Women drinking beer clothed: why are rightwingers melting down over Miller Lite? (archive.vn)

I don't know anything about this Miller ad. "Clothed women" sounds like an insidious deflection. Sounds more like there were statements demeaning the male gender (ala Gillette). But if someone can clue me in on it, it would be appreciated.

It’s feminist ranting that claims women invented beer, that beer ads with bikini clad women are sexist because men find attractive women attractive, that women drink beer too!, and that they are/ were starting a new initiative that only benefited women hop growers. It’s basically Gillette with female preaching.

They're half right anyway. Women invented American beer, kind of. Beer in the United States used to be much the same as European beer, but during the world wars the alcohol companies changed their recipes to be akin to slightly alcoholic soda to cater to women, since so much of the male consumer base was away fighting. After world war 2 it stuck.

So it would be more accurate to say that women ruined beer.

So it would be more accurate to say that women ruined beer.

Thanks to the 19th amendment and certain forces pushing feminism, women have managed to ruin a lot more than just beer.

What I figured. Honestly I’m tired of the double standard. It make’s business sense to appeal to men by having attractive women, same with something that appeals to women having attractive men. Generally speaking men drink more beer than women. Then again gaming, sci-fi, comic books, etc generally appeal to men but apparently that doesn’t matter

As you’ve probably noticed, the word “woke” has been entirely wrung of any meaning in recent years. BlackRock and Silicon Valley Bank are “woke”, according to the right. Walt Disney is woke. Pope Francis is woke. Even the US military industrial complex is woke.

Because those have absolutely nothing in common right?

What exactly is the problem with this ad? Well, it seems that people are taking extreme offense to the fact that that the ad humorously points out that there is a long history of misogyny in beer advertising, including Miller’s own legacy of using women in skimpy bikinis to sell lager. Fully-clothed women drinking beer? Woke!

No it blatantly rewrites history. There’s not a “long history of misogyny in beer advertising” it’s a product still completely dominated by male consumers. Has there been a long history of misandry in tampon advertising?

Ilana Glazer of Broad City fame stars in the commercial, which encourages people to send in sexist beer ads so Miller Lite, which is owned by Molson Coors, can turn them into fertilizer. That fertilizer is then donated to female brewers who (bear with me here) use it to grow hops for beer. The whole initiative is called the “Bad $#!T to Good $#!T” recycling campaign. To recap: what is essentially an extremely belabored poop joke has incensed conservatives who are now calling for a boycott of Miller Lite.

You mean a blatantly sexist campaign that says fuck you to any guy who wants to grow hops? Funny how women in bikinis is misogynistic but only supporting women isn’t misandrist…

If you’re getting a sense of déjà vu from all this, it’s because we have seemingly entered week 934 of rightwing outrage about beer. The Miller Lite debacle follows an extended backlash to Bud Light’s partnership with the trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney last month. When I say “partnership”, I mean that Bud Light sent a personalized beer can to an influencer with 10 million followers who then made a sponsored video and put it on her Instagram page. We’re not talking a giant campaign or a groundbreaking statement about trans rights – we’re talking a tiny nod to inclusivity and an attempt to broaden Bud Light’s reach among a different audience.

And how would the left react if bud light sent a personal styled can to jordan Peterson who is far more milquetoast than mulvaney?

Outraged conservatives found the marketing executives responsible for the campaign and hounded them online. Trolls went through social media and found embarrassing photos of Alissa Heinerscheid, who oversaw the partnership between Bud Light and Mulvaney, in college in order to try to paint her as a hypocrite for saying that Bud Light needed to update its “fratty” image. Her face was splashed all over rightwing media sites. She reportedly got death threats.

You mean she was a blatant hypocrite using her diversity training to tank a company?

A similar harassment campaign is now being waged against Sofia Colucci, the chief marketing officer for Molson Coors. Rightwing outlets are publishing hit pieces targeting the executive and Colucci has reportedly deleted multiple social media account pages because of the harassment. Thankfully Molson Coors is reacting with a little more courage than Anheuser-Busch and refusing to pander to bigots.

