When I came down to Florida for the National Conservatism Conference, I was a little concerned I’d get heckled in the hallways, or be subjected to the verbal abuse I occasionally get from Trump supporters. Judging by their rhetoric, after all, these are the fire-breathers, the hard-liners, the intellectual sharp edge of the American right. But everyone was charming!

Its almost like, if you behave like a sane, rational individual interested in honest discussion, you will be treated like a sane, rational individual interested in honest discussion. Funny that.

I also like the subtle admission that they are getting their asses kicked in the culture by this new right wing coalition. Backs up what I have been saying for a while that we can indeed turn back the tide and win, at least in this country.

Crowder talked about this the other day when he was doing his breakdown and I agree with him. We saw the state lie through their teeth, manipulate evidence, suborn perjury (likely, but not definitely proven), and then make the entire case all about the gun. Then we saw the media lie though their teeth, with some of the most bold faced lying ever seen. All but saying "Dont believe your own lying eyes. Believe what we tell you, because we told you to." And just for good measure, they proceeded to try and dox the jury for their footsoldiers to go after. We saw Antifa and BLM come out and say "If we dont get what we want, we will beat you and burn down your city."

And we saw the jury, made up of normal people who have been on the receiving end of this evil, stand up, square back their shoulders, and say "No. Fuck you."

The Left is currently reeeing greatly over losing what they though they should win, but they should be very afraid about this result. There is a group of people that Kurt Schlichter calls the "Militant Normals", what most of us on here call normies. The people who hate politics, just want to live their life, love their country, want to enjoy time with their family, and yes, just want to grill. And now they are being forced to care. And now that they care, they have one objective: Destroy the insane psychos on the Left trying to destroy their country and their families, so that they can go back to grilling again.

Congratulations Leftist, you got your wish. Normal people are becoming involved in politics. And the monkey paw curls.

I must be doing it wrong then, because I enjoy shitposting and laughs on a lot of the subreddits I follow for anime or games I like. Have never really had any problems and when there are disagreements it ends well as long as people are constructive and not needlessly flaming. Maybe I just rolled well on fandoms.

That said:

Those fucks are such lazy, miserable cunts who even encourage shitty, unhealthy behaviour.

I do feel this is very much the case with a lot of subreddits, especially the ones with toxic fandoms or that are politically charged. They are lazy, miserable bastards, who demand everyone else be as lazy and miserable as they are, because if someone is happy it means they could be too if they werent such lazy, miserable bastards.

Now with THAT said, I do believe there are more than a few people on our own "side" who have the same sort of problem. They have been in the trenches for too long, and seen too much, so now they are becoming increasingly bitter and angry instead of stepping back and taking some much needed RNR.

So I feel the same sort of stuff applies to us: Turn off the internet, go for a walk, take a deep breath, and go play some games or whatever your hobby is. The world isnt anywhere near as boned as you think it is, and things can change.

"Fuck it. I'm gonna play Snowrunner"

This is the correct choice. Such a great game, and much better than I thought it would be. I am just kind of sad it took them 6 updates before they added a logging frame for your rigs instead of having to rely on a trailer or mods.

The infrastructure bill had already made it through the Senate, it was just being held up in the House by the Progressives (who wanted to vote on the "Build Back Better" bill, which is the REAL nightmare one). Eventually, they managed to wrangle up enough squishy RINOs to pass it without the Progressives and moved on with it just so they can say they got something done, since all of the internal scuttlebutt is that BBB is dead and a lot of moderate Dems are scared to vote for anything else now because they expect to get absolutely fucked in the butt come 2022.

Are you Gizortniks alt-account or something? I havent seen him on here in a few days and this is usually his drum to beat.

As for the Fabians, I will say that they made one mistake and I think it will allow us to win in the long run: They may be smart, but the average commie is a raging retard who actually believes the propaganda. So now those types are getting elected, and actually pushing stuff, and now they cant just pretend they arent doing anything. So now people are aware their nations and way of life are under attack, and there is now growing pushback.

