So what I'm hearing from this is that you get more time in prison protesting the current regime that's oh-so-desperate to claim it's 'legitimate', than you do murdering people.

Wow. That goes places I'm not sure I want to consider in full.

(Alt take: He only got five fucking years for killing an 18-year old kid cause it was an acceptable target. Remember everyone: They really do hate you and want you dead.)

As opposed to OPEC just taking advantage of our gutless leadership. But nope. Gotta blame Republicans, even when they're not in charge of fuck all.

Yeah, I'm not surprised.

I can't wait for the expected verbal dribbles from the typical groups mumbling something about how the 'president' doesn't set gas prices.

Fucking morons.

I could use this whole spiel as a classic example of how propaganda works.

He's living in a delusional fantasy crafted by hollywood and journalists, and anyone with a lick of actual experience in the real world knows this.

I see the big things for simps being the imagined emotional and social connection they have with their obsession of choice - the fake validation and attention, if you will.

Pointing out that there are hotter women in real-life probably won't fix that, if at all.

Ethnic nepotism combined with actually believing their own press.

It's easy enough to believing you really are 'all that' when you coast through life without getting challenged.

People forget that Michael Crichton had an actual PhD in medicine(even though he was technically not a practicing medical doctor, he still did the necessary internships). And alot of his early stuff was just pure medical drama effectively calling out alot of medical 'god complexes' where doctor's could do no wrong.

He was effectively calling out the bullshit from inside the room, so to speak.

I'd love for them to try to emigrate elsewhere only to run face-first into how every other goddamn country in the world manages their immigration.

Unless you're a retarded brown person who's the special darling of various NGOs and government agencies, you're going to be in for a surprising time.

I like Neverwinter Nights. It's got that old school D&D vibe, and if you actually play through all the expansions, it feels like your character going from lvl 1 killing rats in the sewer to god-like capabilities.

The only thing that might give you pause is the old graphics and interface, but c'mon, it's not any worse than than Diablo and it's ilk. And the Neverwinter Nights interface is loads better than NWN2. Something about that game's interface made me dump it before finishing the tutorial.

My plans really haven't changed; Maybe I'll get it in a few years if I get really bored.

Maybe I won't.

I've got plenty games to play around with as-is.

11
Grant_us_eyes 11 points ago +11 / -0

What, they're still trying to push that old canard?

I tend to read askmen on reddit a fair bit(I get bored at work), and for a while there was a consistent thread of women barging in when someone said 'females' and making a big hay of it.

I can't even think any of this is organic by this point. It's all astroturf.

Grant_us_eyes 9 points ago +9 / -0

No kidding. I look at this long string of bullshit and I'm probably taking away some ideas from it that some people would probably not have me consider.

Maybe the primary purpose of religion was to suppress this broken segment of the population, for the betterment of mankind.

Pretty much. Among other things.

This is something that's been stuck in my mental craw and I've been chewing on it for a while.

Strip out the supernatural elements of scripture, and what are you left with? Stories, parables, teachings, philosophy, all geared around the idea of 'this is how you live a functioning life'. It's an answer to a problem people have forgotten about. And then they get surprised when you rip all of it away you get an absolute mess of a clusterfuck.

Surprise, shit that's been around for over two thousand years at a minimum actually has a purpose! Who knew?

Insert long rant here about how they can never find an actual attractive black women to play the part, for some fucking reason.

I doubt modern game devs could pull off a Jolee Bindo.

I wouldn't complain if they did, though.

Jedi Fallen Order is actually an excellent example. That's a game I might have actually looked into - protag is a white male, doesn't look like an idiot, combat seems okay, atleast pretends a little to be more Prequel than Disney...

...and then we have his, what, mentor? That looks like a straight up half-human half-alien, and I'm basically 'nope'. Not happening. Fuck that. I'm out.

Grant_us_eyes 31 points ago +31 / -0

Yes.

I want attractive characters. People want attractive characters. When people make mods for games, what's the first thing they do? Make all the characters they interact with attractive.

This really shouldn't be some biblical revelation, but I suppose we've gotten to the point where these various DIE hires are so up in their own little bubble that they don't actually interact with real people, or the 'sweaty gamers' they sell this stuff to.

You pretty much nailed it. Starfield looks like it's got alot of potential, but this is a 'buy after a year' purchase for me, if ever.

3
Grant_us_eyes 3 points ago +3 / -0

I do, actually!

(This is the part I love about Dune - Frank Herbert includes all these small little details just as offhand mentions that are kind of a big deal.)

I'm copying from an ebook, so excuse any whonky formatting.

His youth;

My father, the Padishah Emperor, took me by the hand one day and I sensed in the ways my mother had taught me that he was disturbed. He led me down the Hall of Portraits to the ego-likeness of the Duke Leto Atreides. I marked the strong resemblance between them—my father and this man in the portrait—bothwith thin, elegant faces and sharp features dominated by cold eyes. "Princess daughter," my father said, "I would that you’d been older when it came time for this man to choose a woman." My father was 71 at the time and looking no older than the man in the portrait, and I was but 14, yet I remember deducing in that instant that my father secretly wished the Duke had been his son, and disliked the political necessities that made them enemies. -"In my Father’s House" by Princess Irulan

Maybe not thirty something, but still young-looking enough to be Leto's equivalent.

