The faggot who wrote the notorious lonely men article last summer is once again pushing therapy as the solution to men's dating problems (archive.ph)

Nothing angers me more than modern therapy targeted at men. It is 100% evil gaslighting that has 0 regard for the man's true mental health. It is a weapon against men.

No, it certainly has regard for a man's mental health. Just in the wrong direction.

Going to therapy and talking about it are still countercultural acts, particularly for men.

No they're fucking not. The cultural zeitgeist pushes men to do this, and it pushes hard.

An increasing number of men are focused on being more emotionally expressive and challenging stereotypes.

Men aren't doing this, simps are. Real men know that "emotional availability" makes women drier than the Sahara.

In a relationship landscape where competition is fierce for single men, should going to and talking about therapy be a new standard of valuing personal growth?

Only if they're playing in the beta league, which they shouldn't be because it's a retard move.

Therapy is utterly fake and gay and at this point I'm skeptical about the concept of "mental health" entirely. After all your brain is a physical organ and if that isn't working right that is a "health" problem, no need to pretend the mind is a separate entity from the body.

Men need the gym, the woods, the mats, the shop, the church - but mostly to get the hell away from women.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy has statistically-significant results.

Exposure therapy cures phobias.

Not all of the discipline is qwack, but ''let's lay down and talk about our fee-feels'' feminine ''therapy'', that's a scam.

Almost like therapy is a thing you need to be an active participant in and work on, instead of an hour long "sit down and vent" session.

But therein lies the problem. The first one is hard and most people won't want to do it (and most therapists doing it filter people out to avoid wasting their time), while the second is literally a money printer with an infinite clientele.

Shit Better Help proved that you can be outed as an outright scam and people still line up to throw money at you so they can say "I do therapy, so I'm better than you!"

100% agree with the exposure therapy, has helped me get my arachnophobia in check except I did that to myself without a therapist. If you're so inclined you can help yourself in a lot of ways, the biggest hurdle is always gonna be you first.

None of these therapies are capable of validation by double-blind placebo-controlled trials.

Not from a technical perspective. All the issues I can think of arise out of ethics boards and the inherent flaw of having humans administrate the study/tests.

There what helps imho: fake it. I am super outgoing when having to talk to people, no one would expect me to be introverted. This is probably what behavioral therapy could do to you. I also think you can work on this yourself but as usual the biggest obsticle in this all is you yourself first.

Therapy has not really helped me, just felt like talking to someone and that's it. Most of my issues I have gotten rid of myself by going out, facing my fears and doing a tiny bit more every day. As you said, gym won't help you in this, doesn't work for everyone at least. It does give you a boost in confidence which is tremendously useful if you wanna get more outgoing. You'll never not be introverted though, contact with too many people still drains me and I need my alone time occasionally. I am no recluse though like I used to be.

In front of friends obviously don't lie. But say customers, random acquaintances you are not friends with. I know no introvert that doesn't feel comfortable with close friends personally, be you around them, be someone else around others.

I don't think being introverted is something you need to 'cure', as long as it is not detrimentally impacting your life. I only really have one friend my own age IRL, and we don't do an awful lot together, but I get enough socialisation through work and church to where I don't feel like I'm being devoured by my own thoughts every day (like I used to). I feel like I have enough of a connection with the world.

You find a level of social interaction that suits you, and as long as you can still hold a decent conversation and interact with society in a sensible manner, I don't think you need to push yourself to be a people person. Heck, that might even do more damage than good.

Social interaction can be learned like any other skill.

The hard part is finding situations to dip your toe in because jumping all the way is too scary at first.

My recommendation is talking with old people. They are happy anyone pays attention to them and are patient about waiting for you to organize your thoughts before responding.

Therapy and the fields that teach it have been heavily corrupted by feminism and leftism in general. I took an intro to sociology class and, once you get past the interesting intro chapters on the field, it was basically just leftist talking points. America bad. White bad. Man bad. We need "equality" so let's pay housewives 150k/year to clean their own toilet. You name it, it was discussed in the class.

"Soft" sciences were easy targets for marxist infiltration since you can bullshit your way through everything as long as the person reviewing/grading your work is a political ally.

In a new survey, a majority of daters want someone open about their therapy experiences.

HAHAHA, now THAT is laughable. More likely the survey responses were about whether or not they'd want to know upfront of a man was seeing a therapist so they could avoid dating them altogether.