Which I would imagine is why the Dems in the US are running so hard. They know they are about to have everything come crashing down, so they just want to loot everything that isnt nailed down and make sure they arent the last one out the door. Because last out the door is going to be facing the mob, and is probably going to have a bad time.

Ah. I am not big on football. I just know Packers because my aunt is a hyper fan (to the point that she is a shareholder). And, like I said, everyone in Northeast Kansas knows and loves Jordy.

8
TheModernDaVinci 8 points ago +9 / -1

A few things that I can think of is that the team is owned by its fans rather than a single wealthy owner. They probably also deliberately pick for those sort of players. Remember that their last big time QB was Jordy Nelson, who is from a small town in Kansas and was the son of farmers, and during the off season he would work on his families farm. I should know, that is my chunk of the state, and everyone around here are Packers fans because of it (unless we are cheering on the Chiefs).

If its anything like I think it is, at least in my rural state, a lot of people have boats. Granted, they are usually cheap little deals with small, outboard motors. But you can take it to the river or the lake on the weekend, go cruising around, go fishing, or just whatever you want.

But we are probably talking about urban commies who think owning your own of anything makes you Mr. Burns-tier rich.

portraying her as a trailblazer of 'hopepunk'. WTF is that? Well, I've seen someone sum it up as 'comfort food for the kind of people who think frosting is a cake', and I can't disagree with that assessment.

sigh

You know, I too am getting a little tired of constant hyper-realism "Morally Grey" sort of stories. But I still like my stories to have, you know, a little something called conflict.

There are three styles of "punk" I like: Steampunk, Dieselpunk, and Cyberpunk. All of them have some form of conflict. Charismatic, kind hearted, swashbuckling rogues fighting for corset wearing maidens against big businessmen in their imperial holdings. Men fighting utterly grinding war with titanic machines capable of killing scores in seconds with armies who throw around chemical weapons with casual disregard. Some poor schmuck trying to cut out a life between uncontrolled gangs of deranged cyborgs and corpos who would sell their own mothers for a little profit (too bad they already did).

But guess what? They will all fight against the odds no matter how long they seem. Hell, a usual theme in Dieselpunk is that the threat is supposed to be unbeatable. And the hero either beats it to prove that it wasnt as unbeatable as people thought, or they face the death machine with a witty one liner, a grim look, and their rifle in hand.

So why, oh why, do I get the feeling that 'hopepunk' includes no such conflict? To answer my own question, because I have seen how these people write their stories. I have seen far too many stories done by these modern authors where the conflict is comparatively mild. Stuff like "Damn, I am poor and cant make rent." (and the "poverty" is almost always self inflicted by poor life choices), or its against a strawman of racist, always white. Then when they are forced to fight, they.....win. There is no real fight. The villain will likely even stand there and get hit or just miss obvious attacks, because otherwise the hero might lose. And we cant have that, that doesnt feel good to lose. Never mind that that is how you grow and learn. No, you need to be carried through everything and always win. Because "hope" and "good vibes" or some shit.

They have no lasting cultural impact and never will, hell she'll be lucky if she retains any relevance in 3 years' time.

More than that, I dont think they have a cultural basis to build OFF of. So few of them stick around with any sort of relevance. They cant use those dumb, icky "conservative" ideals like God, king, or country. And while they used to have Harry Potter, Rowling became an apostate so now they must scrub all use of her. So it makes it that much harder for them to actually create any sort of meaningful story.

True. Virginia is also the far more important of the two. New Jersey staying blue isnt a big deal, considering how deep in the tank it is. Virginia being blue is a more recent event, so it flipping back so hardcore is absolutely an indictment of Biden and the Democrat Party at large. And considering that her handpicked candidate is probably going to lose in Buffalo, AOC is probably on suicide watch right now.

TheModernDaVinci 3 points ago +3 / -0

Maybe, we will see. Apparently a lot of counties they didnt expect are flipping R, so who knows. At least with Virginia, even a lot of the media are starting to admit its over and there isnt any way back. So keep on holding the line, and hope it turns out true.

