Capcom Ransomware Leaks, Reveals Politically Correct Business Strategies (nichegamer.com)

These leaks are the results of hackers not getting their ransom for the context of how this happened.

I'll just quote some of the more notable findings in regards to the section people here would care more about.

Sexuality, LGBTQ, and women were also discussed. One slide features The Last of Us Part II and Shadow of the Tomb Raider as being positive examples of LGBTQ characters; and that such characters should be portrayed as appealing as male characters (and promoted in the same way). Capcom do note that certain regions view LGBTQ characters negatively.

Meanwhile, Nintendo’s Princess Peach and Zelda were used as examples of negative stereotypes of women due to being damsels in distress. This is in spite of the image used for Zelda being from Breath of the Wild; where the character takes a more pro-active role.

Sex appeal, such as bikini costumes or lewd poses and costumes, should be equal between men and women, and serve a purpose in the context of the story. However, costumes cannot appeal to only one kind of user base, such as only one gender.

Capcom used their own games as examples of this. While a shirtless costume for Street Fighter‘s Ryu was fine, R. Mika’s butt-smashing super move was not. Cases where an armor set in Monster Hunter World shows more skin on the female character was also seen as a bad thing.

While disappointing, I can't say I'm that surprised to learn about it. I think anyone with a brain could see this sort of thing happening after RE 3 Remake.

The Last of Us Part II and Shadow of the Tomb Raider as being positive examples

Oh the highly controversial game that was practically dumped in to discount bins in the east and the nu-Tomb Raider that performed the WORST according to Steam charts.

Nintendo’s Princess Peach and Zelda were used as examples of negative stereotypes

Both HUGE hits and highly praised by everybody, the golden cash cows of nintendo that basically fund their consoles with only the expectation these titles will be launched on those platforms.

Please go ahead Capcom, jump off the cliff, I will clap if you do a flip.

I just don't understand. I realize how much power progressives have in small, insulated groups but at some point during these meetings, higher-ups have to be looking at sales charts. What's going on?

Sometimes the higher ups are the ideologues.

Ideologues get promotions for burning capital.

Unless those higher ups are gay, black and trans they’d be publicly canceled for pushing back on any of these issues

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Shut up.

That won't apply to shirtless Ryu I bet you.

I can't imagine any of them do, however. If straight men find it appealing, I would think lesbians do as well. Likewise, I would think that which appeals to straight women would also appeal to gay men.

So they're going to turn women into men as well, great. Wonder what they'll do when the 'sexy men' costumes just don't sell compared to the outfits for female characters.

That's why you don't see any fanservice outfits at all. Instead of spending development time and money for female outfits that sell, then being forced to make male outfits that are subsidized by the female outfits, they simply choose to not invest any time or money at all.

They better not dare take away my sexy female MH armors.

They’re literally saying that’s what they’re going to do.

You think MH could survive beyond the mainstream popularity World brought? No way.

As a fan of MH since 3, sorry. It’s over for us veterans.

Dammit, should've known with the changes towards flashy, reactive, actiony gameplay (and the damn clutch claw) were signs of the end rather than a generational gimmick.

Please let Rise and Stories 2 at least be a good sign off point if they're gonna drag MH through the mud.

Stories? Probably. It’s small enough to escape.

Rise? Probably not. Would love to be wrong though.

Not even that, what about Ocarina of Time? Have these people even played the ga... oh...

I'm sorry Capcom. It doesn't matter how much you pander to the woke crowd. They won't buy your games. They won't stop attacking you. They won't sleep with you.

Capcom claimed that they have verified 18 pieces of employee personal information was obtained, along with the potential of approximately 14,000 items of human resources information...

Congrats, Capcom. You're now potentially responsible for a whole wad of future cases of identity fraud.

Likewise, while Spider-Man Miles Morales was seen as a positive portrayal of non-white races, while Street Fighter‘s Dee Jay wearing a Rastafarian hat was not.

Right, because there isn't a single Jamaican out there that wears a Rasta hat on a regular basis. Apparently it's perfectly fine for a half-black/half-Latino superhero to walk around NYC looking clean-cut and borderline "white" in his actions, but heaven forbid that a Jamaican chatacter be shown to revel in his own culture in the clothing they depict him in. JFC, that's racist as hell.

EDIT: Fixed a typo