Righttt she deleted it because of harassment not to hide everything that could be used against her.,,

I'm not sure what their objection to "harassing" these executives is. It's a time honored tactic of the left to dox, stalk social media, harass, and try to get their targets fired.

Sounds like turnabout is fair play to me.

If men enjoy it and the woman is hired versus producing it herself. Hence why porn bad because men profit but onlyfans good because women profit. It’s blatant tribalism and thinly veiled man hating.

As much as I dislike contrived "representation" and the adjacent politics surrounding it, if you are not drinking the cheapest, bottom-the-shelf, most unreadable Polish vodka by this point I am of the earnest belief that you are not a red-blooded American. Virtually all of these companies donned the LGBTWTFBBQ flag the exact moment it became convenient - in fact, this product literally saps your testosterone and gives you tits, why is everyone in such shock?

If you're not drinking what tastes like fucking engine cleaner and saying "dzien dobry!" to that weird ubiquitous radio voice guy who is in all the stores but also dubs all of the TV shows over in Poland, you aren't ready for what happens next.

It's stupid to drink it at all, and frankly I hope they keep doing this. I hope beer and every shackle of our cultural restraints goes full globohomo. I want people to be viscerally disgusted by the things being used to poison them. Corporate thinks it conditioning and people will get used to the humiliation and accept these things as the new normal, reality says different - people are very naturally revulsed by what they're seeing. There is a fatigue that is unaccounted for.

If you must however, go for the gusto, get it over with, ditch all the carbs and punch yourself directly in the liver instead of finishing a 12 pack full of God-knows-what in additional estrogenic compounds.

If woke is overused (which I can agree to that because some on the left stop listening to your point once you say it) then certainly toxic, racist, misogyny, oppression, homophobia, transphobia, etc are vastly overused

I’ve learned that over time. Like when I tried to make a point that it makes no sense to market heavily lgbt content to the masses since most people are straight. I was called a homophobe

“Woke” isn’t overused at all. Wokeness is being injected into everything, so there is almost always cause to use the label.

When leftists say the label is overused, what they’re really saying is “we are winning”.

I only say that because I’ve been in discussions and they tune out when I say it. They try the “you don’t even know what it means” line and when I define it they still ignore my point.

Woke is not overused. "Overuse" is representative in nature. The amount of things that ARE transphobic, compared to the use of the word "transphobic", means it is vastly overused. But the amount of things that ARE "woke" in its modern definition, compared to use of the word "woke", is not overused at all.

there is a long history of misogyny in beer advertising, including Miller’s own legacy of using women in skimpy bikinis to sell lager

Misogyny definition: dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against women

How the fuck is enjoying looking at women in bikinis muh-soggy-knee?

Leftist women want us to view all women as a monolithic collective defined by leftist ideologies, and leftist ideologies assert that male heterosexual desire is metaphysically evil. So when a heterosexual man enjoys a woman’s physical appearance, all women are under attack.

which encourages people to send in sexist beer ads so Miller Lite, which is owned by Molson Coors, can turn them into fertilizer.

How on earth does that even work? Are you supposed to find old magazine ads, mail them in, and then mulch them up to get a very low-grade fertilizer out of it?

It looks like GeneralBoobs ragequit after one too many people told him his humorous titles sucked. (despite his last post being well upvoted)

Oh, uhh, here, I'll pick up the slack:

"This article was written by a woman. That is bad. And wrong. It is badwrong. Barong. And the article says boycotting is good, except when it happens to fee-male led initiatives like this one in which case its traumatic harassment. Typical fee-male self-importance. Something something matriarchy, something something extermination of men, something something baiting signoff to get Antonio in a comment war that spans three-quarters of the responses."

There we go, it's like he never was banned. Probably, I'm assuming. Again.
