Elder Scrolls 6 still FIVE+ years away!

This is fucking ridiculous. From 2002 to 2011, a span of less than a decade, Bethesda released three mainline Elder Scrolls titles (Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim), and at least two meaty expansion packs for each of them. It's been 12 years since Skyrim, and with this news, it'll be nearly 20 years since a mainline TES game was released! Think about that; a child born when Skyrim was released could reach adulthood or come very close to it in the span of time between Elder Scrolls games. Honestly, I'm not so sure there's going to be much of an audience for it at that point.
This is what I warned every dipshit who kept on begging for an Elder Scrolls MMORPG. That genre is a fucking black hole. Once a series dips its toe into it, it seldom ever comes out. They got their online TES game; now they can say goodbye to TES singleplayer
They killed Fallout with that online mess too. There was never anything wrong with either series being single player.
As I said earlier they should’ve started on ES6 instead of the dumb online game. I tried it but went back to playing Skyrim
A sign that a company is too big, too profitable. Back in the day even studios that put out popular titles were always one step away from death or getting bought out. I'm not saying they should be starving artists but at this level there's no market pressure to put out new products or innovate. Another example being Valve with HL3.
Ditch it. Games (thankfully) don't have a massive barrier to entry that other industries do. Best to just toss the whole thing and walk away.
MMORPGS are what killed Blizzard, too. Once they got that sweet sweet subscription cash for "games as a service" to people who wanted their games to be Zoom-meeting job simulators they had to bring in thousands of different workers, top to bottom, and the company transformed into the bullshit we see today. They used to be in the business of creating art and pushing the imaginative and narrative boundaries of the medium (see Starcraft and Diablo 1/2 and to some extent Warcraft II and III), now they make tripe for 12 year olds or Millenial Norms without a scintilla of taste.
Yep. Warcraft 4 is never going to be made. The continuation of the story can now only ever be done through the insurmountable mess that is WoW, that no sane person can play the entirety of (and what's there is honestly just a mess anyway). Same thing will happen with TES online.
Plus another three years after that for it to actually be playable.
I just saw this. The one game I’m most looking forward to. Makes no sense that they didn’t start working on this a long time ago and then they did that idiotic tease back in 2018. I guess Winds of Winter may actually come out before then.
I know they said he won’t allow it to be finished but I don’t believe it. Like you said I can see them taking everything he had written and giving it to someone else. Highly annoying he keeps working on other projects
I’ve said before that I could respect him if he had just said a few years back he doesn’t want to finish. Or the least he could do is to find a writer and give him or her his notes and outlines. His treatment of book fans is why I refuse to watch House of the Dragon or the Dunk and Egg show
When you consider that it will be released with all the bugs that have to be fixed by the mod community - how many employees are actually working on it?
One guy?
That will probably be the last new elder scrolls I will play in my lifetime
I was spoiled by playing the original Gothic, so I now see every Bethesda title for the dumbed down Gothic clone it is.
Gothic? Is that a PC game? I’ll look it up
The gothic games are comically terrible. I have no idea why they are so revered in certain circles.
Oh. Ok, thanks for the heads up.
Watch one of these if you want a real review.

Upvoted because tastes are subjective. I think PB games are borderline unplayable if you’re coming from Oblivion/Skyrim.
That's because you have the intelligence of a turnip, and Bethesda games are made for people like you.

Actually, this is pretty fucking weird that you first called him out, then looked for him in the comment chain. What's you're problem here, man?
Thanks. I guess it’s only fair to check it out for myself
A more important heads up is that u/current_horror is a retard.

I don't really like it, but if u/Current_Horror wants to mention it to me, then he can.
It was, it went to shit after the third in the trilogy. Technically, even the third was a buggy mess but it was fixed up by a community patch.
Rip... ill probably be banned from youtube before making it to tes6 to make sexy mod videos.
Elder Scrolls is a dead franchise.
Sure, I'm declaring it early, but the patient has a sucking chest wound and keeps stabbing himself.
I'm just gonna save myself the time.
No doubt the push for an always online model of a game doesn't translate well from a single player focused game. The two attempts by Bethesda is probably why it's taking so long for a sequel.
Which is funny because two of my favourite multiplayers of all time were additions to single player games: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and ME3. Interesting too they seem to backing off making it Xbox exclusive, seems the marketing see's the backlash that might cause and decided they'll make more money long term making it for all platforms.
Six years, what is that in Skyrim releases? Around two more?
If they wanted a multiplayer fallout game, they could have made a fallout 4 mod that was full price. But no, they wanted to control the game like they do with Elder Scrolls Online. Which means an in game shop, and connecting to a server, and a bunch of other online only relics and tacking them on to a single player game frankensteined to work as a multiplayer game.
While I'm on a tangent, I'm still pissed that the Skyrim Together mod team approached Bethesda and Valve, asking if they could put their mod up and use Valve as a backend. Valve said okay, but Bethesda allegedly said no, because they didn't want people confusing it with their own game. Which is a lie, because of what I mentioned in the first paragraph, the monetization and control, and because they let Enderal: Forgotten Stories exist on Steam. Which is a full conversion DLC mod for Skyrim.
Half Life 3 confirmed
Who gives a shit!
That's pathetic.
Just enough time to buy Skyrim again. No I am not asking. Buy Skyrim again! - signed Todd Howard
... yeah at this rate i think we would be better off asking the modding community that bugfixes and enhances the elderscrolls games to make their own, actually i think further on that it could be a brillent idea could you imagine an open source open world by those people if you could stop them from bickering though,,,
