While the US got a basketball player that can't stop being high for too long to not risk a foriegn prison.
Apparently, the US also wanted an ex-marine but looks like he was left to rot for the virtue signal. I doubt Viktor's contacts are still active after nearly a decade but it's more showing that being loyal to Russia means they will get you back eventually is good PR for them.
Edit: Thought I'd add this on as credit to MagnumRabbits who brought up something that I overlooked. What are the two things Russia is having issues with:
Weapons supply
Sanctions and embargoes
This man, just this man if he still has his golden touch, could negate a lot of the impact for BOTH of these issues, Biden just traded Russia's Oppenheimer for a knock-off LeBron James.
Not surprised but this is ridiculous
A country that prosecutes its own citizens for having more than 10 rounds just traded the most famous weapon dealer in history, whose sold STA Missles for a pothead (which is still a class 1 drug and federally illegal).
What is the justification? Virtue signaling?
The same reason Obama pardoned “Chelsea” Bradley Manning, but not Snowden or Assange. This is entirely pandering, this “WNBA star” no one has heard of before her arrest took priority over a US marine. It’s beyond disgusting
Completely agree
The dude was the tallest WNBA player ever, this gives him a lot of adventage and he used it to a good effect. It's just that nobody cares about WNBA in general.
Bergdahl has entered the chat.
We should have gotten the marine or teacher back instead of the nigger tranny.
Looking forward to some more anti-America protests out of that junkie once they return.
*he
I see reddit say this a lot, which is why I suspect it's probably not true.
I would say 'active' in the sense using the same routes, aliases or locations. I imagine a lot did some track covering before continuing. So give it a week or two before he starts work again
I'm sure he will be able to make new contacts and get business rolling again.
I saw something brought up, there are TONS of US military gear on the black market thanks to Afghanistan and Ukraine and now you bring in one of the most notorious weapons dealers that he got a Nicholas Cage film.
Don't be surprised if the Russians turn up after winter with some blackhawks and Barratt 50 cals.
I imagine that Biden got more than a sullen pothead out of the deal. Russian arms dealer dude probably transferred a tidy sum to a trusted third party.
10% to the big guy. Trusted third party probably spent his cut on more underage dalliances and crack.
No way Griner isn't a man. No one would give a shit if it wasn't a man pretending to be a woman.
His contacts don't necessarily need to be active for him to still have an audience though. Give drug addicts enough time, and they'll eventually find what they're looking for.
While Biden announced teary eyed that Griner is coming home, Marc Fogel is still in a Russian jail serving a 14 year sentence for 17 grams of MEDICAL marijuana.
Because fuck him, no prisoner exchange or even news coverage for him.

There's also Paul Whelan, a former Marine and current glownigger. Originally the US wanted to exchange both of them, but when that proved difficult, they let the guy who faithfully served the establishment all his life rot, and exchanged the high-value prisoner for a nigger stoner who pretends to be a lesbian and openly hates the country so that a senile pedophile could do a photo op in the White House. Excellent priorities, I hope every other glownigger takes notice. This is what you can expect for your services. https://archive.ph/41jeX
Also, LMAO: https://dossier.substack.com/p/evidence-indicates-biden-admin-prioritized
I think Russia came out of this deal on top. Biden bent over, as usual.
literally bumped to the head of the line for exchange because it ticks the correct boxes. absolutely sickening.
What are the chances she gets death threats over her return because it doesn't make Russia look bad or some other blueanon nonsense
It's a little funny because him selling their weapons left and right for so long helped a bit to arrive at this current state of shortages (but not much, he was moving mostly old shit that now would be only even older and very possibly just junk because of their horrible storage habits, such as simply dumping vehicles and munitions around without even a roof above to sit there for years or decades).
What's way more funny is how he used to arm for example the Bosnians despite the Serbs being still convinced that the Russian state apparatus (now bailing him out) was having their back, thinking it's forever 1914.
He worked on this with Osama, among others. Osama was still based in Sudan. It was before they both got involved in Afghanistan.
The Obama administration sold weapons to cartels with "Fast and Furious". No surprise that his former VP turned Puppet-In-Chief is all about arming our enemies too. Biden already did it once when they deliberately abandoned all those weapons in Afghanistan.
So the US traded someone who can smuggle weapons over borders for someone who can't hide an ounce of hash oil?
From what I gathered he's ethnic Ukrainian but this was still when the USSR was a thing and they loved to move people around so they had no real community and their only connection was to the state.
Good movie, it also has a scene in it that gives every AK owner a hardon
Depends on how much mud
True but but in Ice they reign supreme
Cool, lemme know when we're taking Antarctica.
Even the opening credits scene is fantastic
He's a Russian born in Soviet Tajikistan.
The film character has even an entirely different name and never even tried to be a biopic, instead was just inspired by an archetype that Bout personified (it's not like he was the only one) and by some stories about his own exploits.
Hard to say. Complain the trade was bad - but she was clearly detained on dubious charges. From the American perspective, you get back who you can - Russia would have happily let her die in jail.
There's nothing 'dubious' about it -- Griner took a substance into a jurisdiction where it is illegal.
But the trade is for a guy who's literally called "The merchant of death"
Getting past the badass name (cause I'd LOVE that nickname), America's main tactics against Russia in this war is:
Flood Ukraine with weapons and money
Sanction and embargo Russia
This single man destroys both these options, he's extremely talented getting round embargoes to deliver weapons and he can easily set up networks to funnel some of those weapons to Russia or it's allies. This seems like the dumbest short term solution for a virtue signal, it would be surprising if in a week or two Russia suddenly starts mass drone striking Ukraine out of the blue.
The US govt's objective is not to end the war in Ukraine, but to extend it as long as possible in order to launder more money though the Ukrainian jews. This accomplishes those goals quite well.
Depends, if he mostly funnels better firearms then yeah this might prolong the war
If he funnels a lot of drones to Russia, suddenly Ukraine's scared of blue skies and their troops begin to get pinned in, perfect for a missile or artillery strike.
