The stuff with his mother is to emphasize that he has a child-like view of morality.

How is it that this adult has such a naïve view of justice? Because he never grew up.

Probably best not to criticize the writing any more. These things that you don't understand the relevance of are in fact in service of the plot. You can say well you'd prefer it be more Twain and less Dickens, but that says more about you than the author.

That's a solution to the problem of raising your own children. It's not a solution to other people raising their children.

I want the fewest 8 year olds looking at debauchery and the dregs of adult life as possible, but without turning the adult internet into a playground or worse a panopticon prison.

Cyril is Justice, and there's no place for Justice in that world. He never changed at all in the entire story, he just ran out of Just causes.

In the beginning he's like, what you guys are just going to cover up this crime and move on, and he leaves the police force but doesn't become a criminal. He gets in with the empire intelligence and thinks now he's in the big leagues doing right and finds out they're just a bigger version of the local cops.

It's good and bad.

Andor is the closest thing ever made to the original trilogy, by a wide margin. It's like how Stranger Things S01 (only one I watched) is a faithful representation of the 80s. To me that's enough to recommend it. Its like going back in time.

In some ways it's better than the trilogy, such as in how the Empire is portrayed as a competent bureaucracy.

The writing is mixed because there's not much of anything that's not relevant to the plot, but there's a lot that's not much relevant (like all the kid-Andor parts). Some great writing and some uninspired writing.

The turn never happened. Syril didn't start sympathizing with the rebels, he became disillusioned with his Empire. Big difference.

He's right about to shoot and kill rebel Andor because at the end he thinks they're both bad, empire and rebels. That's why he has to die because otherwise Andor would. Syril can't let Andor escape and then Syril runs off and joins the rebels because at the end he's not a rebel.

Maybe he's not using it as leverage, but it's not really cope. It's a rational theory that I predicted many months ago:

I think they're using Epstein and JFK to coerce cooperation. on PdW and here Like I doubt we find out about JFK or Epstein because they'll make some offer to Trump like helping him deport illegals or save the economy.

...and then Trump gets $170 billion for the border passed through an R Congress that wouldn't even give him $2 billion for a wall last time.

Then just turn off the child mode on your kids' phone. Duh.

5
fauxgnaws 5 points ago +5 / -0

The actual solution is to make sites have to mark child-safe content, instead of gatekeeping adult content away from kids.

HTTP header "Age-Rating: MPAA(PG13), ESRB(E10+), ..."

Then no content is available to kids unless specifically vouched for, no ID check needed just turn on kid mode on their phones/computers.

Anybody with actual content for kids Disney or W3school or whatever will mark it kid safe and nobody else has to do anything.

It's almost like Israel is expecting the wheels to come off their blackmail network and are trying to do all their war crimes while they can still get away with them.

I think you're right, but it's more a tragic case of Trump being actually narcissistic.

He's reacting to the Epstein case as if it's entirely about himself, so he says it's a "hoax" because Trump had nothing to do with Epstein - his involvement is old news, nothing to see, move on. The thought of kids being tortured or criminal sickos roaming free doesn't weigh on him like a normal person.

People have always posited the idea that Trump is trying to make America great just as a side-effect of being excessively self-centered; have a wildly successful Presidency, turn the country around, and he's lionized forever.

I think this Epstain is pretty compelling evidence of the narcissism theory, that he's only helping America incidentally to make himself look good.

It was a huge mistake to set the expansion in South America.

There just isn't a compelling story you can make out of their history since most of the good stuff is lost to time. Sorry South America but you're boring. Only thing worse would be setting it in Wakanda.

The other big mistake is the main character being an ugly trans M2F.

The high-tech alternate reality juxtaposed with magic reminds me of the worlds of Stark and Arcadia in The Longest Journey, maybe the greatest point-and-click game ever made, and they could tell an interesting story there.

One of the criticisms of the latest expansion by a notable ffxiv personality (zepla hq) is that the dialog is just bad.

Like you have a quest step where you talk to a few villagers and they all say the same thing with no color/flavor, and everyone's dialogue is in the same voice, whereas in previous expansions they would say something unique but inconsequential from their personal perspective. There's tons of this dialog in ffxiv that seems to be for the girls that play (same appeal as pulp/romance novel I guess).

Somebody should compare the Japanese dialogue flavor to English because I bet it's much better and this translator is just a lazy, zero talent trans like usual.

Deporting 40 million people is going to shake up the political system and that seems to be his main goal.

He had to get funding past Congress, and lots of them are up for reelection and think they need Israel's support to win.

That's why I said he's boxed in. It's not about what Trump wants to do, it's about what he can get done.

That AI knows these truths just from the raw data is scary.

It means the only way (((they)) can hide now is through total information control.

So that's what's coming unless we somehow stop it.

Instead, we got a boomer who couldn't hold back his slavish devotion to Israel, and bent the knee immediately to Netanyahoo

I think he's just boxed in by AIPAC and situation. He didn't "launch a war of aggression on behalf of a foreign government", Israel attacked and we got drawn in by existing WWI-esque commitment to help Israel no matter what.

What if he'd said 'too bad Israel you're on your own', the political fallout would have been a nuclear winter on his term. Instead he defined a win condition for America (no Iran nukes), did a big show to make it seem like the nukes were gone, and that gave him the position to order Israeli jets back in-air.

That's a pretty good resolution. If he could reach the Israel monkey on his back to throw it off that'd be better but his reach isn't that great.

UK PRINCIPLE's ivermectin arm was withheld for 3? years and showed a 15% improvement, less than 1 in a million result was by chance (standard p=0.05 for publishing is 1 in 20). And they designed it to fail by sending the ivermectin in the mail 5-7 days after enrolling whereas big pharma drugs they gave in person after 2 days.

They claimed certain 15% improvement for one of the world's safest medicines 'wasn't worth it' because it didn't meet a threshold they added after the testing was over.

So I already knew HCQ was even better since it was done earlier than ivermectin and withheld longer.

Probably Republican party won't let his candidates in the primaries, not answering his phone calls, and that makes him feel impotent, which is literally the worst torture anybody could inflict on a raging narcissist like Musk.

With his own party he gets to choose every candidate. They'll never be more than a spoiler but Musk never thinks that far ahead.

"Elon tweets: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files."

Epstein files: "Epstein tried to get Trump out to the island to diddle kids, but he refused and cut off all ties with Epstein."

...that would be consistent with Elon's statement if he's in the files, but in a good way. Elon is a big fan of careful choosing words to mislead - his whole empire is based on it.

That's because the proposition was "everybody worships something, including atheists, even though they might not know it" not "I'm a Christian prove me wrong".

You're confusing it with a Crowder sketch maybe.

Kid is like 'but I said you said Christians worship Mary above everything else and now you're saying she's not worshipped as much as the trinity haha gotcha!'. This kid was raving like a lunatic and in a better day Peterson would have just reached over and smacked him upside the head.

As in he's been remote controlled by north Asia for 60 years not just 30 years.

They're literally doubling down on their conspiracy theory.
