Not very classic now, is it. Methinks this stuff will move people back to private servers.
If I ever decide I want to replay wow I will definitely chose a WOTLK private server. Fortunately I do not seem to have that itch anymore and I hope I'll never do.
Dalaran WoW is a good way to experience classic WotLK content without weird mods. Last I was on, it was rather sparsely populated. Could consistently get groups for leveling content and saw other players at capitols.

It was never very classic considering that people managed to kill Onyxia without armor or how Blizzard started shoving in gaudy mounts for expansion pre-orders.
I guarantee Type 2s did this.

Yeah they are the real culprits. Type 2s agreeableness encouraged it or was at least to agreeable to protest.
The agreeableness of type 1s is actually the real problem, since they have historically been the ones who said 'no.' Type 2s gonna type 2, but we needed type 1s to type 1, but instead modern type 1s end up type 2ing too often.
The real question is. Was it a type 1 in position to sign off on this change or a type 2. Lots of type 2s have been climbing the ranks at blizz over the years.

I feel... violated. I don't care if Blizzard deserves it now. I just wanna have some good memories I can occasionally revisit. I just wanna play some old War3 but that doesn't even exist fully anymore.

I thought they were meant to be a representation of how the game used to be back in the day...people didn't have brain damage back then...at least to this degree. I hate this body type shit.
They made a huge blogpost about how "NoChanges" where the philosophy for Classic, but that they weren't doing that for Wrath and were gonna make "SomeChanges" for the good of the game.
So they are fully discarding the one thing that made the Classic idea worthwhile, and instead are just remaking the old game with the new devs instead.
at that point: play on a private server. WOTLK private servers have matured a looot, played one a while ago and it was pretty fun.
They've always been the most stable, even during Wrath retail. Classic was hurt because it's so easy to "one little quality of life improvement won't hurt..." away the game, and BC suffered from a half-built base letting Dunning Kruger kick in and never actually implementing the game.
Its not like private servers are bastions of "NoChange" and "no petty drama." Too many of them devolve into MTX fests or personal fiefdoms for a few people.
They are fine for getting a quick hit of memories, but their long term playability is always iffy.

I mean their current card game expansion that they released a few days ago is turning out to be a complete nightmare both for play and balance. All of them involve extremely easy to execute win condies that aren't reliant on one specific card to work. There was literally an article on their discord about it, where even if the top-5 most played cards from the top-3 decks got nerfed/removed their winrates wouldn't actually change.
So basically Hearthstone is turning into Yu-gi-oh?
The powercreep for that game is insane now
Not sure as I haven't played the game in 20 years. TLDR though: one of the decks has an extremely consistent draw engine where you can get through most of your deck in the first 6 turns, another allows you to set up a board that is nigh-unkillable, and the other steals all of your opponent's cards then prevents them from using them.
Reminder: this isn't for money reasons. I even saw a post on r/wowclassic and most people were complaining about it.
So if most people are complaining about obvious ideological pushes, then it's not about money because this would cause people to unsubscribe.

I already have. It's fucking bullshit that they have to 'support' less than 1% of the population.
I had actually played a private server for classic about a year before they announced the first run of WoW classic. It wasn't all that hard to set up and ran flawlessly. I'd made it all the way to 60 and done most of the dungeons and a handful of the more casual raids. I think Naxx was still not available, but I never got that far. I couldn't see myself paying for the privilege to play an altered version, and that is even with me being someone who typically buys games legit when I want to play them.
Damn, that Type 2 has some bigass milkers.
