They got your email from Twitter dummy. They sent a letter to the company stating their intent to sue you for defamation and Twitter would be an accomplice if they didn't comply. It's that easy.
lawyer. no. companies do not turn over info because you threaten them, & twitter is explicitly protected by section 230.
without a lawsuit, the only way to get someone's email is the same investigative shit everyone else can do.
funny how wrong opinions, confidently stated, end up 23/0.
United Kingdom law most likely.
Depends on who is asking. I have seen several instances were social media has turned over info without being subpoenaed. Although I am not sure if they still count Rowling's leftist bonafides
Ol' Null over on that Bird Forum has a long history of transparency with people trying to sue him or involve him in lawsuits. The common theme is most of these people are used to websites, small and massive, just giving them whatever they want the moment they ask.
They don't have to by any means, and simply saying "nah" is often enough to stop the entire legal proceeding on the starting line. But they do it anyway.
Your not a lawyer
Fucking with someone with FYM (fuck you money) with legal counsel eager to earn a paycheck.
That's the level of intelligence I expect from my average leftist activists..
They can go dumber
"Nobody can be this stupid!"
Social media: "Challenge fabricated!"
Calling males an "oppressor class" as she did in her interview post-Nashville shooting, is the exact rhetoric and nearly the exact terminology used in the famous Nazi propaganda film "Der Ewige Jude".
This lawsuit wouldn't get far in a real court, the poster is correct.
'The process is as much a punishment as the result'
If J K Rowling wants to bleed them with legal fees then I won't complain. If she uses her FYM to drain the cash reserves of the twitter freaks, I'll get the popcorn.
Final solution for women when?
This only matters if the person with the anime avatar lives in the UK. Since Rowling is a public figure, you can say practically anything you like in the US without fear of legal repercussion.
The "public figure" rule is fucked, because now simply being mentioned on the mainstream news is "being a public figure."
Correct, but there's plenty of layers of protection here, even if she wasn't a public figure. Suing someone for calling you 'literally Hitler' is retarded, because it's obviously not factual, or intended to be taken as such. The fact that it's done in an obviously joking manner on top of that...this isn't actionable in any way, even if she wasn't a public figure.
Some people cheered it on the first time, I never did. Rowling has to stop being a bitch and sicing lawyers on people without any legal merit.
In Sweden you cannot slander anyone, even if it is true.
Well, if it's true, it's not slander. Do you mean you can't publicly insult anyone?
Slander/libel is defined as damaging someone's reputation in the law, doesn't matter if it is true or not.
Most people don't sue for it though as proving damages is exceedingly hard, even in high profile cases damages only amount to about $5000.
It's a law that is generally ignored by everyone because of this.
Here's an article about the most recent high profile case where the party leader of the Christian Democrats had to pay about $6000 in damages.

Well, shitty that they twist the dictionary definition of slander, but good that the damages are so small that no one bothers to sue I guess.
In the US if it's factual true or a personal opinion, the speech is protected. Reputational damage only matters if it's a lie.
You have to make a statement of fact to defame someone anyways. Comparing people to Hitler is fine. This is clearly a statement of opinion. You are allowed to make fun of people, too.
Considering what Hitler did to the troons the comparison is a compliment.
Fuck everyone involved in this pic tho. Rowling for being a Karen. The twittertard for doing the "thing I don't like is literally Hitler"
Yup, my take too; everyone sucks. Rowling sucks more for going after randoms who likely can't defend themselves. Involving lawyers is a fucking low blow. But, yeah, fuck the other person too.
One wonders how quickly people would remember their manners if everyone posting "kill a white man on your way home" was actually charged with inciting violence?
The legal system exists, for better or worse. Why not make use of it?
/r/thathappened
Fake. Just Kidding Rowling wouldn't go after this as it's not actionable.
Potentially real, actually. Wasn't the other one real? Or did I get trolled twice now?
Unless I got it wrong, she's done this before; going after someone when there's absolutely no way it wouldn't be protected speech, just because she can afford lawyers.
She has gone after people who harassed her with her lawyers. She usually just twats at them with her twit account over shit like this.
I'm sure a lawyer would send a letter. I don't think they would file a defamation suit over something that's clearly not. Because that also looks bad. Basically if they can deter something that serves their client. If they have to go through with something, that makes their client look bad.
Let them fight.
Tell the legal team to suck a dick. Obvious satire.
Hurts because it's true.
Drink bleach, you male genocide advocating grifter fuck.
Cope and seethe, faggot.
Drink bleach with her, cuckold.
Watch out the tranny's on the warpath
