Nothing in this story required federal involvement. If the CDC were abolished, if the entire federal government were dissolved, it would not have impacted her experience in the slightest. I'm surprised she didn't claim that the WHO was instrumental in her evening. "But they have to track rabies cases to see if there's an outbreak!" Okay, there could be value in that.
