So he didn't say US troops. CNN did. k.

More than anything, this sounds like a continuation of his current "Peace Through Tourism" plan. What it sounds like is that he's going to "take over" the Gaza strip by acquiring property and building hotels. This is basically how the Abraham Accords were passed. Most of the Arabs just want money, and normally the war is a continuation of them getting funding. By shifting their monetary interest to tourism, people are disincentivized from actually going to war.

I mean that was his plan for North Korea and they seemed interested enough to have him on their side of the border and back again .

Yup. This was, again another example of his own government working against him.

In this case, as with Syria, the US military basically scuttled the entire Peace Accords that he made because they made multiple unapproved exercises around North Korea which POTUS promised Kim wouldn't actually happen. It was taken as an betrayal by North Korea while the Ambassador Corps was left high-and-dry trying to figure out excuses they could make to get NK back to the table.

It surprised Trump too. He's said it repeatedly: there's just a whole slew of people in DC that just love war.

Honestly, I think the Left are barking up the wrong tree. The military-industrial complex is a thing, but I don't think that it's Boeing that wants, or needs, a war. It's politicians who like seeing people die, and pocketing money, who want the war; while Boeing just makes a new plane and takes a piece of the action.

This is basically what's going on in NK, Syria, and Gaza. There are people that just want never-ending death and violence because it gets them money. And, weirdly enough, it's not the soldiers, generals, or even defense contractors asking for it most of the time (normally because it can get them killed or humiliated should they ever lose). There are just Anointed Visionaries that want to shape the world like a HOI4 map, and are taking a swathe of profit for their own ambition.

Yeah, the defense industry is perhaps too small to justify the insane pull of the hawk position in DC. It seems that wars should be looked at as enormous feeding troughs for all kinds of politicians, govt employees, and NGOs. The cost of Afghanistan was $2T and the market cap of the entire defense industry is only $500B, according to Grok.

Meanwhile, we don't even consider granting veterans automatic lifetime healthcare because some people will defraud the system for a new jet ski or something.

My example has always been: Why would the military-industrial complex need a war to manufacture weapons. The military has been begging Congress to stop manufacturing tanks for decades, and that hasn't ever really stopped them from keeping the grant money going.

That actually explains a lot. North Korea is the same place China was in the 70's. They went broke and had to rebuild almost completely after several horrible riots and difficulties. There is a whole IT industry and secret students from Korea. In academia we called them Hill Billy Koreans because they spoke with a different accent.

Trump tried to get them to open up. Tourism would age been perfect. The same with the middle east. I've wanted to see the many art pieces that bankrupted Iraq since I was a kid. There are some amazing architects and artists that would be perfect to promote from those areas.

I'd be careful, because it took over Hawaii too much and finding tech jobs was next to impossible. If they can show NK has old traditions but is modern, they can grow. The same with much of Gaza or other middle eastern countries. It's a difficult path, but it could save lives and rebuild countries way better than what we have done now.

Trump is a fricken genius.

Some were commenting on how shifty and nervous Netanyahu was next to Trump when he announced it.

Maybe it's a big ask by essentially putting a giant American military site in Gaza where ISRAEL is a buffer country between American troops and everyone who screams death to America.

Would be funny if Israel has to pay to defend American lives for a change.

I mean, in the infinite possibilities of the universe, your proposed option is at least above zero. But truly, do you think your proposed possible outcome will occur at all, considering the universal support of Israel and jews by the U.S., with zero reciprocity, for about the last 100 years, on top of the near universal zionist make-up of Congress and Trump's cabinet, and the entire history of the subject and actions of the belligerents thus far?

There is no sugarcoating it. The US is simply upping the ante in doing shit for Israel at our own expense.

I saw a story that said nettanyahoo literally brings suitcases of dirty laundry to the Whitehouse for them to be cleaned for him.

If that doesn’t encapsulate our national relationship in a headline I don’t know what does. Maybe “Trump vows to secure Gaza for Israel and remove all Palestinians” as a close second.

Like most of his generation, he has an odd blindspot towards the type who impeached him twice and "reinforced" the 2020 election. Still, dispite that, he's been doing a lot of good work lately, especially nuking USAID. I just hope this doesn't result in pali "refugees" coming to our country.

If you’ve got a point to make then make it, but there’s no point coyly dancing around the fact that the US House and Senate are packed to the gills with dual citizens and holders of split loyalties.

What was AIPAC’s pick rate again? 98% of their chosen candidates “won” their “elections” was it?

I'm thinking Israel promised the US a piece of the action if we clear the Arabs out. It's actually rather forward thinking. If they just go back to a ceasefire, even peace deal, in 8-10 years they will be getting all murdery again (moreso Israel).

So, this way, the Gazans go live in free ghettos somewhere else where there isn't a direct blood fued. Israel and the US get that 500 billion in oil off of the Gaza coast, and build a canal. Israel gets more housing.

If that canal is ever functional, somehow the Suez canal will ... break. No way Israel allows competition in passage prices. Whatever deal we previously negotiated for cheap shipping will get quadrupled because there's no competition. China will lose out on both Panama and Suez long term, at least as far as skimming.

The "somewhere else" is going to be the US, though. Israel announced (without any pushback) their intention to send the entire population of Gaza to live in the US on the taxpayer's dole last year. And they won't be living in ghettos, but 4 star hotels with $10k/mo paychecks like every other "refugee" from the third world.

Yeah that would be shit.

Even though I have some sympathy for them, Israel is/was doing a genocide, I recognize that as a whole, they are terrible neighbors and citizens. Low-IQ, breed like crazy, no education aside from curated parts of the Quran. Terrible workers that have to stop and face East 5 times a day. It would be a forever welfare population that doubles in size every 12 years.

Maybe we don’t know what Trump knows and are just a bunch of guys on a website speculating?

Bibi DID seem strangely uncomfortable on camera while Trump was announcing this all 🤔

Maybe it’s better that something decisive is finally done in that region instead of continuing with the failed “two state solution” bullshit that’s kept the west involved in that Middle Eastern shithole for nearly a century now.

Like most people here, I would rather we have ZERO involvement at all, but again we don’t know what information Trump has or what his long term plans are.

Because at the end of the day, our "allies" are involved in a forever war over there that they are refusing or unable to put an end to.

This is a possible step towards an end to that, and the only true one available for a guy who will never be willing to say "fuck Israel, leave em to die."

I don't like it and wish he didn't, and absolutely want to leave them to die, but we are also a generation too early to have politicians take any stance most of us would consider "acceptable" regarding the Israel problem.
