By this time in their lifespan, previous generations had at least 5-10 big titles to convince people to drop their money on them. All they offer is a hardware upgrade that's years behind pc
Are there any games where the opposite is true: that the PC port of a console game is horribly unoptimized?
That used to be the case for certain console games (eg. MGS, GTA: SA) that were heavily optimized for a particular console and used console-specific features. And I keep hearing how certain things like GPU memory bandwidths are so much higher on consoles due to the custom SOCs they use, so it should still be possible. But I've yet to hear of a concrete example.
You can get a refurbished OLED switch and a PS4 pro or Xbox 1 X for ~$415 and that’s without any real bargain hunting. There’s no “next gen exclusives” worth a damn, starfield was a flop and frankly made me not upgrade anything aside from maybe switching out the one S I have for the Series S which I only really use for MCC with friends…
Series S is the best console atm if you still want to upgrade. I am biased but I love it. Put emulators on and I take it around often to play fighting games - new and old - with friends. Loads fast. Lightweight, small so easy to pack
I have no interest in any new/ modern games atm so the series S has got me covered plenty
Yeah, I've been pretty disappointed in the Sony ecosystem since the PS5 launch. The only upside is it makes it easier to spend less time gaming and more time touching grass.
The graphics are great but the gameplay is annoying. You feel extremely under-powered, tons of busy-work and there are annoying survival mechanics like eating and drinking that you have to constantly do. Performance also seems to get slower the longer you play.
I lost it when I saw the picture. Can't possibly risk alienating all 6 women who were going to play it and be offended if a female character was more attractive than them.
I didn’t really think about it until your comment, but from the perspective of a PC gamer with a PS4, the PS5 is an embarrassing flop. The only exclusive worth a damn is Demons Souls, and that’s a remake of a ten year old game. Everything else is either on PS4, on PC, or coming to PC eventually. And this is almost three years into the console’s life cycle? Insane.
Yeah, Sony has been making some terrible decisions for a number of years now. They’re obsessed with games as a service now, which is highly questionable in and of itself, but still they have yet to actually release a game using the games as a service model. On top of this, the PS5 OS UI is still trash three years later and they’ve not given anyone a reason to buy their console other than to play older PS4 games at 60fps.
The only "games as a service" concept that's worth a damn is stuff like Game Pass and that only works because they get everything from AAA releases to random indie titles.
So... The Nintendo Switch, which came out in 2017, and was mid tier at best even then, still has the better game lineup this year? All Sony has to offer is a slimmer model?
That's a must buy! I can't wait to see what they do with it. I mean, the last of us haunted house at Universal Orlando was so awesome I can't believe they could screw this up.
You’re better off grabbing a refurbished original after the slim launches, mostly because the upgradeable internal memory of another terabyte would be far more valuable if the slim doesn’t have the space.
That's the plan probably. Looking at ebay for something around 500 with shipping. I don't want to pay anymore because with canadiam taxation ill probably be already at 600

Wasn't it supposed to be cheaper? I wanted to grab a ps5 eventually but one that is actually affordable

I have like a 2000 dollar pc and still prefer to game on my ps4. It is what it is pc gaming is not for me
