Saw speculation online that letting tech-connected banks fail is a lead-up to implementing fedcoin and getting rid of crypto. Will be interesting to watch.

J6 is like the holocoaster: it didn't happen the way everyone says; it didn't go nearly far enough; if it had gone all the way, they would have deserved it.

I still think it could work for a small, ethnically homogeneous, nuclear armed nation.

There are no economies of scale politically.

There's a series of no-budget films that do this. I've only seen the one, and it was good for what it was.

Daily reminder there is no gay gene and "being in the closet" means social pressure is preventing you from making an objectively incorrect decision to be a fag.

Holy shit, click the "out of embarrassment" link toward the end of the article.

Agreed. That gets into the topic of how "love" should mean "what is best for you" not "whatever you want," something people increasingly refuse to understand.

Coincidentally, what's best for my enemies is for me to defeat them.

A lot of the NT talk about loving your "brother" actually translates as "fellow believer" not "people."

It's a guide for community-building ("you gotta get along, guys, you live together") not instructions to surrender to the prince of this world.

What's wrong with CD-R?

I agree there's a quality difference between a burned and pressed discs. Neither will rot, unlike magnetic tape.

2
Sneak_King 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah, but even if stored well, magnetic tape isn't nearly as stable as a disc.

VHS has a relatively short shelf life. Strongly recommend ripping them to discs of some kind.

I've been trying to come up with a business plan so I can quit my office job. You may be on to something.

And I think air in Japan should cost money.

An opinion is like an asshole: mine is right.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice to see a world leader call this stuff out.

But a former Soviet complaining about the state of the GAE is like a former Soviet complaining about the state of Pripyat. Or a former Soviet complaining about how fucked up Germany is now.

Not to say it's the only cause, but Soviets spending the entire wealth of their empire and the better part of a century to craft, detonate, and support the fallout of a cultural bomb in the US is a non-trivial piece of the puzzle.
