I tried to read the Methods of Rationality, but only a few chapters. He's basically just a Mary Sue who has deductive capabilities like Sherlock Holmes and the knowledge base of a particularly autistic university student. As interesting as a "rational" look at the Harry Potter universe might be, I'd rather have a realistically smart character, not the generic pop culture idea of what a genius is. Also having Draco just casually say he was going to eventually rape Luna Lovegood in his first meeting with Harry just threw me out of it.
Basically. IIRC the arguement was that romeo and juliet laws (where you don't have to register/it's not statutory rape if you are a 19 year old dating a 17 year old) didn't apply to gays because they would be charged with sodomy laws instead which aren't covered by romeo and juliet exclusions. That's why there is a section stating that whether the perpetrator knew the victim beforehand would factor into whether they would still be required to register. Problem with this "fix" is it has a buffer of 10 years, while romeo and juliet laws usually only cover age differences of 2-3 years. It's supposed to be for if you have a high school sweetheart in a different grade, not a college boyfriend who drives you to school until you get your license.
This is from back when they were trying to excuse all the gay sex offenders as just helping young gays discover themselves, because a 22 year old having sex with a 15 year old is somehow just fine when they are both gay. It's been a problem in the gay community forever but they refuse to acknowledge it as such.
Isn't he basically the antithesis of their worldview? He was against secession and only sided with the Confederacy because his home state of Virginia ended up seceding and he refused to fight against his own local community. They absolutely prefer people to readily abandon anything and anyone if it goes against the "correct choices".
The only people who defend gypsies are the ones who have never interacted with them. At least not real ones.
So, according to this, can you have someone assigned male at birth, have a gender identity of male but gender expression of female, while being physically attracted to woman but emotionally attracted to men?
Letting the idea that sex and gender are separate become commonplace was a mistake (or was it?).
I still can't get over how this is essentially a career making story, especially with how the media is portraying it as some terrible attack. You could write books about being a reporter in the middle of this thing and people would shill it just to keep the narrative going. But they're just such pussies that they can't do a basic part of their job and just run away when there is even a whiff of perceived danger around.
Anti-whiteness, now that I actually think about it critically and objectively, was absolutely the norm throughout my entire grade school experience. The only difference now is how explicit they are about it.
Seems like most people's idea of the history of slavery is maybe a vague understanding that it happened historically through the Greeks and Romans, sorta stopped for a while a little later after that, and then started again when Europeans discovered black people.
Probably can't even name other countries' celebration days, even with Canada day happening earlier the same week. "All countries matter, which is why I only care to talk about it on this specific country's celebration day!"
Such a joke.
So how soon until there's some scandal because someone or some company didn't include the "traditional place name" when mailing something? Something new to attack Amazon over at least, I doubt they would add an additional address line just for Australian customers.
That was the cover reason pushed by the media, that the Ancient One was based on racist stereotypes so it was the correct choice to change him.
For me it's YA literature. There used to be a lot of teen drama and angst focused books to be sure, but there were still fun adventure stories to be found with only a little bit of looking. But flipping through any new book and now its all about diversity and progressive topics, even already established series are inserting stuff like non binary or trans characters. You'll have some exciting magical or sci-fi stuff, and then a page explaining why a character felt like wearing a dress that day but you should still use he/him pronouns to refer to that character. It's weird when it comes to villains, because you'll either get an evil person respecting an adversary's pronouns for some reason, or them not respecting pronouns is treated as some horrible awful thing, even if they're already a mass murderer or something.
They of course accept that there is a circled finger gesture used by white supremacists, just not this specific one. So close yet so far.
Also annoyed by the dumb dumbs in the comments acting offended by the "powder buff" game description. Obvious play on "powder puff" football games, as if their high school had a boys volleyball team. Or hey, a boys softball team or field hockey team.
Sad thing is, even the doctors and watch groups don't know how much malpractice there really is, because the amount of people being autopsied after death has dropped significantly. And an autopsy is the best way to find out exactly how someone died, and whether it could have been prevented or was somehow missed.
“The Government has failed to meet its burden by coming forward with evidence rebutting the presumption that such underrepresentation was the result of purposeful discrimination,” she wrote Monday.
