I’m one of those people who likes anime but is repulsed by the weeb culture that surrounds it. I mostly keep my anime interest to myself because I don’t want to be lumped in with the rest of them.

Some anime have excellent storytelling that isn’t contaminated by western wokeness (yet), so it’s a breath of fresh air compared to the zombified corpses of western media that surround us on a daily basis here.

The problem really boils down to the Left’s inability to view individuals as individuals. They only see people as representatives of a group.

Actually, it boils down even further…

The problem with the Left, at its core, is their total divorcement from reality. They’ve somehow lost their connection to the human experience. They’re merely NPCs acting out a script that has been handed to them. They only understand the concept of “man” and “woman” and “black” and “white” by the script they were handed, not through any real human experience. Their understanding is shallow and cold… there’s no depth of color or life to these concepts as they perceive them.

“Be kind to others”, “forgive and forget”, “sticks and stones”… it’s almost like the moral principles taught by prior generations existed for a reason.

We can’t manipulate or exploit people who are well-adjusted though. We need them to be as traumatized and mentally ill as possible. Instead let’s teach them to be neurotic and unforgiving and intolerant. That should do the trick.

I know everyone is saying don't watch the show, but I'll probably watch an episode or two at least, and here's why:

TheQuartering, Heelsvbabyface, Disparu, Geeks & Gamers, Nerdrotic, Critical Drinker and countless smaller right-wing pundits have been slamming The Rings of Power relentlessly for 6+ months. They release videos almost every other day talking about how terrible the show will be and they've been making a ton of bold claims along the way.

At this point I want to watch the show in order to evaluate whether these right-wing pundits are just grifters appealing to their right-wing audiences or whether everything they've been saying is measured and reasonable. This is a valuable opportunity to judge for myself how reasonable these pundits really are.

She's just further up on the slippery slope... give her time.

Honestly though, she probably won't budge from her current positions. Most people have a limit on how much they're willing to change. The big leaps come with the brian-washing of young people who push the envelope of what is acceptable... and the politicians who don't have a limit as long as it helps them gain more power.

I'm not actually that worried about it. Perhaps I'm too close to it, but the fear mongering on the Left just sounds like the typical background noise to me. I think the Left is getting desperate given how bad the state of country is with the Biden Administration, so they're trying their best to change the topic to something else, anything else.

What is a "woman"? What happened to "birthing persons" or "people who bleed"?

Strange how the definition of "woman" suddenly became clear after Roe v. Wade was overturned.

They don't care anything about ANY of the causes they claim to support. Every person and every cause is just a stepping stone to power.

I think it's because they own the rights to the term "Hobbit". They only purchased the appendices of the Silmarillion (I believe) which didn't have Hobbits in them because they didn't exist during that age yet.

I'm sure their thought process didn't go beyond: "The Lord of the Rings has Hobbits, so we need to have Hobbits".

Hobbits were written by Tolkein as a fantasy representation of the rural English commoner, the working class common folk who he felt epitomized the English spirit.

That being the case, it makes perfect sense that they would put them down as dirty, uncultured simpletons... which is exactly what the Left thinks about rural people.

While this might be a step too far for some here, I think many would be surprised just how full of holes the theory of evolution is as well.

There is definitely some truth to evolution -- particularly on shorter time scales -- but there are so many issues with evolutionary theory as a whole that continue to be ignored or brushed off as unimportant, that it's really just a house of cards waiting to collapse at this point.

Basically, scientists have GREATLY underestimated the complexity of the systems which support life and the timescales required to randomly produce these systems. Still, the establishment clings to it out of pride -- many careers and many fields have been established on the assumption that evolution is true -- and fear that they might lose hard-fought ground in the public sphere to religion which they disdain.

I liked Knives Out and Looper. I think he's probably a fine director, just not the right person for Star Wars.

You can have talent in a particular area but not be the right person for the job. I wouldn't ask James Cameron to direct Star Trek or Tarantino to direct Downton Abbey because you know they would put their own twist on it that isn't necessarily faithful to the source material. It's important to pick the director whose style and vision matches the project.

I lay the blame for The Last Jedi entirely on Kathleen Kennedy.

More government is always the solution, even when government caused the problem in the first place.

