that.

Continuations of trends that were going on at the time. The mainstreaming of AAVE, as it were, was ongoing, as were efforts to implement socialized medicine.

The Constitution was written for a white, moral, Christian society. It does not function for any other.

The people who wrote the first amendment banned all non white immigration within a decade of the war ending.

They also declared war on Islam.

Their actions belie the revisionist idea of the founders.

What is this, reddit? I state a historical fact and you bleat the word source at me?

Naturalization Act of 1790.

So like I said, flowery speeches and specious bullshit don't change what they actually did. Contrary to popular belief there were more founding fathers than just Jefferson.

Even if the Supreme Court struck down affirmative action as discrimination (which it is of course) won’t colleges use the “whole person” nonsense to get around it? And some colleges have the idiotic idea that they need to mirror the population

I believe the affirmative action thing was a loophole provided by the Supreme Court, after they struck down race quotas.

Right, you can't have quotas, but you can give points.

The main way they avoid government oversight is secrecy, even at public universities.

I think it would open them up to lawsuits by rejected students. I imagine the details are hairy, and I don't know them. But it seems like what is being established is whether students who have been obviously discriminated against based on their race can sue. It happens to be Asians as the victims.

Forced integration itself derailed the Constitution. You can approve or disapprove, but rights were lost that had theretofore been reserved.

Affirmative action derails amendments to the Constitution that were intended to provide racial protections.