14
TheModernDaVinci 14 points ago +14 / -0

State flips 20% to the R favor from less than a year ago

R's look like they will gain significant majority in statehouse, going from down 10 seats to up 10 seats

Suburbs flipped HARD for the R's

Lead is currently wide enough even shenanigans are unlikely to flip it

R now own Education, which was about the only thing getting a lot of normies to vote D

APOCOLYPTIC!!!!

That said, I am not totally holding my breath just yet.

EDIT: Also, while everyone was eyeballing Virginia, a Republican may have just won governor in New Jersey.

Is Cyberpunk actually woke?

Having played it: probably not anymore than you would expect for a Cyberpunk setting. Sure, I see people make a big deal about, for example, people in universe having sex changes. But this is a cyberpunk world. You and most other people are cyborgs, who can swap out entire body parts, download your consciousness into entirely new bodies, and use bio-tech to create any sort of flesh tissue known or unknown. Changing your sex would be trivial by comparison.

But at the same time, I cant think of the game making any sort of big deal about things like gender or race (the guy who betrays you and sets the whole story into motion is a fat black man. What woke dev would ever show a black person in a bad light?). And most of the politics in the game are done from within its own world, and stuff that exist outside of it isnt any different from typical cyberpunk fair (ie: "Corporations Bad, Hyper-Consumerism, You are a replaceable cog," etc).

You basically just laid out what I've been saying for a couple years now, even down to what I called "the Second American Century".

Here is the full TLDR if you want to take a look. I will admit, there was a lot of stuff he was saying that I was like "Sounds pretty similar to Gizortnik."

and Water Wars is a bit too dramatic for just generic climate change.

For what its worth, he at least gives evidence to show he is not just throwing it out there without cause. Specifically, one of the examples he pointed to was the growing tension between Egypt and Ethiopia, as Ethiopia is damming up the Nile and responded to Egypt's complains with a "piss off."

My Decentralization of Firepower hypothesis would suggest that we'll have our own robots and AI's to counter with.

I can also think of two bigger reasons that something like that wouldnt happen. 1) AI is not the god-like entity we think it is, and the Leftist currently making it keep nerfing their own AI because it keeps saying mean things to them. 2) The eternal issue of revolution is that, at a primordial level in a healthy mind, man has a moral disgust and revulsion toward shooting their fellow man, unless they believe they have no other choice. No one has any such compunctions about shooting a robot. In fact, they may do it with glee. And if we didnt give up our guns to Uncle Sam, no one is giving up their guns to Zuckerbot or Woke Rasputin.

Not how automation or economics works.

Tell me about it. I have seen the change and growth in manufacturing he spoke of with my own eyes. Its just stuff that you wouldnt necessarily expect unless you knew it needed to be made somewhere. Specifically, my town has a factory that makes glass that will never automate because the robots just kept breaking it all. And another one is in the next town over making agricultural implements, which are customized to each farm and therefore also can not be automated (because you would need to keep switching the robots out). And that is before you get into gig-economy sort of stuff. I know a guy who blacksmiths as a hobby, but then he sells the stuff he makes because people will pay good money for handmade knives or chainmail.

I remember a breakdown of some more of these fantasies on a Lotus Eaters podcast episode. The moment I realized that these people are nuts was when one of the lefties was talking about how their ideal place of living was...Judge Dredd Megacities. Including deliberately destroying all land outside the Megacities so that everyone would be forced to be in one.

Whats funny is that this same person probably would have been up in arms and saying how Judge Dredd is a fascist and every cop is just like Dredd. But the same stories show that the reason that the Judges are the way they are is because the Megacities are SOOO over the top violent that their methods are needed to just barely hold it all together.

Honestly, I will say that I think the issues with schools and school boards will go down in history as the turning point in the culture war.

Most normies dont do political philosophy. They dont care about high-minded political issues. They are willing to have fractional tax hikes if its for the good of their own community. They will groan and roll their eyes at political stuff in their entertainment, but will look the other way as long as its still entertaining. THEY JUST WANT TO GRILL , DAMN IT!!!

But the second you start fucking with their kids, or their kids education?

