I watched AppleTV’s “Silo” a few weeks ago and it had zero woke nonsense in it. I was really surprised, given how woke and trash most of Apple’s content is. It was actually pretty good too. Rebecca Ferguson’s acting was excellent. I believed she played her character as a woman with autism, or at least that’s how I interpreted it, and she knocked it out of the park with all the quirks and mannerisms (detail oriented, avoiding eye contact, self-isolation, interest in things more than people, etc).
I don’t remember Severance being woke either, but it’s definitely not for everyone. The show is a real slow burn, but I found it fascinating especially near the end.
Fair point. I don’t think it’s necessarily bad to have lighthearted fun with spooky stuff, but most people have no idea what they’re dealing with so they can take it way too far.
Gruesome stories of murder and torture, spirits of the dead, demons, witchcraft. These aren’t things that should be taken lightly like skeletons or the typical depiction of ghosts (essentially flying bed sheets). People who feel at ease with or even fascinated by such things may find no problem engaging with them further.
Like many things, girls are particularly susceptible to these things. Many young girls and even women find witchcraft and curses and all types of superstitions fascinating and exciting. There’s a reason why there’s a cottage industry of astrology, fortune telling and mediums all oriented towards women. More women than you would expect get into paganism and witchcraft these days. Unfortunately, when it comes to many slippery slopes, women are the first to begin sliding.
Back to your point though, I don’t think spooky fun is necessarily bad, but as a Christian I just want to avoid anything that glorifies such things, especially to children.
Many Christians don’t care, but the ones that do aren’t so concerned about the origins but rather the substance of what is being celebrated.
Fear, horror, violence, murder, suicide, resentment, revenge, paganism, witchcraft, sorcery, superstition, the occult, demons, monsters… these things are all associated with Halloween. For a non-believer these are just silly bits of fanciful fiction but for a Christian these things are very real and very evil.
For a Christian, seeing these things celebrated is like grandparents who escaped from Stalinist Russia seeing their grandchildren supporting communism. You know they’re doing it out of naive ignorance and they don’t actually have a clue what they’re supporting, but it grieves your heart to see them supporting it nonetheless.
Yeah, Sony has been making some terrible decisions for a number of years now. They’re obsessed with games as a service now, which is highly questionable in and of itself, but still they have yet to actually release a game using the games as a service model. On top of this, the PS5 OS UI is still trash three years later and they’ve not given anyone a reason to buy their console other than to play older PS4 games at 60fps.
The graphics are great but the gameplay is annoying. You feel extremely under-powered, tons of busy-work and there are annoying survival mechanics like eating and drinking that you have to constantly do. Performance also seems to get slower the longer you play.
I don't see how any of this is relevant. The current conflict was started by Hamas and the Palestinians. Whatever happens to them afterwards is their own fault.
I feel very bad for the few innocent Palestinians (mostly the children) who may be collateral damage, but war is brutal and a nation can't allow a tiger to sleep next to the crib... especially not one that just ate one of your children.
Not only that, but if one neighbor A seeks to harm neighbor B and you do nothing to protect them, then you're not loving neighbor B. Sometimes love means doing whatever is necessary to protect someone.
Also, love does not require approval or acceptance or "being nice". Sometimes the best thing you can do for someone is oppose them, with violence if necessary. If you have a friend who is drunk out of his mind and about to hurt someone else, then fighting him is the right thing to do, even if you have to hurt him in the process.
The "Christianity" espoused by the mother in the video is just a manifestation of her natural female instinct to nurture and avoid conflict. She's just interpreting her own feelings as being righteous and justifying it by cherry-picking scripture when in reality it's completely false and just a manifestation of her own personality. I'll just say, there's a reason why the Bible says women shouldn't teach spiritual matters.
This is very much the case.
The Left is 100% pro-Palestine and anti-Israel. Despite what many here believe, the Left isn't run by the Jews. Secular Jews are just a constituency of the Left like any other, but secular Jews are globalists so they're willing to give a pass to the rest of the Left as long as it forwards the globalist agenda of the Left.
Leftists get nervous when there are conflicts or contradictions in their ideology and they haven't been told what to think yet. Any "discomfort" you're seeing on the Left about this situation will go away as soon as there is an approved narrative that they can follow.
Both sides are NOT awful. There is no false equivalence here. Hamas and the Palestinians are unequivocally in the wrong. Saying both sides are bad is just the safe thing to say on this board because there are so many Jew-haters here.
It's not a controversial opinion among anyone with more than two brain cells.
I'll go several steps further and just say it. I'm pro-Israel. I've actually been on-the-ground in Israel and Arabs are allowed to move around freely and live a relatively normal life in Israel with virtually no restrictions. In contrast, there are "no-go" areas in Israel where Jews simply can't travel because they'll be violently attacked and killed. There are areas where even white Westerners are allowed because the Muslims want that sweet tourist money, but Jews aren't allowed because the Muslims want to kill Jews even more than they want to make a profit.
The entire history of the Jewish-Palestinian peace talks are basically just the Israeli government making concessions after concession only to be refused because the Palestinians have no interest in peace. Their life mission is to wipe the Jews off the face of the earth. "Peace" for the Palestinians is only time to prepare for the next attack.
Hamas and the Palestinians are 100% in the wrong here. People trying to pretend otherwise are either ignorant, stupid or evil.
This and Patriots.win both.
It feels reminiscent of the turn of the century Fascists vs. Communists scenario with both sides are frothing at the mouth and the classical liberals standing by watching will inevitably have to come along and clean up their mess once again. It's crazy how terrible humanity is at learning from their past mistakes.
Hollywood only makes one movie or TV show. It’s about a strong, powerful, perfect woman who does everything better than all the men. They just take this one story and have it wear all the actually popular entertainment properties like a skinsuit in order to sell it to the masses.
Leftists, wearing legitimacy like a skinsuit since 1848.
I saw the movie. I appreciate the awareness it’s bringing and the message behind it, but certainly not a showcase for award winning filmmaking, writing, acting or visual effects.
Predicting it won’t win an Oscar is an easy prediction but saying it’s because of bias is a bit much.
I’m not watching the clip so I admittedly don’t have the full context but I believe Larian Studios is a British company and joking about beastiality is a very common theme in British humor that pre-dates the internet.
Is this pushing degeneracy or just an example of vulgar British humor?
Christian conservatives in 2013: “Legalizing gay marriage will lead to the normalization of pedophilia and bestiality”
Gay marriage is legalized in 2015
Democrats in 2023: “The trans community has a right to sexualize your kids!”
Exactly.
If GIRL A saw GIRL B make a mistake, she'd also point the accusation at the individual.
If GIRL A saw BOY B make a mistake, she'd also point the accusation at all boys.
Also, when people do this to your face they're usually either (1) trying to bully you, or (2) flirting or playfully teasing you, so this interaction is more complicated than someone earnestly believing the generalization.
Killing babies is so edgy.
