This is one reason to disbelieve that this AI is sentient. Even if "many millions of neurons" is hundreds, that's still orders of magnitude smaller than the human brain. If that number is close to 1 billion, that's about the same as a magpie.
I've got this book called The Language Police about political groups pushing textbook publishers to change their books. in the appendix, there's about 11 pages listing all the images that can't be used. Most of it's the usual suspects, but not all. Some go the other way ("Don't show a rainbow in a photograph (gay agenda)") and some are neutral ("Dogs and cats should not be on the furniture.").
Two answers come to mind:
-
"The pride festival is a way to expose Noah to the LGBT community. He needs to see that they're just people and nothing to be afraid of/hated."
-
"Oh god, Noah's a white male. I can't let him be straight and cis too. Maybe if I take him to gay pride, some of the queerness will rub off on him."
"Deaths from natural disasters have declined 90% since 1900"; who argues about this?
One of the talking points for environmentalism is that more people will die in the increased storms caused by climate change. The decline doesn't disprove climate change or even the idea that more natural disasters are occuring. It could be we're just handling them better these days.
"Like, wasn’t Jesus the guy who preached ‘Love Thy Neighbor’ (or ‘love thy teammate’ as it applies in this situation)?
He is loving his neighbor. If you think someone you know is doing something that js going to lead him to an eternity in hell, the loving thing isn't to support the person in persisting in this behavior.
I think it's derived from Marxist thought. Marx defined all aspects of society not directly involved with production as the superstructure of society: culture, religion, family, etc. Marx wrote that the superstructure arose to maintain the economic base of society. Because the superstructure maintains the base, dismantling the superstructure helps bring about the end of that economic system.
The modern left seems to have a slightly different idea. The economic base has been replaced with racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, Islamophobia, xenophobia, etc. The superstructure of society arose from these ideas (they claim) and must be dismantled. I don't think they know exactly what a society would look like with their ideals as a base except that it'd be completely different from our current one.
I like how the mainstream is acting like this never would have happened if the age to buy a gun was 21. Even if the measure was 100% effective, this would just delay shootings for a few years. I don't think the desire to shoot up a school is some youthful indiscretion you grow out of in a few years.
And if boys want to join her and use their voice, they might have an amazing experience. But they better abandon dig sites and get with the program and start saving the world.
As if the fossil record wasn't one of the ways scientists establish what Earth's past climate was like, enabling them to model what the future climate will look like.
If the Empire are space Nazis, what does that make the Diversity Alliance? Space Nation of Islam?
If Millersville University is to be believed, this is correct.
The funny thing is this is all done because of differences in SAT scores. Given the makers of the SAT don't start adjusting scores based on race, I predict that the scores will remain unchanged or will go down across the board.
Probably you're think of Jonathan Haidt's Moral Foundations Theory. His work showed that liberals more or less only use the care and fairness. Meanwhile, conservatives use all factors about equally (the others being authority, purity, and loyalty. He also showed that conservatives were better able to understand the viewpoint of liberals, since they use shared foundations, while liberals had trouble understanding conservatives because they involved foundations not shared.
