Trump just announced the U.S. will now be selling a "GOLD CARD" for $5 million which is basically an instant green card plus a path to citizenship (twitter.com)

America is a country not an economic zone.

The base wants America first not flooding the country with more immigrants.

Trump is making a huge mistake with this.

The people who will buy their way in are Chinese spies, Oil sheiks, Israeli spies and Russian oligarchs.

We don't need or want any more of these terrible people here.

You are correct with all of that but the US is charging 5 times more than China is for the same deal currently.

I know a lot of people who spent $1 million to set themselves up as in China as 'semi-nationals' who spend a lot of money, pay a lot of taxes and employ a lot of people.

Most of the devices you use to share your thought with us, regardless of where you are in the world, share their origins with some of those people. Be it access entry point, telecoms system, servers or handling logistics for physicality.

I think that Trump is just trying to keep the keel upright as India is about to become the new China and if we're not all in the same boat then whoever gets the wind sets the pace.

People did not vote for this shit.

He didn't run on this shit.

This is a rug pull being performed on the base.

This policy will suppress wages and make housing even more unaffordable for American citizens

There is no defense for this shit.

Again you are perfectly right with all of that.

I'm just pointing out the similarities that the succeeding nations are doing at the moment.

I don't like it and feel it is still globalisation but set to a different beat.

These 'new jobs' will still be for maximum profit and so the cheaper the workforce the better it is for shareholders.

If the taxpayers=shareholder card being hinted at by Trump works then bully for the US!

However history has shown that it's not about everyone having, it's about making sure that some have not. If that value system is to be maintained then regardless of democratic choice there will be an imbalance towards to those with gaining more.

If I were a conspiracy theorist (Which I'm not) I'd say the whole thing was orchestrated to further divide the rich from poor. As it is I think it's just about treading water against actual threats to the future of the species.

The Roman empire sold citizenship for money.

How did that end?

You show me a working example of any perpetual civilisation and I'll jump in with both feet first.

As it is it seems like a state of constant flux to me.

But I'm sure, this time, it'll work out just right.

I am not saying there is a way to have a perpetual civilization.

I am just saying making the same civilization ending mistakes again is a terrible idea.

Trump has always been an amoral businessman, that is the problem here.

He doesn't realize that selling gold cards is destructive to the average American's quality of life and that this is a morally repugnant betrayal of his base.

Anyone with real money would not chose to live in the US. Even people born there and wish to retain their citizenship stay overseas, Hawaii at the least.

So clearly this isn't about money moving in and inviting everyone around for a barbecue.

It does seem to be an entrance for those with enough capital backing behind them to come in and establish satellite offices for their successful ventures based elsewhere. A means of trade for business which will enrich both the US and wherever they are from - An inverse USAID if you will.

Instead of a deal for infrastructure reform being done on the East coast of Africa being brokered in Jordan, it is brokered in Miami. The freighting of goods through the Panama canal isn't sealed in Tokyo, but Boston. How the world heads discuss collective action in done in New York, not Davos.

That's how it seems to me at least. I can't think of other ways which the US would benefit from an open market which allowed agitators in unless it was in their interests to maintain control. Think Lebanon of 1960 versus any decade before or after that. Beirut was the centre of economic, social, intellectual, and cultural life in the Arabic Middle East. By not maintaining its elite status it became a Third World country still plagued by terrorist activity.

I think this is a case of keep your enemies closer.

But I've no clue as to what is going on in Trump's mind. But it's fun to speculate.

The Roman empire sold citizenship for money.

Roman Empire ended when they allowed Barbarians to enlist in the military as a path to citizenship.

The payment for Citizenship was not what did it: Having a HIGHLY Training opposition force within the Roman Empire did.

This GOLD card is no different than what a lot of Asian countries already have in place. The sky is not falling in these countries either.

Further, it's $5 Million Dollars! People who have that lying around are not the same type of people we are trying to keep out. IF anything, this the type of person to start a US company.

Finally -- like all things Trump -- this is his first salvo in his negotiation. There are currently no countries out there that have a Gold Visa program that allow an easy path to citizenship, so that will most likely be removed.

Trump said he thinks he can sell 10 million of these gold cards so clearly many people.

The Israeli, Chinese, Russia, Qatar and Saudi governments can certainly fund many individuals and get their spies or terrorists through this.

10 million at $5 million each is $50 trillion. That number doesn't seem plausible but a 3% increase in population in exchange for erasing the national debt and $14T excess? Not the worst deal ever.

