Nothing about the crazy ghost cities where no one ever lived?

I think that dovetails with the cities full of actors when the big wigs come to town

At least those crazy ghost cities only bring misery to the hundreds that used to live on the land instead of tens of thousands.

I still kinda side with them because that entire region is basically just a Muslim country that's being aggressively assimilated. It's absolutely not China proper.

It's pretty clear the Uighurs would prefer to be their own country.

They are wanting survival and freedom from an invading occupying force. People are sometimes more focused on the "muslim" part whilst forgetting they are a race with its own history, culture and heritage and being genocided

Muslim Utopia can only occur when everyone is Muslim. People complain about door knocking Mormons, but at least they don't massacre you when you open the door.

Uyghurs have their own history and culture and they are scared of being genocided. This applies to non muslim Uyghurs as well.

Go to buffet. Get kicked out after 1 plate - that's all you can eat!

OH MY GOD THIS MAKES SO MUCH SENSE NOW

I always wondered how it was possible for all the Chinese Immigrants going to my college to go to the Chinese restaurant and eat more food in one sitting than I can possibly imagine, and they were always thin.

They were used to eating everything at one time and then not eating again until the next day.

This explains why they would also spend hours at the restaurant eating a shared meal.

I have a couple in my town, and the owner there is becoming more based and angry with each passing day. He's actually super pissed that some of the Chinese people who want to work there are whining about not wanting to work a set schedule and wanting to get paid $16 /hr.

I feel like he's not wanting to deal with harboring indentured slaves when they don't even want to come to work.

The other one is owned by a family. The 8 year old ran my credit card. Good kids. The 16 year old was studying math in-between taking orders and answering the phone.

(This is why the Overseas Chinese do so damned well. Thomas Sowell proven right again)

Funny you mention that...I've been to at least two Chinese restaurants where I was convinced it was family owned and the entire family, including the kids, were working. It's not a diss either; they were always polite, efficient, and never idling when in public view...and the food was always good and served timely.

Does anyone know about the massacre in the third post? I'm not pretending that the Uighurs haven't carried out such attacks, but 2,000 deaths is far larger than any of the ones I've heard of.

The problem is it's hard to tell what's legitimate.

Communists vs Islamists.

You can rationalize that if Communists are genociding you, terrorism could be an acceptable response.

But if you are being incessantly attacked by Jihadis and the locals won't stop, the only moral answer would be to abandon control over the territory, ban entry into your country, and promise to bomb the shit out of them if they try anything... but Communists would never even consider that. Instead, they would do exactly what China did and try to depopulate the area.

There is nothing moral about leaving your own citizens, many of whom are Han Chinese, to their fate and even denying them entry.

And government/politics and morality have nothing at all to do with one another.

I personally find it hard to believe with China's domestic spying that anyone could pull off a terror attack without getting it stopped in advance, even Islamists.

How long does it take to machete through 2000 people, anyway?

It also should be noted that the official number is 200 killed and 1800 injured.

Ah, that would explain it: when they said 2000 Han Chinese were massacred, I took that to mean deaths, not deaths + injuries.

There were mass riots / uprising back in 2009. Hard to say what happened exactly because of totalitarian control of information and lies but it's true this is when the roundup began: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-07-05/china-xinjiang-urumqi-riots-10th-anniversary-uyghur-muslims/11270320

I don't think this is what OP was referring to.

That being said:

Following the attack, Abdullah Mansour, the leader of the Pakistan-based and Uighur-led Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) released a propaganda video praising the plotters and warned of future attacks.

Pakistan-based?

Is this a parody of a stupid American commenting on China?

All the Chinese know the TV is lies

So the Chinese are smarter than Americans, at least half of whom do not realize this?

He's presenting this as a symptom of a problem, that they don't offer free ketchup because even that small amenity is viewed as a vulnerability to be exploited.

There's a lost generation in China who steal everything that isn't nailed down. There's no toilet paper in public toilets because it will instantly get stolen. Despite all the big city glamor the country is still a shithole.

Taiwan is not like that

Current Taiwan is not exactly known for Christian tradition or Greco-Roman legal background either.

Present China is just USSR enhanced, except where USSR had natural resources to make it's economy float, China had/has cheap workforce.
