They have a lot of 'stay vacations' within the country which, when you watch travel videos from the likes of guys like Chris Broad, you kinda see why they DON'T need to go abroad to see something new with all the different traditions.
Something that's slowly being lost in Europe with the government's there pushing for uniformity over traditions, history and culture.
Flying also costs money. With the shadow of the Lost Decades (plural) hanging over Japan's economy and the people's pessimism over the future, the Japanese would rather save money and stay home.
Japan also doesnt hate itself nor do its tv and ads promote their woman being mudsharks/race traitors unlike the west where its always Whtie woman with nonwhite
Earlier this year, JATA President Hiroyuki Takahashi raised concerns that the decline in interest among young people to travel abroad and see other countries may compromise Japan’s international competitiveness in the future.
“International exchange is based on mutually beneficial relationships between countries, so the current severe imbalance between inbound and outbound tourism needs to be corrected as soon as possible,” he said.
Many Canadians didn't have a passport before 9/11 because it was possible to cross into the US by land without one for the most part.
I would imagine the % of Americans v. Canadians who hold a valid passport is a lot lower because Canadians need to visit the US frequently but burgers have little reason ever to come north (especially post-COVID/Trudeau era).
It's relatively difficult to leave Canada for parts unknown without having to enter the US at some point. This is also one of the reasons that Trudeau's malicious airline vaxx mandate was so evil & damaging for purebloods in coordination with Biden keeping the land border closed to the unjabbed for years and years.
There are also some natives in Canada that can cross back & forth across the 49th parallel without a formal passport because of blood quantum agreements and old treaties. Along with some reservations themselves which actually span the border.
You can travel within Schengen and to some countries outside of it (e.g. Turkey and I think Switzerland) with a European ID card. So the numbers for Danes and Germans are likely a vast understatement.
Actually come to think of it.. Japanese do seem to be on the low end of world wide tourism. Been like that forever, and I can't blame em. The rest of the world must look like absolute anarchy to them.
I can, but if you didn't care enough to do so, why should I? You were trying to bring something of interest to our attention, but all you brought was AI slop.
Part of that is also the large percentage of people in Japan who don't take all of their paid vacation time each year. They may be too busy working themselves to death to stay and fight.

Local Tourism is just as important as international. There's a reason yuru camp and travel iyashikei are a thing.

I’d really like to know how Japan’s economy bottomed out like this.
It's because America made them sign the Plaza accord. Look it up

I travelled all over the world without a passport, usually accompanied by 5000 of my closest friends.
Due to US/Japan Status of Forces agreement, I don't need a passport to travel to Japan. My retired military ID is enough to get me into the country.
Um you can't have 5000 close friends.....
It's clearly a military joke.
Dude, you need a pair of binoculars, the point of that post went so far over your head.
I was on an aircraft carrier.
If only there were something about your username that might have helped him figure out you were in the Navy.
Don't know why you're being downvoted.
It's true.
The number of close friends the human brain can keep track of is about 150.
It's known as Dunbar's Number.
He is being downvoted because it's obviously a joke about being in the Navy.
"Obviously?" I have never heard this one in my 40+ years.
Genuine ignorance here.
It's a fairly common Navy joke. His user name and the rest of his comment give lots of context clues if you hadn't heard it before.
You both are retarded.
Yea, you shouldnt be downvoted for not getting the context.
Thanks for understanding.
My Facebook account says otherwise.
I'm sure the ship was full of Seamen. I bet there was a lot of guys serving on the ship as well.
Best post of the day.
Other percentages.
70% of New Zealanders have a passport
65% of Danish have a passport
41% of Germans have a passport
70% of Canadians have a passport
13% of Chinese have a passport
68% of Koreans have a passport
60% of Taiwanese have a passport.
The world's being flooded with abhuman monsters, and there's no need to 'compete' with alien kudzu.

US Passport holdings were also lower before 9/11, apparently 4% in 1990

Americans didn't, even though they rarely have a passport.
I hope you're right, and enough Yamato-Tamashii survived the nuclear bombings to preserve what's left of Japan.
Actually come to think of it.. Japanese do seem to be on the low end of world wide tourism. Been like that forever, and I can't blame em. The rest of the world must look like absolute anarchy to them.
You expect me to trust an AI on statistics? Made by Google? In a screenshot? Likely based on varying methodologies with questionable reliabilities?
Well if you don't trust it you can always look up the info yourself.
I can, but if you didn't care enough to do so, why should I? You were trying to bring something of interest to our attention, but all you brought was AI slop.
