I read this leak/speculation on Bounding into Comics but considering it is Disney Star Wars I can totally see this happening. The working title is also New Jedi Order which leads me to believe it will be giving Rey what Luke's story was in the EU. I love how they didn't want to use it but feel the need to bastardize it. Like that Ahsoka series looks like an Heir to the Empire bastardization.
What would really crack me up would be to see Rey being a grumpy hermit on an island who has given up, and then wait for the critics to call it brilliant and subversive.
My interest in this film is subterranean, I care more about my shit in the morning that watching this film.
Same. I hope it fails and Disney sells Star Wars. I’m currently reading the last book of the New Jedi Order series. What is crazy is that they could’ve had their own canon while doing some Disney plus only animated adaptations of EU content like how DC made animated movies. I guess the one problem that may arise is that those stories would be enjoyed more than the movies.
I'm honestly so glad that early shitballs like Cpt Marvel and TLJ showed me just how much effort was put into making good movies vs defending dumb choices. Saved me going on a decade of movie tickets and online forum debates, more fun just talking to regular people without the lens of mass media goyslop.
If anyone watched anything Disney star-wars related after TLJ they are fucking numb in the head. And yes, that includes the soy-boy-lorian
Yeah it was weird as there was a slight glimmer with Rogue one (especially with the final battle and Vader appearance) but they blew it all with that film onwards.
Oh yeah it's REALLY easy to make a good sci fi, the 'fantasy tech' is no longer an issue to come up with do to it being explored enough, what you need the focus to be on story and character development.
There's a reason Star Wars, Star Trek are falling down the tubes yet Gundam is so strong because they have a sci fi setting but focus on character development and political intrigue.
Ah on that front too, I mean I sometimes get once in a few months a video from Kane Pixels and he just humiliates Hollywood in comparison and he's just a teenager.
So where's our money? Black apprentice? transgender apprentice? Black transgender apprentice?
She's supposedly going to have 2 apprentices a boy and a girl. The girl turns out to have amazing ability. So you are prob right, it'll be a black girl who will be lesbian coded, but not overt for that China money, and of course the white kid will be useless and feeble, possibly even a jealous lil bitch who becomes/instigates the conflict.
Sounds pretty accurate for Disney writers and the lady doing the movie is a massive activist
You could make a lot of money doing this professionally.
The white male apprentice will turn to the dark side and be the evil villain. He will find a new master, also male and white, and Mary Sue, I mean Rey and her apprentice will have to take them down.
I’m betting on nonbinary. These movies have always emphasized a duology to the force (Jedi/Sith) so the only “logical” choice to avoiding such conflicts is to teach the ways of the force to a hermaphrodite. For extra points in missing the point, they’ll make it an alien, where human genders wouldn’t even have to apply anyway.
Wasn’t there a gay rock in Disney’s EU?
Maybe they take the duology away from the force. Was Anakin a transforcer when he turned to Darth Vader? In order to detransition he had to die?
Since you mention alien I'm thinking we get a Jedi Hutt. Perhaps a humanoid one. They would love to cast a land whale.
Lizzo wasn’t enough?
I'm thinking the dude from Linus Tech Tips looks pretty close to a Hutt. He can cut down the Sith for doing unspeakable things like using air cooling on their CPU.
The first Hutt/Human hybrid! cut to Lizzo in spandex while a slowed down Duel of the Fates plays
Considering it’s KK a brunette apprentice with British accent. But Rey showed us you don’t need training.
The only "weakness" any female character is allowed to have is lack of validation. They can do anything they want as long as no one criticizes them, ever.
Gonna buck the trend and go with pajeet, but with a horrendous accent.
Yep. I hope there is a business class one day that teaches that if you have a male fan base don’t try to change it
-Rey trains red-haired black-ish looking mulatto girl (Zendaya)
-Rey uses hard work and strict drilling, ZenJedi fails repeatedly
-ZenJedi rebels and goes to fight bad guys who are white men
-She tries to use Rey's training and loses
-Rey appears and apologizes for training her, realizes she just needs validation
-ZenJedi beats all the white men, everybody claps.
-Every girl in the galaxy gets validated, becomes super-double-plus-Jedi, all worlds are saved forever.
Saved you a hate watch.
diversity hires produce trash that nobody can criticize or else its lawsuit time
the quality of everything is going down, it is just most obvious in movies where a lot of the quality is determined purely by the visuals
Oh boy, here comes bald black non-binary asexual female apprentice!
I don't care about disney fan fic
I had a Disney shill tell me that the EU was fan fiction and I’m like what’s Disney
Me neither and I shouldn’t let it annoy me how much they butcher Star Wars. A fews years back I decided to just read the EU and watch the pre-Disney stuff.
At least fanfiction is written by fans...
Training? Who needs that? And in this age, what interest is there in going through a learning process, let alone watching it?
Personally, I doubt the movie will even be a thing. What's the ratio of announced to cancelled star wars projects again? This reeks of Kenedy desperately trying to claim to have another project and have her contract extended again. If the new Indiana Jones bombs like it seems set to, I'll be shocked if she stays at Disney much longer.
I’d love for her to get fired but they don’t have the guts
didnt she just get her powers?? if thats the case, how the fuck can she train someone if she never really got any training herself?
The timeline between "Rey finds out she can use the Force" to "Rey easily defeats Darth Vader's grandson and effortlessly levitates hundreds of rocks" was like, a week tops.
You forget the “her-os” journey. Female is already great at everything and is consistently affirmed throughout.
Who learns anything these days? She can just look up all that Jedi shit online, with her brand new ForceG phone.
... of color. Probably trans. I stopped watching Star Wars after Rogue One. I'm looking forward to not watching this one as well.
But Disney really doesn't care if anyone sees it. They're laundering all that Ukraine money on this one.
Yea. No plan to watch either. Just annoys me how they have destroyed something I used to really enjoy and was willing to spend a lot of money on. Granted I still read the pre Disney books
But... How can Rey train a woman? Women are strong, they don't need no training.
Man and to think 20 years ago we thought the prequels were SO underwhelming. lol
I liked the prequels. They have their flaws for sure but now I can really appreciate the fact that they were made by someone who doesn’t hate Star Wars
This film would be a disaster for Disney if it relied solely on Theatres.
So Rey, who got absolutely no training will train someone?
Good luck.
Not watching pedomouse garble.
The difference between Rey and Ahsoka is that Ahsoka is actually a beloved character in the Star Wars universe. Years of clone wars plus Rebels endeared her to the audience.
No one likes Rey. Period.
I liked her in Clone Wars and was watching rebels before I decided I was done with Disney Star Wars. From what I hear about the upcoming show it sounds like a bastardized version of Heir to the Empire with her doing what Luke did. I like her character but I'm annoyed that they didn’t want to use the EU but they keep ripping it off.
This represents my interests. Like, Rey and Jill form a special connection over using the force. Bawm chicka wow wow.
Same. It was a layup to open the movie with Luke training Jedi or having a 5 minute reunion. Didn’t have to get rid of the EU