Pretty disturbing how often people automatically assume white people act with racist reasons (almost like they're projecting). Also disturbing (but unfortunately not surprising) to see a sitting judge support the ideas that white people are unable to be non racist enough to be trusted with judging the guilt of a nonwhite person. I guarantee this judge would have no problem with a white person being sentenced by a majority non white jury. Literally, "I don't have to prove my presumption, you have to prove it's wrong". So fucked. Only consolation is the criminal hasn't been released and is getting tried by another, hopefully less racist, judge.
did not make her presence known to me. However, she confided in her mother. My wife told me our daughter saw us and now thinks I am having an affair. I asked my wife if she set the record straight about our open relationship, and the fact that she was actually with her lover at the same time I was with mine. She said that she doesn’t feel comfortable with our children knowing we have an open marriage.
Ha, I figured this is what happened. One party was caught, the other party told, but too embarrassed to correct the assumption. And of course she doesn't want your children knowing, they'll think she's a slut and the two of you don't love each other anymore (you don't and she is).
They have a 15, 17, and 19 year old. Surprisingly, the advice columnist agrees that they should come clean, even if the wife doesn't want to, but pretty much completely excuses the wife setting her husband up to look like a cheater just to protect her reputation.
And I think that’s probably the best way to consider this question, and to frame the conversation with your wife: not focusing on the goal of damage control, or trying to control how your children see either of you, but recognizing that it is obviously better for your 19-year-old to know the facts than to hold a mistaken impression that is undoubtedly causing her pain.
Kind of makes a big assumption that both her parents being essentially cheaters will make her feel better than just one parent, though.
I was going to mention Young Justice, I own the bluray for season 3 but I havent even watched it yet because of all the politics. Still bothered by aqualad being bi, the main part of his primary arcs in the previous two seasons revolved around his love for aqualass. Hell, he loved her so much, her death was a strong enough reason for basically everybody, even his best friends and teammates, to believe he would turn on the Justice League and join up with his villain father.
But hey, if you make him bi you can ignore that and just pretend it was always a part of his character, it just never came up before now. Also having a time jump between every season is annoying. It's just a lazy way to skip having to build up your new characters and storylines.
At least with Capaldi they could say "ok, the writing sucks, but he's doing a great job with what he's given!". Can't say that about Jodie Whittaker.
Hilariously, the post of this at r/publicfreakout is "just" locked, they haven't mass deleted anything yet.
Queer coding - a bunch of wierdos reading way more into something, very often using stereotypes and beliefs that they would find offensive in almost any other context.
Joking aside I feel pretty comfortable believing 3/4 of claimed "queer coding" is just projection or misunderstanding.
Not when we have a new series with him as the protagonist, and as a non white they have difficulty writing him as fully a bad guy. There needs to be some softening lest they reveal themselves as a racist vilifying non whites.
Rey was a slave in all but name, she was straight up sold to Unkar Plutt. (I'm pretty sure her being sold is still true, even though her parents did it to try to protect her, I havent actually watched TLJ or TRoS).
Finn could very easily be argued as a slave.
The slave children they leave on the casino planet.
Lots of slavery in these stories.
It's both at the same time!
The Georgia law requires absentee voters to request ballots by providing their driver’s license number, the last four digits of their Social Security number or a copy of some other accepted form of identification. They also have to provide this information when they mail in their ballots. Before the law, voters would sign an absentee-ballot application and sign the ballot when they mailed it in.
"If I have to prove my identity, my vote is being suppressed!"
The law also placed new limits on how parties and voting groups mail out absentee-ballot request forms and limits the number of ballot drop boxes to one per county except for large counties, which can set up one box for every 100,000 registered voters. Under the new law, the drop boxes must be kept in secure voting locations and emptied and processed by election officials every night.
"If I can't walk up and just drop my vote in a box on the street, and instead have to go to a specific, secure location, my vote is being suppressed!"
I was half joking when I earlier said we would see online voting in my lifetime. If the Left has it's way, that won't be a joke at all.
Lol, all that effort, just to be a journalist? Should have studied something worthwhile, or just something you can't easily learn all by yourself for free.