Trump ran on economic populism and being the voice for the forgotten working class men and women of America

Importing 10 million foreigners is not what we want.

Paying off the national debt is pointless when the cunts in Washington will soon rack up the bill again endlessly.

MAGA has always been an immigration restrictionist movement.

This is a bait and switch being performed

What if he made it so there were only as many "Gold Cards" as there were illegals deported? Then you're immigration neutral.

Consider that we need to deport 25 million illegals to get rid of all of them.

You think the base wants 25 million legal immigrants?

Hell fucking no

10 million MILLIONAIRES are not the same as the typical legal immigrant, ok?

Someone with $5M to spend on that will have a LOT more money to bring along. That money will get spent & invested in the USA, at least some of it.

I thought about this last night. How many people in the world can shill out 5 million dollars? It's not like we're talking about people with net worth of 5 million dollars. It's going to be a range of people between "is that a lot of money?" and "I can still be comfortable after shilling out for it"

And is it for one person? Or 5 mill gets you and your wife and kids over as well?

According to The Wealth Report, published by Knight Frank in 2021, there are more than 520,000 (with net worth of 30 million or more), a third live in the US

Let's say that's 350,000 based on report, and we bump that up to 500k since it's 2025, and then we assume they're wrong and we double it to a million. Multiply that by 10 for family with access to people with that kind of wealth.

That's 10 million people who can afford it without factoring in companies and corporations.

I just don't see any more than 1-2 million people signing up for this and I would go even as low as 250k in the first year, after maybe 50-100k initial rush to apply.

But what the fuck do I know? I just think 10 million is impossibly optimistic.

I would love 5 million gold card visas being issued. If he were smart he would cap it at a number thought up by a brain trust to give it that fomo. And you get a NFT of your visa for free!

The US has done this program before at a cost of $1.8M per card. There were about 8,000 takers. Impossibly optimistic is right.

are you talking about the EB-5 Program? Or was there something else that was for a limited time? Because EB-5 is not even $1.8M for the card, you have to "invest" it into a business, ripe for exploit, and without research I'd imagine you can circle jerk the same wealth to the next of kin over and over after you get your permanent residents papers.

Trump is forgetting why he won. No one wants foreign money hiring foreign workers. We don’t want foreign Chinese “millionaires” buying citizenship to rape up long term. We don’t want foreign jeet “millionaires” buying citizenship to mass import H1Bs, fuck off were full applies across the board EXCEPT for the extremely small minority of Uber mensch geniuses which is maybe, maybe 2k a year. All this card does is wage stagnation and government paycheck.

Look at what happened to Canada.

Unfettered legal immigration has made housing nearly impossible to afford for the average native Canadians.

I don't want that shit happening to us in America

Trump views America as an business and that is an incorrect perspective

America is a nation with its own culture and own people not an economic zone.

He's looking at it like a business and wants to "poch talent". Honestly, if he makes America a prosperous and free place, he won't need to because those type of people would want to come here.

The "Nomad Capitalist" types that don't want to come here are very clear that it is about the extreme taxes, regulations, and double-dipping by the US tax code.

The ones that would integrate well in the US would be the ones who don't want to come here for the money, but the ideology of Americanism.

You are talking about the EB-5 visa which requires one million dollars of investment and it is capped at about 10,000 per year.

I am personally also against the EB-5 visa as a staunch immigration restrictionist.

What Trump is proposing here with the gold cards is no caps.

It is a disaster waiting to happen!

I mean a first act needs to cutting off ALL NGO funding and 'foreign assistance' that the US does which DOGE is very active on for this to even be a concept.

If there's one thing I've noticed is NO country like to pay for sending immigrants to America, they want America to fund their own invasion.

Cutting off those, it'll make them at least hesitant to spend 5 million per person when it's THEIR money.

Unless it’s more Whites coming here from South Africa, Australia or Europe, we don’t need them. Fact of the matter is, this nation was only successful while ALL of its economic, scientific, and governmental institutions were dominated by White men at all levels. Whether boomers want to admit it or not, this nation isn’t just an idea, it’s a people, an ethnicity at this point depending on how many generations your familial ties are to this land, and unless you are White, the odds are that your race will outweigh assimilation. There are even some Whites who don’t assimilate well, like the Irish and Italians who to this day still see their homeland as Ireland or Italy even though they’ve been here for several generations, but for the most part, I think they can put that aside in times of war to fight for America if need be, still an issue though.
