Failing NY Times runs op-ed by author who called the sheriff, county health nurse, animal control, CDC & ER doc when a bat flew into her house. Naturally, it made her think of Trump (archive.is)

Bats can bite you without you knowing and give you rabies, so I went in ready to be charitable.

We isolated the bat in our bedroom, making sure it couldn’t get upstairs where our daughters sleep, but it escaped through the door to the porch. ... next

...they off-hours called the doctor, animal control, then got rabies shots for more than $600.

This is embarrassing at every level. This woman should have been too ashamed to tell people this story and has made herself look like a nervous nelly and her husband a coward.

And the worst part: "this happened to us before, about five years ago", which means they weren't always a lost cause; clearly they let covid mania break their minds and they were no doubt complicit in their own fall.

You... don't get pre-emptive anti-rabies injections without a scratch.

Retards all-around.

Most doctors are perfectly happy to give you useless shots, especially if they can charge you hundreds of dollars for it.

I like bats. They're cute and fuzzy.

They're also less likely to hurt themselves, less destructive, and easier to catch, than when a bird flies into your house.

This bitch is both crazy and retarded. We don't need these people in our society.

Can confirm. We got a bat in our old farmhouse when I was a kid. We propped open the door, started shooing at it with brooms and sticks, and the bat was smart enough to take the hint and fly out the open door.

The only other thing that smart was the coyote pack we had in our area, which very quickly learned exactly how far my dads shotgun could reach and would not get any closer than that.

Pretend for a second that this hysterical overreaction was actually called for:

  • Animal Control: County
  • Public Health: County
  • Hospital: State (University)

Nothing in this story required federal involvement. If the CDC were abolished, if the entire federal government were dissolved, it would not have impacted her experience in the slightest. I'm surprised she didn't claim that the WHO was instrumental in her evening. "But they have to track rabies cases to see if there's an outbreak!" Okay, there could be value in that. How many hundreds of millions of dollars does it take to run a database server?

No no no. Wrong way around. Get rid of these things so this person has no help.. Whatever she needs,. I want it not to be provided so she'll leave. And the rest of us will provide it for ourselves.

Bats make me think of how the NYT lied about the lab leak theory.

And also about how Drumpf is a hundred times worse than Hitler.

tl;dr

After our visit from the bat, our sheriff’s department, public health department and university hospital all functioned exactly as designed. The C.D.C., a huge federal agency that works to protect every one of us from infectious disease, food-borne illness and emerging threats like bird flu, pulled through. The C.D.C. is part of what Mr. Trump’s allies would call the administrative state and is in the cross hairs of Project 2025, which proposes breaking up the agency… I want to believe Kamala Harris is right when she says “we are not going back” to a time when every calamity leaves us on our own.

Also this was fun:

Mr. Trump and the looming threat of autocracy, that he selected an anti-abortion hard-liner for his running mate and that here in North Carolina we have a lieutenant governor who recently claimed that “some folks need killing”

So are you outraged at the idea that “some folks need killing” or upset someone would be hardline against it? Make up your mind!

The use of Project 2025 tells you these people aren't disagreeing in good faith. Has Trump said one good thing about Project 2025? It's just boogeyman nonsense.

Has Trump said one good thing about Project 2025?

As far as I know...maybe...once? But it was accompanied by dismissal as well. He basically said he agreed with some of it, disagreed with others...and was in no way involved with it anyway.

You know, an actually sane take. Not that that stopped the media and their programmed retards from running wild.

I had a bird fly through a hole it made through the side of an AC window unit. Not going to lie, I'm not Mr. Outdoors so it spooked me. I just shut the bird in the room and used a blanket to guide it out the window. It wasn't that big of a deal. I can't imagine a bat is that much more harmful

To be fair, that may have been a demon.
