For me it's:
- The Blood of Dawnwalker
- Duskfade
- Stoneshard - although it's been in early for years
Honourable mentions:
- Knight's Path - to early to tell
- Menace - depends on the Leader roaster. To many shouting women at the moment
For me it's:
Honourable mentions:
I have reached gaming zen, I am no longer hype for anything before release. No matter how much of a banger trailer it is, everything has the potential to turn out to be trash. I merely exist in the present and accept games for what they are rather than what they could have been.
^buncha tongue in cheek BS up there.
But tbh I'm not bothering too much with pre-release news because it all seems so unreliable anyway. I am moderately intrigued by Knight's Path though.
I prefer to exist in the past and enjoy all the good games of yesteryear. Dragging my feet about picking up new games means I get to filter down to just the stuff that's proven itself to be worthwhile.
You also get the chance that a based mod removing the woke is already out for the games.
Pretty much nothing. Path of Exile and Mechwarrior5 Clans/Mercenaries are the only 3 games I've played for the last 2 years.
The modding scene is creating a program that recompiles PS2 access so you can play games on your PC natively. There is one guy who is rereleasing tons of old games for modern PC with QoE changes. Much of the N64 games have been recompiled for modern PC.
Claude AI and others can now produce classic arcade games. It takes a few minutes to get stuff to work, but I've seen new SHMUPS, Sword and Jumps, and others. They can be connected to Blender and Unreal/Unity as well.
Using Gaussian Splats, one guy made a racing game of an actual city street. Then he added all the simulator tech to it. I predict that in a few months we will be able to run around actual cities GTA style.
4GPG just released and it's made by old SeGa Arcade Racing devs. In the same vein one of the original StarFox programmers is making a 3D Shooter.
and then they'll need to be fixed again presumably when the modern PC becomes old.
Well the recompile process is fairly easy, so of all it has been properly decompiled then bringing it up to date should be a lot easier.
Meh. Im still working on my backlog.
Same. Quite a few to get through before considering new releases.
TND
"Looking forward" is a stretch—the most I have is middling interest—but the three games for 2026 are Resident Evil Requiem, Romeo is a Dead Man, and Pragmata.
Really impressed with what they're doing with the VRAGE 2. Their procedural hollowed out caves is some true next-gen tech. They're one of the only few studios out there really pushing tech forward.
Ananta, if it'll even drop this year. It's somehow more nebulous than GTA6 in relation to its release date.
That's the only upcoming game I'm interested in. Looks fun and isn't made by a western studio, so very low chance of woke garbage. Other than that, I'm sticking with older games.
A potential shadow drop of a Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas remaster.
So long as it's like Oblivion and just a graphical and gameplay optimisation, that'll do me fine.
But do the remasters do anything you can't already do with mods?
To an extent, they'll probably allow for better modding when you don't need 10 mods just to have it run on modern hardware and so can focus on making a mod that lets have a deathclaw pet.
I'll name them Mcscratchykins! 🤣
Knights path and Elder Scrolls 6 (a man can dream)
Man I hope Elder Scrolls 6 is good but after Starfield my expectations are low.
Same. Starfield was such a letdown but to be fair the game I imagined in my head ever since rumors of a space game came out far exceeded what we got. Plus it was hard not to notice the current year inclusivity
None.
If I want to game, I'll just play on the WoW Progression servers, or literally re-up the EQ account. Cancelled all subscriptions and only spend time in front of the PC at the office.
I'm learning the new game of 'Go Outside' with some new expansion packs like 'backpacking', 'camping' and 'how to build a dugout to survive the societal collapse'. There's mods for hunting rifles and first aid kids. I'm thinking it will kinda be like Fallout, sans the radioactivity (yet).
Danganronpa 2x2, RogueDiceR (which is out today)... and basically nothing else. Like a lot of other people in this thread, there are enough free/released games to satisfy any gaming needs we have. I definitely need to reinstall flashpoint while I have the chance to do so.
While I could also say FE Fortune's Weave, I feel that being stuck to a console I don't know if I have realistic reasons to buy means it may be a temptation I have to put off.
I'm content with old games. I don't even recognize any of the games mentioned here.
Alabaster Dawn. I played CrossCode to death, which is rare for me with single player games (Silksong, Elden Ring notwithstanding).
If you haven't tried the Alabaster Dawn demo, I highly recommend. If you haven't played CrossCode, I also highly recommend.
Crimson Desert, Nioh 3, Bubsy 4D, Showa American Story, Slay the Spire 2, and Mewgenics. There might be some others I'm forgetting. I'm also interested in Duskbloods, but it seems like it might be primarily a multiplayer thing, so that makes me less interested.
Azaran: Isles of the Jinn. A blatant Ocarina of Time clone with a middle eastern aesthetic.
