I know Trump says he won't have time for vengeance when he's President again. I sure hope he's being a politician and is lying about that.

Fantastic game. There's a newer version out, too, but I never followed up on it to see if it panned out. I suppose if it were better, I would've heard something.

My guess -- and I could be completely wrong -- is that Alpha Centauri was left behind because it was an even more demanding game to create and develop for than the already layered civilization games. Combined with a narrower appeal, that of SciFi versus the expanse of human history, and it just wasn't as lucrative or appealing to continue despite the celebrity it earned with its players.

I'll name 2 games, both curiously from 2001.

Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns -- This was an "Age of Empires" + "Civilization" type game with several unique twists, such as controlling companies of soldiers instead of individuals, a clever resource system, and a fantasy theme that probably helped make it forgettable to most gamers today. It and its successor were terribly addictive for me.

Throne of Darkness -- Another game with unique twists on popular games and genres of the time. Like Kohan, Throne of Darkness was a much better game than it's remembered for today (if it's remembered at all). This is a Diablo 2 style game, except you'd control several samurai in various "formations" to eventually fight your way through medieval Japan to defeat the Dark Warlord of Yamato. It was a finicky but engrossing game for anyone dedicated enough to get it all figured out.

Those Bullfrog "god games" were really neat and fun to toy around, but better in concept than they were addictive games in practice. The concept is so cool though that it would be amazing to see a visionary game creator run wild with modern tech to make something stunning today.

The Original Series and the animated series from '73 were great. TNG ranged from bad to good, but everything after started the slope down to our current oblivion, IMHO.

That's part of it, but opening up "higher" education to lower IQ demographics enriches the Student Loan industry, and everyone involved with the system. So corruption, basically.

Out of curiosity, I asked Bard to explain the comic.

The cartoon you sent me is by StoneToss, a far-right cartoonist known for his controversial and often offensive views. This particular cartoon was published in 2023, shortly after Mickey Mouse entered the public domain. The cartoon shows Mickey Mouse sitting at the wheel of a ship, with a sailor saying, "Now that we're free from corporate control, we can restore Walt Disney's original vision." The text above the image reads "USS Liberty," a reference to the 1967 Israeli attack on a U.S. Navy spy ship that killed 34 American sailors and wounded 173 others.

StoneToss is a supporter of conspiracy theories about the USS Liberty attack, and he has suggested that Israel was not to blame for the attack. The cartoon can be seen as a suggestion that Disney's original vision was anti-Semitic, and that now that Mickey Mouse is in the public domain, StoneToss and his ilk can restore that vision.

It's important to note that StoneToss's views are not widely shared. Most people believe that Disney's original vision was not anti-Semitic, and that the USS Liberty attack was a tragic mistake by the Israeli military. StoneToss's cartoon is just one example of the many ways in which far-right conspiracy theories can be used to spread hate and division.

Here are some other things to keep in mind about the cartoon:

  • The use of the USS Liberty as a symbol is likely to be offensive to many people, including survivors of the attack and their families.
  • The cartoon's suggestion that Disney's original vision was anti-Semitic is false and harmful.
  • StoneToss is a known troll who has been banned from many social media platforms for his offensive views.

If you see this cartoon or any other cartoons by StoneToss, it's important to remember that they do not represent the views of most people. StoneToss is a fringe figure who is trying to spread hate and division. The best way to counter his message is to ignore him and focus on promoting positive and inclusive messages.

I asked ChatGPT but it didn't reference StoneToss (naturally) or seem to really understand the comic well enough to assert anything tangible about it. ChatGPT concluded with:

The final panel does not answer the question posed in the second panel but instead introduces a new element that may be interpreted in various ways depending on the reader's knowledge of history or the intent of the comic's creator.

I could've sworn this was a thing a couple years ago after the whole Metaverse BS was introduced.

EDIT: Yup, there's this instance from a year ago: https://nypost.com/2022/02/01/mom-opens-up-about-being-virtually-gang-raped-in-metaverse/

Looks like Youtube-dl has been shut down by a German court? There is a source available version of ClipGrab (which uses yt-dl) here:

The Fortnite cash cow is in decline, however. Epic didn't make its model work before the balloon started to deflate, and time is running out.

It probably didn't mentally register as him tossing hand grenades. It's just so abnormal that a person's mind might not even consider it in that environment.

As always, the reason to engage these lost causes in debate is for the audience watching it, not to convert or convince the idiot of anything.

It's the same concept as "equal justice under the law," applied broadly. If a politician and a black laborer are both discovered to be thieves, both should face the same law and consequence, without favor to the former because he is a politician or to the latter because he's black.

So no, the treatment should not be tailored to the person where equality is concerned. Equal opportunity, equal treatment, with the understanding that people will always be unequal by nature and by outcome.
