Good question. There's been encroachment all the way back to the beginning in Sci-Fi. You just have to look up the history of SFWA to see that. Depending on how charitable you want to be to the X-men and early Marvel, you can see the lionization of the outsider there as proto-leftist as well.
I suppose it depends on how you want to define 'infestation.' Both institutions were colonized by identity politics long before they became so converged they no longer could serve as entertainment for their long-term (male) fans.
This video is actually the second piece of media to slap me in the face with 'words as spells' in as many days. Owen Benjamin's "How to Slay a Wizard" expands the on this idea much further than this video essay does, to much the same effect.
Once you stop listening to the magic words, and can step outside the 'box' the spell tries to trap you in, you appreciate that there is no power in the wizard at all. Project Zomboid MP held my playgroup's attention over the week leading up to new years. The current unstable build isn't worth long term attention, but I wound up farting around in solo recently as a result of getting a taste for it.
Abiotic Factor, Valheim, and Enshrouded have been MP choices lately. I've also revisited Avorion, but haven't settled on something to play seriously. It'll probably be that or Zomboid.
Still waiting on a solid MP Zomboid; Hytale is on the horizon, too.
