I remember doing laser tag one time in a building where part of the schtick was that the room was lit only by blacklight. And there was this African guy playing on the opponent team, and I lost track of him in a corner where the light was kind of dim and not showing as much.
Then I saw eyes appear out of a dark corner.
Then I saw smiling teeth.
And then my vest was buzzing that I had been hit.
Not going to lie, it was a kind of spooky and surreal experience seeing the Cheshire Cat become real in front of me because of the right kind of lighting mixed with the right skin tone.
The worse part is that when the African guys explain to you the inverse.
Apparently, they can basically see white guys in moonlight from miles away.
I'm hoping that in 20 years we can all look back on that weird little era where everyone in movies was turned black for no reason and laugh.

In related news, I was subjected to some of Netflix's Christmas-day NFL game coverage.
Zero white men in the pre-game lineup of presenters. White chick, black dude and a Hawaiian dude, and an Asian chick. Sideline reporter was a white chick. I never saw (or heard well enough) who was calling the game so maybe one of them was a white dude.
Totally organic, I'm sure. That Asian female NFL-watching demographic is set to explode.
And actually, amusingly, I wouldn't even have a problem with the chicks in general if they'd hired them as eye candy to attract viewers. But we all know that that was not the motivation.
