There’s a possibility that these words were inspired/taken from the book “Delay, Deny, Defend” by Jay M. Feinman, which is about insurance companies and why they have such a poor reputation. There’s no confirmation so far if this is a certain connection, but it’s important to note.

Maybe he only fired 3 times and had delay deny defend and depose written on them.

Would make a lot of sense.

Or he fired 4 and they didn't find the first one.

This makes it seem unlikely to be a properly professional hit since the dude is dumb enough to jam his gun and inscribe his casings.

I agree. I don't think a professional hit would have gotten his face on camera either.

I think it didn't jam. The gun was either modded or designed to be single shot like a bolt action rifle. These are exceptionally rare (because they are bad for self defense) BUT they are much more quiet than a self-load semi auto because the chamber remains shut during the firing, so all the sound goes through the muzzle. And, it has the added bonus of not ejecting the spent casings automatically which may have finger prints on them.

The casings that the shooter did leave probably were deliberately cleaned or never even held by hand and specifically brought to the scene to be left there.

Interesting... Deliberately misleading. Although recovering the bullets would show if they matched.

Yeah I was wondering if the inscriptions could also be put there to throw off the police. The dude seems pretty clever.

Like, maybe it was over a debt or something, and the killer decided to make it look like a hit by a crazed customer. Just a possibility.

People on reddit went straight to assuming the killer is a social justice hero btw.

I absolutely disagree (and firearm jesus also agrees with me), it doesn't look like anything but a semi-auto jamming.

I don’t know much about the firearm he was using, but I’ve heard conflicting reports that the weapon was some type of bolt action pistol and the gun didn’t jam, but I wouldn’t know for sure. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if it was an individual action or a group/government/crime hit job.

Shooting subsonic ammo with a suppressor requires to manually cycle, this is most likely what happened.

Like in metal gear solid 2!

I imagine this can be solved with a looser slide spring, right?

In theory it should.

Never tried myself.

Possibly, but there may not be enough energy to reliably unlock the barrel and you'd have to come up with a spring on your own. No manufacturer or aftermarket vendor would sell one since it'd risk damaging the gun if you fired full power loads through it with a super weak spring.

I've heard that rumor, but I highly doubt it. It looks like a jammed semi-auto.

Anyone else ever watch the anime The Big O? This reminds me of episode #13 - R.D. If only the killer had worn red.

Still can't believe they got Peter Cullen, Optimus Prime himself, to do those ads.

The deification of Cullen didn't really take off until the Bay movies treated his voice as this grand event to hype them up. Like he was always great and beloved, but he wasn't on a level you wouldn't expect to hear him in random places until then.

Same with Kevin Conroy between BTAS and Arkham Asylum, where he went from one of the Batman voices of people's childhoods to THE GUY.

You mean like how in the Street Fighter II anime movie, the voice of Fei Long is Bryan Cranston?

Yeah. THAT Bryan Cranston.

That's more of a "before they were big" situation.

Cullen was always an established star, its just the general fandom around him changed from "a pretty distinct VA who is always good" to "THE OPTIMUS PRIME?!!?!!"

You're never watched it?

Good god, you're missing a treat.

It's also one of the few anime that was more popular outside of Japan - the American audience is what greenlit the second season. It's great stuff.

All I can do is shrug my shoulders at the event.

Anyone with chronic illness or a family member with it will understand.

I'm sorry someone's father isn't coming home, but many people's family members didn't come home one day, self inflicted, from spiraling medical debt because of shitty health insurance.

I'm not gonna shed tears over a CEO of a corporation that profits so much because Government Mandated that we have to buy insurance and they collaborate with each other and the healthcare system to tuck us all over

I wonder what other fun D words were also populating the rest of the magazine? Defiance? Destroy? Delusional?

Professional hits are rarely this "cinematic" Seth Rich never had messages on his shell casings. Or maybe he did we were never told.

I for one welcome the creation of a new slang term and being able to wish people a "full benefits under United Healthcare" as a way to evade rules against calls for violence

I’ve already seen people saying “United Healthcare” to any situation where the guy in charge is not a great person.

Countdown to United Healthcare becoming an antisemitic slur because of how many UH named targets are of one tribe.
