Politicians lied and ''conspiracy theorists'' were correct. Mainstream media's most retarded ''trick'' still works on normies.

The goal was always to have immediate ID of people tied to what they post online to go after Wrongthink.

''conspiracy theorists'' were correct

True. And normies will cope with "you may have been right this time, but you're still a conspiracy theorist."

They WILL fuck it up in such a way it gets the normies to notice because their circus is over and there ain't no fucking bread either.

I predict another humiliating U turn like the rest.

They may even defend this by saying complainants are "terminally online" and need to "touch grass"

And they may very well be permanently online considering the Internet is critical infrastructure to many businesses now, along with entertainment to placate the masses.

It's going to be a shitshow in so many different ways and it's probably none of them will even fix the supposed problems that were needing looked at in the first place.

They'll back down on the age verification for all sites and instead only implement it for "adult sites". Then they'll casually expand the restrictions and eventually every site will require verification with the docile public thinking along the lines "we already had verification for ages, what's the harm?"

nah, it will be as always. regime-conform sites like reddit or child-porn.com will be overlooked, but johns-gardening.org will be harshly prosecuted.

John shouldn't have been planting those native British plants that the government linked to White supremacy!

This is the low ball. When there's public outcry they can fall back to their original position and the sheep will feel like they won. Maybe they'll even retreat a little and only put a few impossible to defend websites on the list. What matters is that they get the legislation passed that allows them to add new sites to the list. Then they'll slowly add more and more, not just porn. They'll use the threat of adding sites to the list to get them to preemptively cave to their policies. They'll probably come up with some gay british-ism to call the undesirable sites, like they did with "video nasties".

They've always been like this. That's why we thew their tea in the harbor.

It's funny how quickly and shamelessly they moved the ball down the slippery slope. I imagine a situation where someone pointed out the shit that happened in covid times and they can just literally do it tomorrow.

Slippery Slope is only a fallacy if there isn't a million other identical slopes showcasing clear prior precedent of events or behavior. Then, it is simply a trend line in very solid data, albeit a steep line.

The concept of Gravity is the best example of this: "Oh, just because you're moving downwards at 9.81 m/s now, you think you'll be at nearly 30m/s in just over three seconds? 9.81m/s^2 acceleration you say? Slippery slope! Slippery slope! You'll only fall at exactly 9.81m/s, no matter how long you fall! You can't assume things will always accelerate!"

Proper scrutiny is always good though.

After 12 seconds the human body hits terminal velocity and so a constant 90 m/s is maintained until it isn't.

Slippery slope is so pre-2020, we're in terminal velocity now :)

It's never about safety, freedom, or the children.

It's always about control.

Yep.. use one retarded western country and try to push it to rest of world. Slippery slope is websites not wanting to have a uk and everyone else version and just make 1 version that requires id verification.

Its how they get around laws or freedoms of your country. And i bet theyll require biometrics too..

just make 1 version that requires id verification.

If users of that site don't force them to walk it back by immediately boycotting it, then they apparently aren't bothered by it and would deserve it.