Doom music intensifies

I wonder that sometimes too. I remember a few months ago, I posted a video I found interesting from a historian talking about what he believes the world will be like in 2100, basing it on both historical trends and current data. His argument was that he believes we will end the century more populist and more religious (although he believes religion will be VERY different from what we know of it now, and he believes we will see the rise of secular religions), and that those of us who are liberty minded will be very happy, especially in the United States. He even went so far as to say he believes this will be the American Century, just that the US will no longer be the only world superpower (he believes it will be more like pre-WW1, where you have several powerful nations, and the other nations have to decide who they will throw their lot in with).

Now this is not to say he was being Pollyannaish about all of this. He also believes that wars will become more frequent (but less intense), he believes large swaths of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia will suffer "Water Wars" due to climate change, and he believes there will be a bacterial-based pandemic that shows COVID as the weak illness it truly is (caused by a chronic overuse of antibiotics), and that we will end the century with several billion less people on Earth. Although he does believe most of the population decline will be from slow growth rates that are happening in most nations, not illness or war.

But no one was having it. They all were saying "No, we are all going to be have the boot stomp on our face forever. Its all over but the crying. I wish it was true, but we cant stop the doom. The cyberpunk dystopia is here and its not going away." One person in the comments was even saying that we will all be used as playthings by the few elites and hunted by their robot armies and that no one will have any jobs because the robots have them all. This despite the fact that all of the data shows that automation has basically reached the limit of what it can do, and most of it only exist to improve human workers now. And on top of that, there are actually a growing number of manufacturing jobs due to rising demand of artisan-made goods that, due to their individualized nature, literally can not be automated. You know, like the historian said would happen.

So either chronically depressed meatbags who dont want to fess up that maybe they are being hysterical because it would mean admitting they made a mistake, or shills deliberately trying to demoralize others. Take your pick.

IIRC, it didn't drop into the negative, it just went down for the first time in years.

I went back an rewatched the episode of the Lotus Eaters podcast I saw it on, and while it didnt include the disapproval, it did show that acceptance had dropped from 53% to 45%. So if its not negative, it is only a plurality, which isnt much better. Although I also agree with the point that Callum made. That being that its likely a reflection of "the movement" and activist types, while people are still supportive of individuals who happen to be gay, lesbian, bisexual, or trans.

There was an argument I saw made by a commentator I watch that the reason "Lets Go Brandon" exploded as hard as it did is that its the gaslight exploding. The Left has needed to rely on the gaslight for so long because its the only way they can push their agenda. But the more it clashes with reality and they demand reality change instead of them, the more they needed to rely on the gaslight. But the more they relied on the gaslight, the more they stressed it and pushed it to its limits.

Then they tried to gaslight over something that even the most unplugged normie knew was a lie. Well, that was that. The gaslight couldnt take it anymore, it exploded, and now the victims know what was done to them...and they're pissed. We will see it holds, but I personally am optimistic for the future.

This is true. And considering that we are undergoing a massive change in how schooling will be done (there has been an almost 50% increase in homeschooling and millions less students in public schools, especially urban ones). We have also started to see regression on certain issues due to the fact that the Left Wing has become unbelievably toxic over those issues.

For instance, there has been a study that showed that the amount of approval of the LGBT cause has dropped into the negative for the first time in years. The drop is driven almost entirely by young people turning against the movement, likely because they see all of these people they thought they were being kind to and supporting have turned into absolutely demented perverts and their response is "Suddenly, I am not so thrilled with this idea."

Also, I lol at all of the blackpilled doomers under your comment. I wonder if they even realize they are nothing more than the whipping boys for the Left?

While Covid more or less being confirmed to be a leaked bio-weapon is indeed the big one, I think there was another one that fell out of the news and it concerns me as well. Specifically, the one about how they destroyed parts of monkeys brains with chemicals and acid for the explicit purpose of making them have more terror than would normally be able to have, and over more minor stimuli.

Considering that monkeys have such close connection with humans in terms of physiology, I can only imagine the utterly demented and evil things they have in mind for that sort of research.