The fact that it's part of the Amazon Prime subscription will make it very hard to prove that it didn't do well. It's not like we can track ticket sales. The only way to really prove it is if there was a leaked internal memo or communication to the board of directors or something. Even then it would be brushed under the rug.

Leftists and corporations both love not being able to be held accountable.

Conspiracy, treason, murder, incest, rape, torture... that's all fine, but whatever you do, don't point out the black guy who obviously isn't part of the family tree.

Yeah, when shooters are glorified in the media (for political reasons) and anyone who commits a crime (that benefits the Left politically) is given a slap on the wrist, and anyone who stops a crime (that hurts the Left politically) is prosecuted to the full extent of the law and beyond... there's almost no reason NOT to commit shootings, other than human decency.

This is what happens to a society where justice is perverted beyond recognition and evil people aren't held to account, plain and simple.

I always get roasted when I make anime recommendations, but here are some you might want to try if you haven't already:

  • Ergo Proxy - Post-apocalyptic cyber-punk with dense philosophical themes. Can be confusing and open for interpretation, especially towards the end but it's one of my favorites.

  • Ghost in the Shell - All of the pre-2016 ones are good, haven't watched the newer ones, but Stand Alone Complex is best IMHO.

  • Parasyte -the maxim- - Very gory. This one starts off great but gradually changes in tone and feel so your taste may vary.

  • Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works - Honestly the only one of the Fate/Stay series I can recommend, but it is great as a stand-alone piece.

  • Sword of the Stranger - Good samurai-era action movie with great animation and a strong main character.

  • Baki the Grappler - I haven't watched it yet but the manga is nuts and it sounds right up your alley.

Here are some others that you might want to try, even though they don't exactly fit your criteria:

  • Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - When you said "masculine" the first thing I thought of was one of the side characters from this anime. May not be to your taste as it's a mecha anime, but it's definitely a wild ride.

  • Grimgar - Ashes and Illusions - Again, not exactly hyper-masculine as it's about a bunch of teenagers, but it's a very grounded and realistic take on the Isekai genre.

  • World Trigger - Shonen-style battle anime about mostly teenagers training to fight invaders from another dimension, but the characters are unusually mature and the fights are more cerebral than flashy, which I appreciate.

  • Demon Slayer - Another one about teenagers (as is most common) but dark and bloody compared to many other shonen. Also gorgeously animated.

Also, Tokyo Ghoul and Psycho Pass are both often mentioned as popular dark, gory and mature series but I'm personally not a huge fan of either of them. Still, you may want to give them a try.

Reddit was always Left-leaning, but yeah... they've been systematically removing anyone who disagrees with them so it's pretty much hell for decent, rational people now.

I remember being surprised by how neutered /r/Conservative and /r/Christianity were back in early 2010's. I don't think it was because of moderation either. While not as bad as other subreddits, the communities in general just weren't friendly to people with strong political or moral beliefs, especially if you were vocal about them.

Members of the degenerates themselves, probably very few. Unfortunately there are plenty of straight white people who support this degeneracy for "the cause", or for virtue points, or out of self-loathing.

Blacks and Hispanics have their own issues but apparently they don't tolerate this degeneracy as much as the whites do.

I don't know what you think you're arguing against.

The Chinese people permitted and even supported the rise of Communism long before they had the modern technology capable of monitoring every second of their lives. Yes, the same thing will happen in the USA if people don't stand up against authoritarianism here, as clearly evidenced by recent events. Nobody is arguing otherwise.

Are you Chinese, by any chance? Because I'm sensing a degree of insecurity in your argumentation. You're continually resorting to whataboutism to deflect and talk about how everyone except the Chinese are flawed.

If I point out how successful the Taiwanese (Chinese + liberalism) are, how will you react I wonder?

3
novanleon 3 points ago +3 / -0

You have to go that far back to find a contribution by the Chinese? You’re making my point.

And what does Persia or India have to do with anything?

The modern Chinese are controlled by pretty tyrants and dictators. They create nothing of value, they only copy and steal from others. I have nothing against the Chinese people, but their acceptance of authoritarianism prevents them from ever being a great civilization.

Pursuing women is one thing. Throwing money and attention at half-naked women whoring themselves out for attention is something else.

You can't say we should hold women to a higher standard while also claiming it's impossible to hold men to an equally high standard.
