Went from never having seen it to seeing it only almost every email I get from a professor younger than ~50 in the span of about two years.

Actually, almost all of the female professors put their pronouns (always she/her -- basic bitches), and a FEW of the younger male professors still don't put pronouns.

Mass insanity. The cancer is spreading.

Bears out where I am. I'll be damned if I ever uSe PrOnOuNs. I'll tell ya what's worse in academia is having to hide my powerlevel. Which, that'd be no issue if offices were the way they were as little as a decade back and politics just weren't talked about. It's so god dang one-sided now and depending on where you're at you have to just smile and nod and act like everything's ok when it's not. But tbf, at the end of the day I'm pretty insulated from that sort of thing where I'm at and it's not like I didn't know things would probably be like that when I signed up so eh. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

All I can say is that if you’re in academia and NOT the farthest left progressive ever, you better have FIRE on speed dial. The purity tests are ridiculous.

This is cope. If a woman is doing it its because women are mindless herd animals. If a man is doing it hes either a queer or a loser. Thats it.

If a man is doing it hes either a queer or a loser.

That tracks with what he said though. A straight confident dude isn't going to worry "oh no I hope they don't think I'm a woman".

But the women doing it because they are mindless herd animals is absolutely true.

Imagine if they're thinking.. "OF COURSE I am a woman so I'm going to put she/her so everyone knows it and doesn't question it".

Or maybe they see the way the wind's blowing but I'm probably expecting too much of the normie.

I will say I ran into a case (probably the only one) where having the fucking pronouns would've been handy. I was having to email someone at a different place named Soul. Silly me I wrote that email as Ms. ______. It was embarrassing when I got an email correcting me but, easy fix, I just apologized and we went on with our business, no muss no fuss.

Actually, on second thought screw pronouns there too. If people can't handle accidentally calling someone by the wrong thing and moving on like I did they have no business working in an office, or, anywhere really.

Office muckety-mucks are working on making life such a hugbox they aren't anywhere close to actually living.

Defense against woke culture: this is like the grocer in Havel. Yes, you're signaling that you're afraid and therefore unquestioningly obedient, and that you therefore should be left alone. But this is hardly a reason to celebrate.

Reaffirmation: normal people, honestly, do not need any such thing. If people with foreign names that are not readily recognizable as male or female don't do it, there is no excuse for the Johns and Janes to do so.

I think there are two 'better' reasons: one is that people want to support LGBTP degeneracy. And two, they do it because they are obedient (though they probably have no idea that this is what leads them to be left alone).

I work for a national retail chain in Canada. The store I run is in is a pretty small town in a less cosmopolitan part of the country, so you don't see too much of that nonsense locally, but all of the corporate higher-ups are based in Toronto, and I definitely see pronouns in e-mails that come down from them. Almost exclusively she/her.

Vancouver is even more woke than TO. Outside the Lower Mainland, BC is okay.

I've seen it. It's voluntary and I don't engage with it because in literally every case it's: (he/him/his) and (she/her/hers).

Fucking corporate, upper-middle class whites are all doing this for social brownie points.

If I'm ever required, you'd better fucking believe I'm going to literally put my rank down, and you'd better believe I'm going to pull rank in exactly the same way I would do when I was in.

Yes, and no I never see any unconventional ones "in the wild".

To give another devil's advocate perspective, I communicate with a lot of Asians and Africans with unfamiliar names, and it does help me know if it's a man or a woman in those cases. Like "Sincerely, Ritafalonbetti Suliman (She/Her)". Also when it's an first name common to men and women.

I'd still rather do away with the practice.

But this is not a normal way of indicating that you are male or female.

For that matter, why do the subhuman degenerates always mention two or three pronouns? Why is it always 'she/her/hers', never 'she'? One wonders.

I would say that there is never an excuse for this sort of thing.

I haven't seen more than once or twice. I think both were marketing or HR types. Engineering people I work with don't tend to worry about nice signatures. I don't sell things I don't need to encourage people to contact me

(1) defense against woke cancel culture and (2) as a reaffirmation that YES they are a man or a woman and you should call them by the conventional pronouns.

I actually think that some of the woke pretender class are a recruitable population.

Look, we know that:

  • Feminist men objectify women
  • Anti-Racist whites are as bad as any stormfag
  • Racist Blacks blacks are extremely homophobic
  • Catholic Hispanics despise Feminists
  • The Socialists have a lot to say under their breath about jewish landlords
  • All of the Leftists keep fetishizing MAGA CHUDS, and even weirdo's like us because they want someone to dominate/oppress them (which is fucking weird as hell)

I would bet you money that some of these people are actually recruitable into becoming based by pulling at those Intersectional Coalition threads a bit. There's probably plenty of Useful Idiot Lefties that put their pronouns in their bios, but would giggle hysterically with excitement if you used the word "tranny" in a conversation with them.

You live in a sick and fallen society. Most people are unhappy, unhealthy, and unsuccessful. You're gonna have to guide some people towards the light.

because they want someone to dominate/oppress them

I think that this is why the Handmaids Tale is so popular with leftist women. Far from horrifying them, I think that it makes them wet.

I've only ever seen it from people in the UK, and I think even then they were NHS employees (they also used a "social justice focused" file hosting service whose name I can't remember, in case you wanted to know such things existed) and not employees of the place I was working at at the time. No unconventional.

That employer was also full of woke politics, diversity quotas, celebrated Floydmas and Juneteenth; so I'm not sure to what extent it correlates with what is now "baseline" levels of corporate wokeness. Perhaps it works as an indicator for the outliers, where if you see them you know you're probably not going to last very long as a normal person.

Hell, our Git repo still has a "master" branch, which I'm silently surprised about. But I work with a bunch of Indians and Chinese, so I guess they haven't gotten around to caring yet. And the company is so paranoid about IT security that no one who would care has access.

Office Space were it made today (and was trying to be honest, which it wouldn't):

Let me ask you something: you ever get an email with pronouns in the signature?

No man. Shit no. I believe you'd get your ass kicked if you did something like that.

I do not work in a formal environment so I typically use their name and if using their name is awkward I just say you/yours where reasonable. There is almost never a time where I would have to refer to someone with a pronoun when talking to that person.

I never see the unusual ones. The she/her stuff is either by hr, or the extreme wokies. Significant number of people do not use sigs at all where I work. It’s redundant. you clearly have my email. We don’t have company phones and we don’t have fax machines. My name is in the email. So email sigs are only used to virtue signal as far as I care.
