Yep. Its the same reason that a bag clearly labeled "Peanuts" will still have a warning on it saying "contains Peanuts". And now, there are starting to be issues of people who assume cruise control means the car will drive itself. And when they crash "then why is it called 'control'?!"
Christ, that cruise control thing was a joke way back when it was first starting to become more common on cars; you'll see it in comedies from back in the 80s/90s. "Who the hell is driving?" "Ah, don't worry, I got it on cruise control."
People have been at least anticipating self-driving cars for a long time. But we kept getting told "But it's still a looong way off."
People have been stupid for years

This isn't a new thing just because Tesla is.
Nothing will ever be funnier than the disclaimer that was attached to the Red Bull commercials to make it clear that Red Bull would not literally give you wings.
I remember 10 years ago how my teacher told a story of a lady who successfully sued a motorhome company after she crashed her car. The story was that she got on a highway, got it up to speed, just stood up and went to do something in the kitchen. Her excuse was that the instruction manual didn't SPECIFICALLY stated you cannot leave the driving wheel while the car is mobile.
No really.
