The multiple personality types have been on tumblr/twitter calling themselves 'plurals' and 'plural systems' for years already.
Considering that we've already reached the point where we're expected to pretend Downs Syndrome isn't something that should be terminated during pregnancy, it really wouldn't be too much of a leap if the next thing to be normalized was multiple personality disorder.

Doctors told my mother that one of my brothers was highly likely to have Downs and should be aborted. He's completely fine (other than being obese, but that's fixable)

I guess it's because it fits in so well with all the other gender and sexuality causes. Plus, the left needed something as outrageous as possible to top their previous causes. How else are they going to virtue signal their extreme tolerance and moral superiority?

Not just that, but it fits the one of their beliefs: sex and gender are two different things, and would be completely unrelated if society didn't socialize each sex into one particular gender. So, they point to transgender people and say that this is proof that their hypothesis is correct.
However, this ignores one key piece of evidence. In every human society, masculine males (to use their term) and feminine females have been the norm, even in societies that have some kind of transgender or nonbinary role. The probability that this would happen by chance are vanishingly small.

Per usual they get to decide how others feel about something, but don't you dare claim to know how they feel about anything.
If I was to call my wife to chestfeed our baby she would throw things at me. Women that breastfeed are very hormonal and you can add their menstrual cycle after like 6-8 month after giving birth. The mix is lethal.
Try dehumanizing a mother by calling her a chestfeader, just try it and wear a helmet.
They're already calling women 'menstruators' (try doing that when they are menstruating), "people who own a vagina", and any number of batshit crazy labels.

Leaving aside the subjective judgement on how much people's feeling might be hurt, I'd say dehumanising people hurts a lot more than just on an emotional level.

If you want to set the action as the important item, why not just "milking"? I've heard multiple women ask "you want milky?" to their babies before such an action, so it isn't even very out of sort.
But I guess that's not quite dehumanizing enough? Cattle isn't quite low enough tier, because they're arguably still sentient, unlike a good NPC.
