As someone who casually speedruns a couple Metroidvanias, the allure is in mastery. For me at least, it's the mastery and intimate knowledge of a game I love. Imo, there's no point to speedrunning unless it's a game you love and are going to replay anyways as it requires the ability to essentially play through the game in your sleep.

After almost 2 decades, Metroid Dread was announced from out of nowhere and is releasing this year, so for me it was a success. Well, and we finally saw BotW 2, Elden Ring, SMT V, and and AW remaster. I also only passively listened to buts of the PC gaming show while doing other stuff and got the rest in end of day recaps so I guess I don't feel as cheated as someone who actually watched E3.

As much as I like Pyra/Mithra in Smash was hoping for a certain Wacky Whoohoo PIzza Man. Ah, well, there's still more slots. Lots of interesting games, even if I'm not getting any Metroid news that I want.

Best part that the reasoning was "muh riots". Fuck the Chief Coward. Roberts (and the Dem justices) are a textbook example of why making SCOTUS untouchable was a mistake.

Hate the fact that they didn't even try to separate the single player from the servers. Just another example to add to the pile of "reasons games as a service is cancer"

On top of this... Going to level with people here, GUST games... Aren't all that good, objectively speaking.

Agreed. Now, I really do enjoy Nights of Azure and Atelier. But they're definitely carried by their characters and character designs. From a gameplay perspective, they can be pretty damn clunky.

Been mostly rotating between FFXIV, Destiny 2, Hades, and Pokemon Shield. Hades is really fun and has a really good visual design on top of it. And I just like Rouge-lites in general. Pokemon Shield has been super frustrating, they found a way to make it easier than Sun/Moon and even more handholdy. Like, every other battle they throw heals at you, all the route designs are straight lines, the gym puzzles are braindead, exp gains are through the roof. It's just kinda frustrating as someone who's grown up with the brand see how much it's fallen. And the rumors of Sinnoh re-releases are worrying me, as Sinnoh's probably my favorite region and I don't want to see modern Gamefreak ruin it.

Careful with private discord. You need to vet people. There's been some right wing discord nuked already through people slipping in and mass reporting.

My greatest dissapointment is that 4 Americans were injured/killed and the feckless cowards in Congress got away scot-free and get to resume with business as usual. The media, establishment, and talking heads who think that optics matter will trample over themselves to condemn today, push more overreach, and then memory hole it in their quest to keep power.

Ours. Four hours from 10 o'clock is not 14 o'clock. So by your logic, 10 + 4 = 2 doesn't describe reality. But we use it every day without thinking the bridges are going to fall down.

"10:00 + 4 isn't 14:00"

Military time: "Allow me to introduce myself."

I never realized that Rocket Knight was Konami. I always just remembered it as a forgotten Sega gem.

Speaking of Sega gems, we've also forgotten Shinobi, Chakan, Gunstar Heroes, LandStalker, and Gauntlet too. Granted Gauntlet is Midway, but it's a damn crime that Gauntlet IV has never been released in any Genesis collection.

Konami (Castlevania, Metal Gear series, Contra, Frogger, Gradius, Silent Hill, Yu-Gi-Oh [TCG is heavily mismanaged], and through their acquisition of Hudson Soft; Bomberman, Star Soldier, Lode Runner, and Adventure Island)

You forgot Zone of the Enders. It's okay. Konami and Kojima have forgotten it too. QQ

Dammit, should've known with the changes towards flashy, reactive, actiony gameplay (and the damn clutch claw) were signs of the end rather than a generational gimmick.

Please let Rise and Stories 2 at least be a good sign off point if they're gonna drag MH through the mud.

Yeah, I wasn't initially that opposed to sunsetting, but the whole "rerelease the same guns so you have to rng for a god roll again" is pretty bullshit. The gun is either sunset or it's not. Also, sunsetting Shadowkeep stuff is dumb, they also didn't update some old activities so they're worthless.

The staggered update is also weird. I love the new stasis stuff, but they're timegating us on progression which kinda curbs my desire to really play around a lot.

Cases where an armor set in Monster Hunter World shows more skin on the female character was also seen as a bad thing.

They better not dare take away my sexy female MH armors.

Books:

Been really digging Mistborn. Tore through the first two books before I got busy again, currently working on the third. It's pulled me into the cult of Brandon Sanderson.

Games: Depends on what you're looking for.

Bands: Big into prog/power metal. Kamelot, Seventh Wonder, Nightwish, Dream Theater, Theocracy, Queensryche to name a few.

Youtubers: Depends what you're looking for, just like with games.

I've done a bit of programming but this line of questioning is a non-sequitur. The fact remains that devs aren't finishing their games and shipping out software that requires massive day one patches rather than actually just finishing the game first so that their customers can just buy the disk (or preload the game) and play it without waiting on whatever internet connection they happen to have.

Shipping out a product that is so broken that it requires fixing on the first day of release should be unacceptable.

How about they finish the software before shipping it out so it doesn't need a massive day 1 patch?

Been going through a refueling outage at the nuke plant so I haven't played much. Mostly played a little bit of Genshin. Basically roll the dice on what to play when I get home. Started the DOOM Eternal DLC, been pretty good so far. Also need to finish Digimon Cyber Sleuth when I have more than a day off.

I'd argue part of the problem is weak men. Men too weak to either not stick it in crazy or stick around when their actions create life. A lack of good, strong father figures is a huge contributor to a lot of our modern problems.

Fact. Otherwise it hurts their precious sports programs because their stars would all be suspended for bullying. "Zero tolerance" is basically code for stop fighting back and just let the bullying happen.

Yeah, it's kinda sad. Was kinda hoping that we could go at least the night without the politics. But it went south so fast.
