Interesting question.

Going off of wiki's latest population numbers and 2024 medal counts and ignoring the "Refugee Olympic Team" or "Individual Neutral Athletes." Top 5 would be:

Any medal:

  1. Grenada: 2 medals / 112k people
  2. Dominica: 1 medal / 67k people
  3. Saint Lucia: 2 medals / 184k people
  4. New Zealand: 20 medals / 5.3m people
  5. Bahrain: 4 medals / 1.6m people

Australia, 9th.

Golds only:

  1. Dominica: 1 gold / 67k people
  2. Saint Lucia: 2 golds / 184k people
  3. New Zealand: 10 golds / 5.3m people
  4. Bahrain: 2 golds / 1.6m people
  5. Slovenia: 2 golds / 2.1m people

Australia, 10th.

Fun fact: India beats Pakistan in per-capital medals. 6 medals / 1.4b vs. 1 medal / 241m, but Pakistan has infinitely more gold medals.

1 Seal the border and stop the migrant invasion
2 Carry out the largest deportation operation in American history

He could end his platform there and it would be sufficient for the next 4 years.

16 Cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory, radical gender ideology, and other inappropriate racial, sexual, or political content on our children

Stuff like this is a bonus. Some of the others are mixed but it's decent on the whole.

Oh no. Someone is talking shit about us. This has never happened before in the last ten years and our skin is so thin we just can't take it. Better give them engagement.

Sort of. I believe there's still legit stuff there. DEF CON is like a game dev conference where John Carmack is giving a masters-level panel on graphics engine pipelining where the audience is a bunch of RPG-maker LARPers thinking, "he's just like me! I'm a dev too!"

The surrounding people don't need to be theist, but they need to use similar social tools to religion. Namely shame and reverence. Trying to "destigmatize" everything is one of the most destructive things the left has done to society.

Replace "sin" with "dishonor" and a society could be just as stable. But when the negative action stops causing any kind of stigma, both types would crumble.

You can have common doctrine, dogma, beliefs, and practices without the spiritual elements. Is that still a religion?

Here's DEF CON's statement (according to plebbit):

DEF CON thrives on community collaboration and has operated for over 30 years successfully working with hundreds of vendors including the dozens that have helped with our badges over the years. For this year’s Raspberry Pi badges, DEF CON hired Entropic Engineering to do the hardware development and firmware. After going overbudget by more than 60%, several bad-faith charges, and with a product still in preproduction, DEF CON issued a stop work order. Any claims that DEF CON did not pay Entropic Engineering for its hardware or firmware development are false. Unfortunately, we heard that these issues with Entropic Engineering were not unique to DEF CON. We decided at that point to finish the badge on our own. We paid to send engineers to Vietnam to work onsite to finalize and test the badges in order to ensure they would be done on time for the conference. We never removed Entropic Engineering’s logo from our badge, it is still on the PCB. However, Entropic was not involved in the design and production of the case, and we removed their logo we had added as a courtesy.

We were happy to still include one of their contractors on the badge panel session. Unfortunately, shortly before the talk was set to take place DEF CON became aware that unauthorized code had been included in the firmware we had paid Entropic Engineering to produce, claiming credit for the whole badge and promoting their coin wallet to solicit money from DEF CON attendees above and beyond what we had negotiated. When asked about the unauthorized code, the engineer said it had been done as a “joke” two months ago and forgot to remove it, and we decided as an organization not to have him on stage while we kept the slides in the talk giving him credit for his work. We communicated the change in advance of the talk, and this individual decided to show up for the panel anyway. He refused to leave, demanding that our security team remove him. Wanting to ensure that the other people involved in creating the badge were able to deliver their presentation, we complied with his wishes and escorted him off the stage, where he was free to continue attending the conference.

Any issues of non-payment are between him and Entropic Engineering, DEF CON fulfilled its financial obligations.

So, exactly what you'd expect hiring a company that can't market itself on merit.

I don't buy it. What's the point? They could have just let Kamala replace him and then run as the incumbent. Unless they were really that worried about "the first female president wasn't even elected, lol" for the rest of eternity.

Hypothetically, if you're going to get 32 months for just standing there, you might as well find a more efficacious action that carries an similar sentence.

Germany’s domestic intelligence agency took the dramatic step of classifying the Saxony state branch of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party as a threat to democracy—a potential first step towards banning it outright as unconstitutional.

The English being the bad guys doesn't mean Germany aren't also the bad guys this time.

I believe she was denied service for some mundane reason where any of us would have also been denied service. But we're not retards who take everything personally and run to social media to cry about it.

Pretend for a second that this hysterical overreaction was actually called for:

  • Animal Control: County
  • Public Health: County
  • Hospital: State (University)

Nothing in this story required federal involvement. If the CDC were abolished, if the entire federal government were dissolved, it would not have impacted her experience in the slightest. I'm surprised she didn't claim that the WHO was instrumental in her evening. "But they have to track rabies cases to see if there's an outbreak!" Okay, there could be value in that. How many hundreds of millions of dollars does it take to run a database server?

migrant hotels

I might agree if it were random arson that had a high chance of collateral damage. But it isn't. This is not the BLM style of burning down random stores in their neighborhood because they're throwing a tantrum. This is the targeted destruction of infrastructure created as a foothold in an operation to destroy their nation. It is not terrorism, it's a strike against enemy supply lines.

They would be justified in airstrikes at this point, but have to settle for the tools available.

Khelif, along with Taiwanese boxer Ling Yu-Ting, were both disqualified from their championships in 2023 after the International Boxing Association said they failed gender eligibility testing...

Sounds like someone actually fact checked this already, in the original meaning of the words "fact" and "checked."

Isn't Mastadon essentially a decentralized Twitter clone in terms of functionality? That means it's useless for actual discussion and more focused on feeling important when your little blurb hits a lot of eyeballs.

Lots of good recommendations in this thread, but going off just these, maybe Log Horizon?

Under British law, images can mean photos or videos.

Sounds like it would not cover drawn images. Which makes "making indecent images of children" sound quite bad.

“Making” indecent images covers a range of actions per its legal definition. It can, for example, include opening an email attachment with an image, downloading an image from a website to a screen; storing an image on a computer; accessing a pornographic website in which images appear in “pop-up” windows; or receiving an image via social media, even if unsolicited and if part of a group; as well as live-streaming images of children.

On the other hand, it seems that receiving an unsolicited image counts as "making," which throws actual severity of whatever he did up in the air again.

post-humorous

I think you mean posthumous, but are also right about it not being funny anymore.