No, women want men to see therapists because the man has basically shown he's easy to manipulate. Women have two dating strategies. There's Alpha Fucks who they want to have sex with and there's Beta Bucks who they want to extract as many resources from while providing him with as little sex as possible. Often, women "date" the Beta Bucks. Men who go to therapy signal they would probably make good Beta Bucks. The problem for men is all men wanted to be treated like the Alpha Fucks not the Beta Bucks so therapy does nothing to help men actually get what men want.

It's something women believe they want, but don't actually want.

Women want a man who is emotionally open, then drops him when his tears make her pussy dry up. Women want a man who texts her 10 times a day, then gets the ick when he actually does it. Women want a man who will always be faithful, then only goes after or responds to men who can get tons of hoes and easily cheat on her.

Stated preferences vs revealed preferences.

true. women also do not realize they are children. women actually believe they are capable of leading a nation, of leading men. women believe they should raise 'good boys', and then are disgusted and resentful of the loser betas they raise.

women believe all kinds of childish, retarded shit.

women are children.

In depth therapy, not just sit on the couch venting therapy, can be incredibly helpful if you've got an actual problem that needs solving, like a serious trauma knot you can't get by or a maladaptive issue causing consistent issues.

Problem being, 85% of therapists are either activists (and thereby untrustable) or actual retards who just learned to smile and nod into a career. None of them help anyone, but they are great for parting women from their money and then sending them to a Psychiatrist to get them hooked on pills that'll keep them broken for life. If you can't find someone who is both male and isn't already broken down by years of Upper Class White Girl Whining, you are pretty SOL on getting actual benefit other than maybe realizing "oh that's what's bothering me."

Pro tip though. The human brain gives you about the same dopamine hit by telling someone your plans as it does actually seeing them through. That's why people always say not to announce your diets or New Years or any other major things. Because by simply saying you are "working on it" you've already assured you won't go anywhere.

This is important, because even if we assume these women even cared about men getting better (huge if), they are actively sabotaging them by demanding they talk about going through it. Its one reason why even acknowledging you know a client in public can get your license revoked. Its to keep that shit between you and your therapist, and no one else is ever even made aware you are going to begin with.

So not only are they lying to your face about what they want and propping up a compromised industry that fails at its only real task 95/100 times, but even if that wasn't the case they are actively trying to make you fail.

Do you think troons could be helped if they could find someone who doesn't just enable their delusions?

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 3 ▼
– Adamrises 3 points 2 years ago +3 / -0

No, because involuntary therapy and psyche holds are nearly impossible to get on anyone. So the moment you push back against their delusion they will just leave.

If you don't want it yourself, you'll never get anything out of it. And troons wouldn't be troons if they actually wanted to be better.

When the entire world is encouraging them? No. It's like an alcoholic going to a AA meeting (AA sucks, but that isn't the point) only to come home and his entirely family & all his friends invite him to drink some beers.

In another world though I do think they could receive help. There's even some success with DBT/schema therapy in borderline patients - basically the most insane there is. But it requires the patient to really want to change and work on the learned skills & techniques between sessions. Therapy is not the 1 hour you see your therapist every week. That is only there to discuss your progress & issues you are having, think of it like a personal coach that reviews and adjusts your meal & exercise plans. The real work is done in the gym / in the kitchen. Therapy works the same - the real work is between sessions, when you do get intrusive thoughts you try apply your shit to them.

The things recommended by the “manosphere” will help you maximize your potential. That potential is obviously bound by your genetics, but this doesn’t change the fact that you want to do as well for yourself as possible.

I’m not exactly sure what you expect here. There’s nothing to be gained from giving up on yourself because your genes suck. Will the gym fix your height? Of course not. Are you way better off as a fit manlet rather than a bowling ball? Also yes.

More men would be helped if they can join a sports club regardless of what level they can play at than any 'modern therapy' that dissolves into hours of explaining why it's men's fault. Unless you get the few good ones that explain 'yeah world's shit, let me help you find a coping mechanism at least'

Aha... must be the new Michael Kimmel -- it seems there always must be one cuck male academic out there pushing poison onto men.

I do think, fwiw, that therapy can help men, but not the typical therapy that most people think of -- going in and dumping your feelings to feel better.

Humanistic ("person-centered") therapy could help men who come from failed families and broken homes to repair some of the damage done by making them aware of the issue and empowering men to fix their own lives. Jordan Peterson's 12 Rules is a perfect example of this kind of message.

But it sure as hell doesn't require you to go sit in a room and talk to someone about your feelings. It's opening yourself up to lessons and new perspectives to break the conditioning you've gotten for decades in this hellhole society/culture.
