The problem is that in 2024 anyone that looks like this guy in a newsroom is a dead giveaway for being an outsider. To work in a modern newsroom Clark needs a man bun and a this is what a male feminist looks like t-shirt and only write things like: “10 reasons why real men pee sitting down” -Clark Kent (they/them) #endthepatriarchy
The entire newsroom would be AWFULs and a lot of color-coded diversity hires sprinkled on top to mask the overbearing presence of the holier-than-though and I-know-more-than-you AWFULs.

If the joke is supposed to be that his disguise is laughably bad and yet people fall for it completely, well that's pretty standard Superman fare. Its almost in character for him to be trying so hard to hide it that he gets the "meme Zoomer haircut" and it still works somehow.
But that's way too charitable a read for modern media. Its almost certainly something more malicious and hateful on him.
The hair is because Gunn thinks it looks funny probably. Which is childish.
I wonder how they'll handle the "mystery baby" aspect of Superman's arrival and adoption; back in the Depression/Dust Bowl days, someone leaving a baby on a farmer's doorstep was about as unremarkable as people dropping cats on them. The authorities wouldn't have asked too many questions if the couple was willing to adopt the kid anyway; it's not like some midnight mystery hobess would be easy to find.
Now there'd be snoopy-doos sniffing around everywhere, and the Kents had better make sure to hide all trace of any extraterrestrial stuff real good, or destroy it ...
I really don't like how... documented everything is nowadays. It doesn't seem to do anything to stop actual crime, but it certainly does punish otherwise law abiding citizens who try to do anything off the books.
You know I've never really thought about that aspect. You are absolutely correct. They should say they found him in a dumpster near a prom venue, that's a more modern solution.

I want this to do well since Superman is my favorite comic book character (along with Spidey) but it’s current year. I really wish Cavill could’ve done an uplifting and positive Superman.
I'm sure he wanted to. Remember, it's become clear that Snyder is a hack. Henry did have moments where he could be the positive ray of sunshine, but the atmosphere of the rest of the damn movies basically destroyed what image he was able to present.

Kal El's disguise to fit among human men in 2020s America: Looks stupid, mini-afro to showcase his black heritage (totally not culture appropriation), probably thanks Lois Lane for letting him watch her get railed, has a black guy for a boss who is conically white, doesn't have a credible job, reads his own articles, co-workers are so stupid glasses function as a disguise.
And the secret truth he is faster, stronger, & smarter than everyone he interacts with. Raised in a red state, believes in a higher power and the American way. His hobby is saving the innocent & incompetent. And he struggles to make journalism honest work without slapping the shit out of government censors.
