Incredible fresco of Helen of Troy is uncovered at Pompeii
Archeologists uncovered the remarkably preserved 'fresco' painting on a wall at a former private residence along Via di Nola, one of Pompeii's longest streets.

Was that in doubt? I know you have the morons that will claim everyone was black but did any serious researcher say she wasn’t white? Granted even the “serious researchers” are crazy now

Not quite what you're talking but still in the neighborhood of Greco-Roman history is the whole Septimius Severus thing and and the black Romans stuff the BBC was pushing a few years ago

So I guess in other words just give it time and we'll see an argument for Helen being black or brown or whatever

According to black anthropology, everybody was black until like 500 years ago when white people magically popped out of the ground and started oppressing everybody

But I thought Yakub created whitey a long time ago as a prank.

This black history is so confusing.

It's obviously confusing because Yakub's grand invention was, and is, the ultimate master of Deceptology. So if anything seems confusing, that's just proof that it's even more real.

Italians Spaniards and Greeks spent a good chunk of antiquity fighting and being conquered by North African Muslims. So there’s two different lines, the reality that they modern Greeks don’t have much genetically in common with ancient Greeks, and the lie that Greeks were always Arab mixed. The latter lie is what allows the “we wuz Greeks/italians/spainards” because we can’t possibly admit Arabic muslims were massive sex slavers and attempted to genocide entire peoples since their inception.

Muslims didn't exist in antiquity, fren. Their false prophet Muhammad wasn't born until 570AD and Arabs didn't leave the Arabian peninsula en masse until after he died. The folk the Romans were fighting in North Africa were mostly Phoenicians and Goths.

Crap I meant immediately post antiquity/ early Middle Ages. Moors/spain were 700s, Egypt and Greece were 600. The genetic shift is still the same. Redheads are common in Greek mythology, same as blue eyes.

the reality that they modern Greeks don’t have much genetically in common with ancient Greeks

That's not quite right. Modern Greeks have strong genetic continuity from their ancient ancestors going all the way back to the Mycenaean period, but they do have some foreign admixture from MENA peoples

Meh the first study admits it’s only a 62-80% adherence and “ This is due to the fact that Neolithic farmers share fewer alleles with Modern Greeks than with Mycenaeans” the graph shows Crete is more genetically related to ancient greeks, nor does it account for the post Bronze Age invasion.

Meh

Hardly " meh" when you made this argument that, and I quote

modern Greeks don’t have much genetically in common with ancient Greeks

when we can demonstrate that in fact modern Greeks do have quite a bit with in common with ancient Greeks. Not my fault you made too strong of a statement and are being corrected on it.

nor does it account for the post Bronze Age invasion

I'm not sure what your argument is here. The Greek civilization that succeeded the Mycenaeans are largely their genetic descendants. What post Bronze Age invasion are you referring to?

The Sea Peoples.

Re-posting part of reply to address this

just because a certain people invade another doesn't mean they wipe out the native population or even change it much (although sometime they do). Rome for example left almost no genetic legacy in Britain despite ruling it for centuries

Also at least some of the Sea Peoples like the Achaeans/Ekwesh were themselves a Greek people

The Islamic incursion on Greece lol

First of all, Islam doesn't arrive anywhere in Greece until nearly two thousand years after the Bronze Age ends, so you might as well describe that as a "post Cambrian Period invasion" if you're going to be that off in time.

And the MENA admixture was already addressed. That's why on the PCA chart I linked to Greeks are slightly closer in genetic distance to modern MENA populations now compared to other European peoples.

On that note, just because a certain people invade another doesn't mean they wipe out the native population or even change it much (although sometime they do). Rome for example left almost no genetic legacy in Britain despite ruling it for centuries.

Again, modern Greeks are indeed significantly like their ancient ancestors.

First of all, take at look at figure 1 in your study genius, it doesn’t say what you think it does. Secondly, you brought up the Bronze Age, what’s funny is the average modern Greek is only 31% mycenaean genetically. Is that your standard of “significantly like their ancestors”?

And the MENA admixture was already addressed. That's why on the PCA chart I linked to Greeks are slightly closer in genetic distance to modern MENA populations now compared to other European peoples.

Greeks have always had higher admixture with Anatolians and other Arabic peoples. Like this pca shows. https://thuletide.files.wordpress.com/2023/07/pca-west-eurasia.jpg?w=953

What’s funny is you came barging in, proved yourself wrong, and did so spectacularly!

If blacks was everywhere in europe.. even some were queens and kings.. doesnt that mean blacks are responsible for all the mean stuff europe did??, lol. Games and shows certainly implies blacks were front and center and were historical figures of great importance throughout the history of europe.