Next DeltaRune Chapter.
Sword Hero. An Elder Scrolls style RPG with a neat combat system.
Knight's Path. Colorful and loosely realistic Souls-Like.
Kook. steampunk boomer shooter
IronWing Valliant. Colorful (more)anime Armored Core.
Wild Blue Skies. Blatant Starfox 64 Clone
Delivery Must Complete. Spectacle Fighter Meets Ace Combat rougelite.
Some of this look cool. Thank youj
FF7R's 3rd part announcement. I'm willing to bet one of my nuts that it will be released in January 2027 just to commerate it's 30th anniversary.
Sir, I think you might have a gambling problem. No current year remake is worth risking a walnut over, even if you are probably right
After hearing about what they did to my boy Cid I won't touch any of those games.
Jump Space. So far the early access has been excellent. The core of the game is a fantastic mix of space combat and zero gravity FPS, with a branching mission tree ala Slay the Spire.
I'm... Uh Hmmm
But I'm sure if I go looking for certain software upgrades I'd find that the "previously made games" space has improved since I last checked, so I can look forward to doing that.
Just wanted to thank you for the nice game suggestions
More Updates for Hytale
Expansion for Monster Train 2
Maybe i'll check new Heroes of Might and Magic, but I'll wait till Slavs will play this game before buying- that's best way to tell if HoMM game is good
You mean old era?
I tried the demo and it looked like trash. From diversify the human empire to just how it looks and the animation and millennial humour, it looks more like a heroes clone designed for phones rather than an actual game.
I am pretty far behind on my backlog. Been playing a lot of octopath travelers zero, Marvel Rivals and a little bit of Smite 2. Beat Marvel Cosmic Invasion and got everything and dropped it. Games I'm looking forward to are resident evil Requiem and threads of Time. I really want mayhem brawler too to come out is I like the first one but there's been no news on it. I have this naked suspicion that developer has just given up. Friends keep telling me to get into expedition 33 but that is far down on my backlog.
I know you guys probably have a lot to say about chinkslop gachas, but I've been playing Arknights: Endfield and it's legitimately fucking fantastic. Released a week ago.
Chinkslop is typically visually appealing.
I've almost given in and downloaded one, but the gameplay usually doesn't appeal to me because it's kind of generic hack-and-slash and not focused enough on the technique.
But they have really stepped up their game, and the art is on-par -- many times -- to animated films.
If they could make something a little more focused, technical, and masculine, I might give one a try.
I am years behind with video games, so I look forward to playing a bunch of stuff that have been out for years :-)
Out of those that are still to release, that I am likely to play 2030 the earliest are the following (yes, it is still <current_year>, I will be mindful of that):
Yakuza 3 remake
REANIMAL, by the same studio that made Little Nightmares 1+2, but not the recent third entry, which looks like it sucked ass.
New Resi, sure
DYSPLACED, new game by the devs whose game, Dysmantle I have very recently played to the tune of 100+ hours. Open world survival crafting, where, depending on the tools and upgrades you have you can break apart more and more stuff, getting to the point in the end where you can raze entire buildings to the ground and pick up every last bit of material. Ton of content, and the DLCs were actually very much worth it. Though this new game looks like it is moving away from the previous one in a direction that I am not particularly thrilled about I will still give it a chance.
REPLACED, cyberpunk, mild interest as I have not seen a lot about it yet, but still.
Crimson Desert, I guess. Looks like the dev team is not really diverse, so it might actually be good. Mild interest so far.
Dysmantle and Dysplaced look nice and Replaced looks interesting if they can pull it off.
Kiwami 3 will have Virtual On. Why Sega doesn't release a compilation for the series is a mystery.
Half Life 3 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Waiting for EU5 to not suck.
I just want light no fire
Starsector update
RAMpocalypse = canceled building a PC so not looking at the upcomming releases.
Plenty of great retro and light games anyway.
Currently on Open RTC2 ( a mod for the Roller Coaster Tycoon games ).
Deep Rock Galactic has its last content update releasing January 29th ( that game just barey runs on my laptop's integrated graphics ).
I was looking forward to iiSU, the project of an emulation frontend that looks like a modern reinterpretation of the 3DS ecosystem, thinking I might get an AYN Thor dual screen handheld console.
But the guy who started the project left when the woke threw a fit about anti-tranny jokes and comments he made.
If the project is that prone to throwing its talent out for Wrongthink, it's probably going to be infested with the woke. Or just collapse because the main guy bailed / was shown the door.
Edit : There is apparently an Alpha build of iiSU. I'll check that. Ordering anything significant priced in USD with Canadian dollars would be a huge pain in the walled though ( AYN Thor handheld ).
