It's almost any tech company, not limited to gaming ones.
multiple reasons. overhiring during covid, shit economy, realizing that you don't need as many people (twitter shwoed that to everyone), drying up of investor funds, ...
iirc some ceo said "2023 was the year of layoffs". 2024 will be "the year of company closures".
Yeah, a group of kids dancing to shitty music at a party and having fun. And that is somehow a problem?
If you honestly think that is the problem with western women, you honestly have no clue. And should definitely get out of the house more.
if you believe that it's bad that people have a list what you worked on... do you truly believe in what you did as work?
just take a look at your average resume. people are proud to mention all the projects they worked on. so why is sweet baby so different? (we all know the answer)
Yeah, I like making my own naan bread (yeah, I like Indian food).
It's cheaper and tastes better than "normal" supermarket bought stuff. And I enjoy the process a bit occasionally (can make large amounts and freeze the dough).
But if the store bought stuff would be better? I would find something else to make that I enjoy.
People REALLY don't like the fact that some people are just bad eggs.
Their entire world concept is build around it though. If everyone is just the result of their environment then personal fault doesn't exist. And everyone can be saved.
So if you forgive the most evil person that might change them, right? It also shows the people around you how virtuous you are by being able to forgive even the most evil person.
Oh and even when people see you as the bad egg. Still not your fault ;)
I think I contributed to a gofundme (or at least something similar) once. Was around the early years of wow (I want to say bc, but could be early wotlk as well). I was listening to "blu plz" a WoW radio show from Totalbiscuit (way before he blew up). Back then he got into flame wars on the official wow forums.
It was a crowdfunding for the surgery for some cat that had hydrocephalus. Don't know in what way TB knew the owner of the kitten, but he basically said the owner couldn't afford it. Wasn't a ton of money - low single digit thousand I think (!).
I donated $10. Why? The whole internet community crowdfunding thing was new. And $10 to help a cat, why the fuck not?
I do remember there were some updates & pics post surgery via TB, so it wasn't a complete scam.
Why are people like this? Our society is so fucked. We're literally incentivizing the worst kinds of people in society.
Big part is just luck. Be at the right time at the right place and some idiot boosts your crowdfunding and you get to be viral. Congratulations - you are set for live. Similar in other online activities like youtube & twitch & co. Or even video games in general - random famous streamer enjoys your game? Congrats, you hit the jackpot, while a better game might not get the attention. Hell a shit game might get more attention, because it is shit.
And your last sentence is true. If you can - be a scammer. I mean with the recent AI craze just look into generating women's pics (train a proper lora) and go on onlyfans & similar shit. Take the money from lonely losers. And I know that some people are doing that - but you could also get some of the cake. If you have no morals.
They removed it quite fast and "totally was not intentional, we filed a charge with police".
During the festival some people said similar things on stage though. "We respect the individual opininon of every individual".
Btw: While it is custom to invite every politician to the Berlinale the AfD got no invites, cause they're the evil ones. ;)
It's intentional. They even admit it on their own page that it has nothing to do with beauty pageants of the past and is now about "diversity & female empowerment".
Except the name obviously. Cause they need the name for the grift and cannot build something on their own.
From the FAQ (autotranslated):
"Why do we still need MISS GERMANY today and what is our motivation?
Miss Germany has long since ceased to be a beauty pageant and has three years ago to become the first mover for female empowerment. While "world peace" is still being promoted in the global arena and and Vaseline is smeared on teeth, we have replaced the catwalk and crown replaced by mission & megaphone. [...] We do not deny our past, but take responsibility for changing the present and the future. Especially in this, transforming the former beauty pageant into a contemporary platform and an award for female empowerment."
"Can I apply even if I was born abroad or live abroad?
One world, one unit. This is the motto of this year's selection process for the future MISS GERMANY. Even though the title explicitly states that the future incumbent should be a "German woman", we would like to replace birthright with affiliation. This means: you were born in Germany OR you have German citizenship (even if you don't live in Germany) OR you have two different citizenships OR you live in Germany, then nothing stands in the way of your application. We celebrate diversity, and that doesn't stop at skin color, sexual identity or your place of birth."
"I don't have an extraordinary talent or a special story, but do I still have a good chance?
MISS GERMANY offers a platform to every woman who wants to make a lasting change in the world and has a mission. You tell your own individual story. We love you and your personality, which makes you special and unique. There is no better reason to become MISS GERMANY, right?"
I've actually thought about the possibility of seeing if I could implement some kind of deep learning algorithm for my own game in regards to an enemy computer player because it would be interesting seeing if over multiple generations I could have a neural network playing against a player.
The problem with that is that the AI will be way better than the player. In general yes, you can use reinforced learning to train an AI to play vidya.
An old vid about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1eYniJ0Rnk
It spat out black everything. I especially liked this one:
Chained scholars eating watermelon
Honestly not that big of a deal. OpenAI used it as well for GPT.
GPT 2 used outgoing reddit links for their training set. "OpenAI developed a new corpus, known as WebText; rather than scraping content indiscriminately from the World Wide Web, WebText was generated by scraping only pages linked to by Reddit posts that had received at least three upvotes prior to December 2017."
GPT-3 then used Reddit posts itself. "OpenAI's GPT series was built with data from the Common Crawl dataset, a conglomerate of copyrighted articles, internet posts, web pages, and books scraped from 60 million domains over a period of 12 years. TechCrunch reports this training data includes copyrighted material from the BBC, The New York Times, Reddit, the full text of online books, and more".
They haven't published what was used for GPT-4 afaik.
Do well with the audience? Yes, sure.
Just look at any well received action movie/series in recent times. Action heroes are not much different than super heroes.
A single man trained in combat well enough that he defeats dozens if not hundred of enemies is essentially a super hero. The super power isn't really shiny besides "he fights really well", but it's still a power that no enemy possesses.
Now use the same format and move a bit into the fantasy territory. The super power is now something fantastic like flying. And increase the power level of the baddies as well - tech that isn't possible yet. Like flying combat suits that outperforms all "normal" soldiers in the movie's world.
Congratulations, you now have a super hero movie. If you want you can add some stuff like he came to the power, blabla, no one really cares.
Quinn was the initial starting point which lead to the discovery of GameJournoPros. And due to her people looked more into connection between "devs" and "journos" and found many many more examples without disclosure of relationships.
When watchpeopledie got banned off Reddit, they moved to an independent site, and it turns out it's run by and chock full of troons
lol no. But believe what you want. The lead dev is Egyptian. The main mod (who has now resigned) is not a tranny, but a troll.
Wingcucks are just not wanted there.
Yeah most likely.
Sharing a fitting story from Germany: there's a twitter account called "ÖRR blog" (öffentlich rechtlicher rundfunk - free public radio our "independent" media that we have to pay totally not taxes for).
It basically focused on interviews of those media and their "totally random" interview partners. They basically google the name that is showed and say "Hey, this totally random person is a politician for party X". Or "She works for a company that works for party Y". Most often the government / leftist parties are mentioned.
Then another twitter account showed up "örr-blog-blog" and said "Hey, there were farmer protests and you didn't mention that the same happened with CDU/CSU politicians". Answer "we didn't get submissions, but we can work together if you want that". Of course no answer.
Another comment: "Strange that we got targeted for the lack of reporting on a certain topic, and not the media who didn't do proper reporting in the first place."
The current shill tactic is "If you notice X, then you also need to make sure you notice Y and Z as well! Or you're evil!". But they will never offer help.