Red hair;

Paul thought then of prescient glimpses into the possibilities of this moment—and one time-line where Thufir carried a poisoned needle which the Emperor commanded he use against "this upstart Duke."

The entrance guards stepped aside, formed a short corridor of lances. There came a murmurous swish of garments, feet rasping the sand that had drifted into the Residency.

The Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV led his people into the hall. His burseg helmet had been lost and the red hair stood out in disarray. His uniform’s left sleeve had been ripped along the inner seam. He was beltless and without weapons, but his presence moved with him like a force-shield bubble that kept his immediate area open.

And again;

"Nobody permitted me to—"

"Stop playing the fool," Paul barked. "The Guild is like a village beside a river. They need the water, but can only dip out what they require. They cannot dam the river and control it, because that focuses attention on what they take, it brings down eventual destruction. The spice flow, that’s their river, and I have built a dam. But my dam is such that you cannot destroy it without destroying the river."

The Emperor brushed a hand through his red hair, glanced at the backs of the two Guildsmen.

"Even your Bene Gesserit Truthsayer is trembling," Paul said. "There are other poisons the Reverend Mothers can use for their tricks, but once they’ve used the spice liquor, the others no longer work."

So, yeah. None of the movie's really got him right.

Fucking thank you.

Liet Kynes

Herbert is good because he plays around with alot of things in his books, and the one thing he doesn't mind indulging in basically amounts to the conflict between gender.

The Padishah Emperor is the most powerful man in the universe. A god in all but name, whom commands all of humanity, whom calls the Guild and the Landsraad to heel, who orchestrates the downfall of those whom oppose him without care for the repercussions -

Yet the moment he requests a male child from his Bene Gesserit witch, the basic reply is 'Lol no get fucked. We'll whore your daughter out to whom we wish to secure our genetic plan for humanity'.

Yeah. You think someone in that sort of situation is going to send a woman as his Hand and Word on Arrakis? Fuck no.

(Also he should be a thirty-something looking redhead but none of the movies ever do that, heh.)

Conversely, Dune is also a story about how love can move the universe, because when Leto asked for a son from his Bene Gesserit witch, his wife in all but name, she basically went all in and gave him what he wanted - threw away thousand years of breeding, all for love.

But Villenuive supposedly has a deep understanding of the setting. Yeah. Sure.

Freman Race

Fun fact - we get an off-hand mention of how the Saurdukar and the Fremen were both taken from the same location before being resettled on their respective planets. So... yeah.

There's a subset of normies republicans whom always assume good faith when arguing with their opponents.

When the left trot out the old racism canard, they're obviously horrified and go immediately on the defensive. They don't realize that this makes you look weak, that this makes you 'the lady doth protest too much', that this plays exactly into the kafka-trap their opponents engineer and makes normies waste energy on things their opponents really don't care about.

These self-same normies are the one's trying to go 'See!? SEE!?' about this, as if makes the racism accusation null and void. Not realizing that it doesn't matter, that they'll be accused of racism even harder with the terms 'House Nigger' and all the various epitaphs they throw at Sowell.

This is, incidentally, why I tend to have a very hard time swallowing the idea of any GOP candidate that's non-white or a woman. Because I have a very hard time believing they're putting them forth as honestly skilled candidates and tend to assume that they're using them as an accusation against racism/misogny, which doesn't work anyways.

11
Grant_us_eyes 11 points ago +11 / -0

Most normies really, really don't get the idea of tribal/ethnic solidarity and nepotism. It's an alien concept, completely outside their realm of thought.

Those that learn otherwise tend to have that revelation delivered in a short, nasty fashion.

Same. I had to drive from Florida to Vermont before the election, and guess what I saw in excess? A fuckton of ground-swell Trump support.

Zero Biden.

And for much people mumble about 'voting against Trump', I've met some people with a deep, deep hatred of Biden. From some people I wouldn't expect it from. Hell, I still remember when my boss went off on Biden, which made me take a metaphorical step back, cause he's normally a pretty chill dude and will make excuses not to bitch about people. Shocked the hell out of me, let me tell you.

Yeah, this is definitely a 'Fucking WHAT' moment.

Worse, there's probably people in the DoJ who think this is a perfectly sensible thing to be up in arms about.

I'd say that the DoD will have a quiet moment with the DoJ to shut this shit down quickly, but I suppose it depends on how badly the DoD has drunk the DIE kool-aid.

Can't have the Church actually teaching the lessons of Christ, or else people might starting asking some uncomfortable questions.

Or take actual action to solve problems.

Instead we get the deformed, twisted, modern reading that people should just lay down and take what abuse others deliver unto them. Disgusting.
