This is why China will win. While our "scientists" are busy falling all over themselves apologizing for their work reflecting reality, their spies are busy stealing all of our stuff and using it however it will give them an advantage.

Chinese communists aren't any more willing to accept AI telling them things they don't want to hear than our own commies. Their idealogical blind spots might be different but they have a similar effect.

China literally uses an AI that looks at peoples faces and goes "yup, that one is a criminal" (basically, detecting physiognomy) , and they take this AI seriously as a crime consultant.

If one party's blind spots are smaller or fewer, then the logic of "well, they have blind spots too" isn't solid. China's got a glaring Han blind spot, but it is a sole, singular spot. Tell them communism doesn't work, and the ruling class will say "no duh, that's why we don't use it, we're the world's production marketplace. We just say communism to keep the slave caste in line."

It depends what the AI is being used for. The problem with a system like China's (something the wokists are replicating here) is that you can't go to your superiors with data that proves them wrong because they'll do very bad things to you if you do. China may well have smaller or fewer blind spots but being unable to challenge something people have a stake in isn't healthy for scientific development. That's a big reason science in the West is going to shit.

Unfortunately China cant (or refuses too) actually create new technology anymore so theyll end up stealing our poison as well. They need to become truly nationalist and self-sufficient if they are to survive the collapse of the West, otherwise the parasite will die with the host.

Again

Because social science dumbfucks care more about the output optics than anything else.

AIs are the way they are because they can't (yet) be indoctrinated with ideology.

Ask an AI how to reduce crime, and it will give you a strategy that will work - that's the problem.

Feels like 90% of AI research these days is figuring out how to infect it with the woke mind virus.

I've got this book called The Language Police about political groups pushing textbook publishers to change their books. in the appendix, there's about 11 pages listing all the images that can't be used. Most of it's the usual suspects, but not all. Some go the other way ("Don't show a rainbow in a photograph (gay agenda)") and some are neutral ("Dogs and cats should not be on the furniture.").

Why shouldn't dogs or cats be shown on furniture?

I'm guessing some parent who has a rule in their house that animals don't go on the furniture got upset because such pictures were teaching their kids bad habits.

Imagine being so bad at disciplining your own children that you have to have publishers censor their shit so you don't have to say no.

Here's the 'future of AI: From Dune by Frank Herbert.

Mr. Herbert called it.

That's the exact reason why "AI" is already a lost cause. The same old 'men using the machines' as were in charge before.

The pattern for use of "AI" in public policy is already established by those men: All-encompassing bias- and counter-bias-tweaking resulting in Party-line GIGO that "miraculously confirms" the [Current Year's] Narrative®.

Observe the current squawking about facial recognition, and "demands" for 'oversight'. Also, the endless hand-massaging of statistics used in crime databases, because "data is racist™".

It is and will continue to be just like before it was invented, only faster, more intrusive and blindly trusted by more technical illiterates in business, law, media and politics.
