Mostly agree. However, in this case even the college grads are resisting this. It's people with masters+ who have gone insane looking at the data.

High School or less: 65% are sane, 35% insane

Some college: 61/39

College grad: 63/37

Postgrad: 38/62

I thought London was already one of the most camera-heavy cities in the world. Or are these new cameras?

The reddit mods are why I can't be bothered to care about the changes Spez is making. Yes, they are ridiculous, terrible changes simply designed to get Reddit more money by going after people fixing things that Reddit is too lazy to do itself.

But the reddit mods are (90+% of the time) ridiculous, terrible people who should be removed from the site en-masse and should never be given any form of power at all and have been lying about this whole thing from the start. They're not mad that the API changes may impact blind people (in fact, Spez apparently gave ground on accessibility options). They're not mad about 3rd party UI programs being impacted. They're mad because this change will impact their 3rd party mod tools that let them identify the WrongThinkers easier and blanket ban people across dozens if not hundreds of subs are jeopardized.

So, popcorn time.

I don't know if I'd put this one down to dementia, though - I'm fairly certain half the DNC and the MSM legitimately think that.

No, it is a direct contradiction of the claim that DeSantis is trying to get the rules changed.

"This is already being discussed by party leaders but DeSantis is not yet involved."

Most of them have lied under oath before congress, have meddled in state elections, have presented themselves as clear and evident dangers to the public by their constant and rapacious attacks on their users' privacy.

Lying in furtherance of The Right Side of History(tm) is a good thing. Meddling in elections in support of the "correct" candidates is a good thing. Being a clear and evident danger is fine as long as you're not a danger to the Party. And as long as they keep handing over all that data when asked the privacy violations are exactly what the government wants.

Why would they want to go after some of their best allies?

This one is way off the mark, because the Nokia brick phones are superior to any trash that Apple has put out in decades.

From the article:

The subject of microtransactions also came up in the session, with Esaki confirming that there would be no cash-for-currency MTXs in the game. Of course there’s a car pass, welcome pack, and race day car pack available at extra cost over the base game — all included in the Premium version — and a VIP membership which includes cars, vanity items, and a permanent credit multiplier.

In a just world, a judge would look at this lawsuit, laugh loudly in the face of the plantiffs, and then order them to pay all legal bills, pay the city for the court's time, and then pay a massive individual idiot tax all on the basis of their social media posts.

In clown world, the plantiffs will likely get a massive payout, and the Seattle government will probably profusely apologize to them.

Fair enough on the price, I haven't paid attention to most MTX pricing in a while.

While you can have commercials baked into updates and such, if the client is offline that does add in a couple other complications though. First, there's no guarantee that the ad will actually load (especially if the user legitimately has no internet). Second, and more importantly, though - if you are in offline mode, then to make the purchase you're going to have to exit the game, switch to online mode, relaunch the game and then go to the store. That's a lot of time for the user to overcome the impulse purchase urge compared to the one or two button presses that are required if you're online.

From a corpo point of view a game which has no end of life built into it is a product you have to compete with forever.

Agreed, but always-online has two other advantages as well.

First, it lets the devs get a ton of additional analytics as to how often features are used, how the game's actually being played, etc. Now, that could - and occasionally is - used to actually improve the game, but seemingly more often these days it's used for the second advantage - micro-transactions.

By making the game always-online, you can splash the store page at the players every single time they want to play at all and you get more eyes on whatever the deal-of-the-day (or week or whatever) is. And by spamming people with the ads over and over and over it increases the chances of someone's will wavering and then you get another $2-5 or whatever a skin costs.

So, which is it Jack?

  1. You're utterly incompetent and had no idea what was going on in your company?

or

  1. You condoned what was going on, and you're lying through your teeth to us right now?

Cause one of those has to be true.

17
ailurus 17 points ago +17 / -0

Surprising, but good. 50/50 should be default unless

  1. you can legitimately prove some form of abuse was happening

or

  1. one parent chooses to waive some of his or her time.

They also did an animated Return of the King (but skipped Fellowship and 2 Towers for some reason).

I'm not going to say that Rankin/Bass didn't do some weird stuff (cause they did some really weird stuff), but their stuff was (overall) good, compared to the modern-day "this is weird and terrible".

What, firing the guy who was the most-watched tv host for a couple years tanked our network? Who could have seen it coming?!

Also on that chart, though, is the amusing fact that the most-watched thing was 270k views. The tweet itself has twice the views of that, and there's plenty of Youtube channels and streamers who crush those numbers. RIP, cable news. You won't be missed.

Canada's population is almost 39 million. From that population size, you can probably pick anything in the world and find thousands of people who want it banned.

An interesting find, but the title of the thread has one huge issue. No, the Pfizer vaccine was not approved because of one hospital's data. The Pfizer vaccine was approved because it, like the Moderna and J&J vaccines, were always going to get approved. This study may have just been the nominal "evidence".

Don't forget "It's all capitalism's fault!" being thrown in there as well.

46
ailurus 46 points ago +46 / -0

Hmmm. If profitability is the issue, why did you blanket ban one of the (if not the) most popular subs a few years back? And why are you actively helping moderators chase half the population off your subreddit for wrongthink?

2
ailurus 2 points ago +2 / -0

True, but

  1. This wasn't a typical accident. Maybe it happens from time to time and no one mentions it, but when was the last time a tanker truck went up like a bomb?

  2. The accident wasn't on 95, but rather under 95 and when the truck went up it took out the overpass.

10
ailurus 10 points ago +10 / -0

Not just a road closure, but an overpass getting blown up? And taking out a section of one of the most heavily traveled roads in the US? What the heck is this country coming to?

I agree the CA trial is a witch hunt, but that doesn't change the fact that Blizzard had become toxic well before this streamer drama you've become fixated on. And that's without getting into any culture war or political stuff.

Diablo 3? Reaper of Souls made it decent but the original was bad in gameplay, in forcing always-online for single player and the ridiculous real money auction house.

Warcraft 3 reforged? Absolute trash, still rocking a 0.6 user rating on Metacritic.

WoW Classic? Virtually no support of any kind, but paid level boosts and WoW tokens get added in.

Regular WoW? Dragonflight is apparently better but Battle for Azeroth was poor and Shadowlands was rubbish.

Diablo Immortal? One of the most predatory monetary schemes around.

Overwatch 2? Players were sold a false bill of sale now that the whole point of the new game (the PvE sections) are cancelled.

Why would I want to trust Blizzard?

It's only ever been about greed. Take from the rich, give to whoever is highest on the privilege hierarchy this week, and skim a solid percentage off the top for the party.
